We have been asked to find out your views on all things family holidays!
This shortish survey is open to all UK MNers with at least one child at home who have had at least one family holiday (in UK or abroad).

Add your details at the end and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will get a £300 voucher for the store of choice (from a list) AND one MNer will get a £250 Expedia voucher to spend across their range (T&Cs will apply) Smile

Here's the link www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2V6H6KZ

thanks and good luck, MNHQ

Done.

Interesting.

I might be in a minority here but I wouldn't ever put my child in a kids club alone. The reason I go on holidays, even weekends away, is to spend time with my child in a different locale.

Scruffy I agree with you, I don't like the idea of dumping my children in a kids' club rather than spending time with them and DH when we're away on holiday. It seems to defeat the purpose of a family holiday...

Done , survey heavily biased towards families who holiday abroad and want to use kids clubs. Neither of which apply to my family.

There are kids clubs at holiday parks in the UK though aren't they? or in UK hotels.

Done. Never taken kids abroad or put them in a kids pub though. Camping is the limit of our budget as we have 3DC and they are expensive.

The question on kids club is not detailed enough.

I have used one - a handful of times several years ago - for the younger one/s so that the older one/s could ski with enough adults around to supervise. But that's all.

So filled it in as a user, but it's seriously not a consideration in booking a holiday.

Done. Mine usually refused to go into the kids' club though!

We used kids clubs if they were doing something my lot wanted to try and I didn't - was very happy for them to poorly off to circus skills with a load of other kids recently

We used them a bit on our recent family holiday. Our 1 yr old had a few paid for 2 he crèche sessions so we could get a break and our older son went to a few afternoon sessions. Overall we spent most of our time as a family but as a couple we barely get any time together so the clubs really helped us relax and get w break for a few hours. I think there can be a happy medium 😀.

What an odd list of possible destinations ! Grin
Bit of an odd survey all round to be fair.
Needs to be more specific at the beginning if they are only looking for particular types of holidayers.
I had to leave out several questions.

The choice of destinations was a bit...odd but after reading this article I would love to go to Mongolia! Grin

I thought the list of destinations was a bit of an odd mix too!

I'd never use a kid's club either, each to their own though.

We use kids clubs. Don't really get the hatred for them on here.
We have one DD (can't have any more), she's 6 and gets bored of her mum and dad sometimes on holiday. She wants to play with kids her own age, play team games, make up dance routines, do crafts, go to parties, basically all the fun stuff she loves at home but in the sun, so better.

We don't 'dump' her. She asks to go. It's 2 hours a day. No big deal.

Done.

Our eldest daughter asked to attend the kids club on our most recent holiday as the activities they did were of interest to her. She was never forced or dumped there it was entirely her choice.
The staff were fab, the safety aspect was spot on, she had an absolute blast and made some incredible memories independently.

What's most important when deciding whether to use a kids club - if the child wanted to join one of the sessions

DS won't attend kids club either. We always take him in for a look around and he often wants to stay and play with the toys but not to be left there without us. It would be nice to get a little break from him but really don't mind as we want to be together as a family. It won't be long before he will not want to hang around with us anymore...

My number 1 consideration when booking wasn't mentioned - as a disabled mum I have to do a lot of research planning and prep before booking. It's hard to find somewhere that is right for everyone and adapted rooms are very few and far between.

I think you should've mentioned visiting family abroad as a factor, that is the reason we go to the same place most of the time.
Also never really saw Ethiopia as a tourist destination. Maybe it needs more exposure on travel shows.

Report
isitnotsummeryet · 26/12/2016 12:43

we only ever 'out' the boys in the kids club if they ask, which is only when the club is doing something they want to do, and normally only for a short time
