​We’re working with a charity and would like to find out how you may feel should you ever be faced with having a child in hospital.

This survey is open to all UK Mumsnet users who have at least one child aged 0 to 18.

We're aware that the subject matter of the survey is sensitive, so please don't feel obligated to complete the survey if it's too upsetting or uncomfortable for you.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw where one respondent will win a £300 voucher and two runners up will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Done, but the answer to most of the questions is SO dependent on circumstances.

What I would do - with my youngest being 17, and therefore my older 2 independent (and, indeed, there as other drivers / visitors), is very different from what I would have felt / wanted / been able to do 16 years ago with a baby a toddler and an infant school aged child.
Then what you would do in the first instance if your child were suddenly hospitalised overnight, is very, very different from those families who live this life for months and years. If you have a child who has been in hospital full time for 2 years, you have to set up a different way of 'being' to survive. Siblings need support too.

Hi @BackforGood thanks for the feedback. We're very aware many of the questions will depend on personal circumstance and it's because of this that when we come to analyse the data (once we have all responses in) that we'll look at any differences in the aggregate data of those - for example - with a child aged under 5 versus those with a child who is a teenager. It's the main reason we ask for demographic information towards the end of all of our surveys - we're aware this won't cover all differences due to personal circumstances, but wanted to give you a bit of context.

Done. Always thankful to Ronald McDonald house, they were there for us when DD1 was sickest and subsequently died. Prior we had spent hundreds of pounds on accommodation near the hospital.

I would complete the survey as my newborn had to stay in hospital for 13 days, it was the hardest thing I've had to go through (I fully appreciate that others have had way harder situations than me of course).
But some of the questions I am unable to answer and there is no N/A option. The one about work giving time off for example, that didn't apply to me so I didn't know what to put there. So I never got further than that.

Done. Have been there with both my children and Ronald McDonald was not available to us. Have spent nights in pull out bed, a chair and on the floor. Have also had to leave my yongest every night. Really hope more can be done to help parents in these situations.

Me too dancingdirty thankfully not for long but it was awful. We had excellent care (and they fed me the carbiest meals I’ve ever seen) but it was incredibly stressful all the same

Been there a few times and it's a surreal experience. I think the worst tine was the team bursting in at 3 am giving treatment to a sick toddler. It always seems worse at night
