Struggling post diagnosis

I obtained a private diagnosis of Asperger's / HFA from Lorna Wing earlier this year. Have a 6yo daughter with strong "traits", which is how I recognised it in myself and sought diagnosis. Kind of struggling though! And I fear I've made a bad mistake by telling my GP about my autism diagnosis a couple of months ago as I'm really struggling with social anxiety and depression. I told a couple of friends and I think I lost one of them by disclosing my condition to them, which is not helping with my low mood, so I tried to get some counselling via the NHS but of course there is none available and now I've gone and told the GP and it's in my medical records. Am worried about possible implications (eg not being taken seriously in future etc.) - any encouraging thoughts? Am I worrying too much?
