I was just reading the other thread and saw this link, thought I'd join this one too. I was reading with interest hoping for anything I could apply to myself, while not a wheelchair user I am disabled and struggling a lot with weight. Severe arthritis pretty much everywhere means I can't use a chair even if I had one, as my hands are the worst hit! Doesn't help I've had issues with weight all my life, and all the times I've had success reducing my weight has been due to things I can't do now- walking a lot, gym, exercise bike at home, fitness DVDs are all out, even resistance bands and weights. Food I had a lot of success with low-carb, low gi, and a VLCD, none of which I can do now. I can't shop, can't cook, can't even carry food from kitchen!

I wish I could find a way of getting cooked food delivered, living off crackers and sausage rolls and other easy to keep, easy to eat stuff is killing me slowly. No supermarkets deliver to me although I think Amazon prime may do which does some dry items and tins. My one hot meal a week, Dominos, really doesn't help but it's the only place that delivers in my postcode.

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears

My local council (Wolverhampton) have expanded meals on wheels, you don't need to be over a certain age or have a disability.

Check out your local council and if they don't then suggest they do, since expanding the service has grown, it is not for profit but now isn't costing the council a fortune.

There are also some private firms

I'm not usually a fan of them, but I wonder if something like exante (is that the right name?) that deliver all of your vlcd meals would help, Goldilocks?

I'm on approx 1000 cal a day atm. Weighed this morning and I'm down 2.4 lbs since last week. Okay, but how long can I keep it up for...?

That’s really good pink well done. I’m going try fast today on 700 calories as if I try 500 I know I will fail! Aiming just to be lighter this time next week

It does sound good, but unfortunately I'm still in the middle of the zone of weight I've put on and lost over the last few years. See the graph 😬

Good luck with the fasting day!

In fact, I'm exactly 1lb heavier than I was at the start. Makes you wonder what the point is! Grin

Thanks have down loaded my fitness pal not sure will help. It has a step tracker not sure will work by waggling arms as can’t get it to track. Carer in soon so see if works when actual walking. Maybe need to move arm and move in chair same time!

Mine registers when I wheel myself, but not in my power chair, so it must know somehow ...?

😂

Let us know how you get on.

Some locum GP halfwit tried to press details of couch to 5k on me a few months ago. (Immediately after a discussion of myelin patchiness in my spinal cord and able to see my crutches). I’ve been feeling a bit curmudgeonly about pedometers and the like, but maybe they can be meant to our will Smile

I did brilliantly on the BSD first time - buggered it up by having to go to hospital though. Have tried but haven't been able to properly get into it since, though (apart from the chocolate I am allowing myself) what I'm doing now isn't miles away from it so..

Excellent work on starting the thread Battleax!

Well, we may be tortoises and we may be moving much slower through life than others, but the pic I attached shows our soul & fighting spirit.

Remember The Tortoise & The Hare? We'll get there. Don't give up! Grin

Freudian did you make it today? Two events in one day. Rock n Roll honey.

Reading about how to try and get to your meds review made me stressed. So glad they've arranged a Home Visit. I wish I'd started asking well before I did!

For anyone else struggling to get to appointments. I made myself FAR sicker trying to do this and had trouble convincing anyone of my disabilities, once I arrived. Durr! I couldn't understand why I wasn't receiving any help.

Being housebound (mostly bedbound) has made things a bit simpler I think Grin

Well haven’t had two great days, but not really awful either. But I know unless I’m really restricting food then I will not lose anything. Have upped fruit so pleased about that.

Meds reviews are pain in bum. I need to be on things long term. Reviews are me tracking in after faffing about for doctor on ground floor as always moving rooms. Then saying yes no problems, the click click click and then I can order online again. Why I can’t tick online saying yes I’m happy I don’t know. Obviously some drugs need checking side effects more but not all. Then they give you 3 more refills. So have to do it all over again.

Grin @ frisbee tortoise.

I tried two things back to back on Monday. I lost yesterday to a haze of deep heat, tramadol and magnesium oil. It’s no joke when you have to pace yourself this much.
