5 alive want to find out what you do during your 'me' time - if you're lucky enough to get any!

By 'me' time, we mean time to yourself away from children, partner or work, when you can let loose and have some fun. It doesn't matter if you don't get much 'me' time; we still want to know what you think. The survey is open to all Mumsnetters.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and enter your details for a chance to win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

AND, for another chance to enter the prize draw, please tell us all on this thread what you get up to in your 'me' time, whether it's playing air guitar to the radio, or going out for a muddy bike ride - you can 'fess up here grin.

Thanks and good luck

DownyEmerald, mine was having a bath too, not quite Me Time as it's an essential daily thing, but its'a s close as I get to it anyway.

Bramshott Wed 21-Apr-10 16:12:59

Odd survey! But I work on the basis that if I enter EVERYTHING, surely one day I must win wink!

PrettyCandles Wed 21-Apr-10 16:13:50

Naturally I MN! Often while eating chocolate. Now if I could do both of those while at the same time having a good snog with dh - my cup would overflow grin

ChutesTooNarrow Wed 21-Apr-10 16:14:27

I use my 'me' time to fill in the surveys in the desperate hope I will one day win a voucher grin.

LaDiDaDi Wed 21-Apr-10 16:19:37

Browse the John Lewis website to see what I could spend 250 quid on smile.

I'm partial to a bit of singing if the house is empty blush.

I love going through my CDs and listening to listening to random tracks from 10-20 years ago - turn up the volume, have a sing, remember fun times etc.

I'd recommend it to anyone (although you do of course have to be old enough to remember tracks from that long ago -not much good if you're only in your 20s wink)

Kneazle Wed 21-Apr-10 16:24:41

Survey was too silly i could not go any further tan tell us about your dance moves !

MmeLindt Wed 21-Apr-10 16:25:13

Weird things to ask. Survey must have been written by a 20something with no DC.

I do sing loudly along to music but it is not a part of "me time", I do it all the time. Well, not all the time, when there is no one except the dog and the DC to hear me.

Why was MN not on the list?

I think I am the MNetter with the most ME time actually.

I have something to eat without the guilty feeling that someone will want some or I'll have to cook for everyone else.

Um, design stuff to knit or actually knit it, preferably while watching something by Joss Whedon on DVD.

theyoungvisiter Wed 21-Apr-10 16:36:12

what a bizarre survey! Doesn't everyone just collapse in a state of exhaustion the minute the baby is in bed?

Dancing/singing etc is what the children make me do. When I have 5 minutes to myself I tend to lie down in a darkened room with earplugs in grin

Lizzylou Wed 21-Apr-10 16:45:02

I either exercise or stuff my face/drink wine, it is a vicious circle I am aware.

I did spend the other evening waiting for my hair dye to take with a facemask, on giving myself a pedicure. That wasn't strictly fun, just necessary.

Oh if I had an abundance of freetime I would be out with my camera.
A little bit of free time and I would go looking around RL shops, not just those on the internet!
A tiny bit of free time and I like to listen to rude podcasts and come lurk on mumsnet grin

overmydeadbody Wed 21-Apr-10 16:49:28

They really are stupid ideas for me time though aren't they?hmm

Childless men wrote that survey didn't they?

I go climbing in my me-time, or read a book, or have a bath, or socialise with friends and have a drink or two, how come these 'normal' activites wheren't mentioned?

bigcar Wed 21-Apr-10 16:59:19

dancing and singing is something to be done to embarass the children, no? Is in my case anyway, especially in the car when someone may see muuuuuum!

for myself sitting in a chair doing absolutely nothing apart from appreciating the total silence.

EricPicklesFatNeck Wed 21-Apr-10 17:00:59

i go running, or read, or knit, or stare into space, or mn or sleep still finding my way with the whole 'me' time thing as i just quit work.

Sid Wed 21-Apr-10 17:06:55

Surf clothes sites and pretend I can afford/ need to buy more clothes....

liath Wed 21-Apr-10 17:07:51

I go for a run or take the dog for a walk. Anything that gets me outside somewhere peaceful doing something energetic works although sadly I don't think Johnny Depp is ever going to show up on my doorstep and suggest we should go to a secluded beauty spot for a shag. Running will have to do for now.

geordieminx Wed 21-Apr-10 17:09:42

I'll send him over next time he's here Liath... I'll make sure he has a wash after we finish grin

BarbaMamma Wed 21-Apr-10 17:13:49

Cheesy survey questions.... I like to get a little (=very) drunk and play scrabble with DH sometimes on lazy evenings - we were outraged when they said they'd change the Scrabble rules!

EccentricaGallumbits Wed 21-Apr-10 17:17:04

I am now utterly depressed by how unexciting my life is.

me time = half an hour late evening

highlight of me time = reading a book and having a bath

i need to take up an exciting hobby like base-jumping or dragon wrestling.

HellBent Wed 21-Apr-10 17:27:35

Don't normally sing but I was driving with my sister a few weeks back and she put the Glee album on full blast, we both started singing and she told me she was a lot better on her own! I was singing/laughing/crying all at the same time and it was great, it is quite liberating singing as loud as you can no matter how your voice is!

Most of the time I nibble chocolate and catch up on programs I have sky-plussed

nearlytoolate Wed 21-Apr-10 17:30:49

I have to say that is the worst designed survey I have ever seen!
