Have a read of our thank you thread and you could win a signed copy of Kitchen by Nigella Lawson or 5 Cadbury's Treasure Boxes worth £50 in total......

Did you know that in the last year the Insight Team (Ann, NewGirlHelen and Carrie) have given away prizes for taking part in surveys, product tests, events, threads, focus groups etc, worth a staggering £25K? Loads of you have taken part in product tests - from the £1800 Samsung American-style fridge freezer to Walkers Sunbites (and many many things in between - so many we couldn't even begin to calculate the value of goods tested smile). We are very grateful to everyone who applied to take part in a product test, took part and/or read the feedback. It's all about reviewing products on behalf of your community and sharing the love (hopefully!) with MN and with the company behind the product.

We've also asked you to complete a number of surveys - so thank you if you've taken the time to tell MNHQ or various clients what you think about a myriad of topics, from kids shoes to your experiences of miscarriage.

Many of these projects have been conducted on Mumsnet, but an increasing number of interesting market research projects are happening off site, via our research panel. If you are part of the panel, many thanks and if you need to change any details we have on the database please email

Now for the plea for help...we're always on the look out for new folks to join the panel - click here for more info or to sign up. Everyone who signs up using this link will be entered into a prize draw to win a signed copy of Kitchen by Nigella Lawson or five Cadbury's Treasure Boxes worth a total of £50 grin

You can also enter the prize draws by adding your thoughts to this thread regarding...

a) suggested companies or products you'd like to see put to the MN test next year (no promises mind)
b) what you have enjoyed reading about, taking part in on MN (relating to product tests, surveys, discussions etc)
c) any suggestions for NewGirlHelenMumsnet's new nickname...she has been here a year now and is no longer NewGirl, but there is already HelenMumsnet so we are stumped.....(her surname starts with an R)

We'll do the draw at the end of January so you have plenty of time to have a think!

Coming up in 2012 alongside lots of new projects we are having a new page all about the market research we do, so watch out for that.

Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for a Happy (and prize winning) New Year

Ann, NewGirlHelen and Carrie at MNHQ smile

I'm on the panel but have never been asked to review anything - how do you receive the invites?

I'd love to see slow cookers reviewed - it seems a popular gadget to have and I need to upgrade mine soon and would like to know which one is recommended.

TheOtherHelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 05-Jan-12 13:41:32

Professorsunny - yes, you're on the panel and we've sent you a few invitations to take part in surveys in the last month or so - have you received any emails from us? If not, we may have the wrong email address for you - please PM me if that's the case!

RichTea - we send invites as and when they come up but also keep your eye on the site because we do lots of product testing here as well as via the panel!

I would love more tests/reviews of kids books - and IT stuff for kids.

JulesJules Thu 05-Jan-12 17:42:52

Oh I did the tomatoes one - we got 6 (SIX) tomatoes! The last remaining plant still has two weeny green tomatoes on it...

ProfessorSunny Thu 05-Jan-12 19:12:18

Thanks Helen, I was confused! lol, yes I did do the surveys.

orangina Thu 05-Jan-12 22:53:14

Hi there.... sorry, am feeling a bit slow this evening... do I have to sign up if I want to REMAIN on the panel? Thanks!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 06-Jan-12 11:04:42 need to re sign up - you're still on it - thanks

orangina Fri 06-Jan-12 11:13:39

Many thanks Ann!

Just about to sign up for the panel as I enjoyed doing the Matalan school uniform test (and DS trousers are still looking great). Bit late with my name for Helen but surely you should be OurHelenMumsnet?

Tobermory Sat 07-Jan-12 21:49:47

a) future Mumsnet tests - seconding earlier suggestions, food, educational apps, crafty activties.
b) I am also very excited when i get something to test - this year tried nappies, sunbites, moisturiser, appletize amongst other things.
c) I would like to be able to suggest an exciting and creative name for NewGirl Helen, sadly completely out of inspiration.

It would be good to test toys and baby equipment. There's so much stuff marketed at you when you're pregnant it's hard to see the wood for the trees.

Also I'd like to review stuff which isn't for the kids: holidays on tropical islands, champagne and high-end fashion grin

AnnMN I have a question. I am on the panel, but (fairly) recently updated my email - I changed it on my MN account, but I still receive Panel emails on my old account - how do I get them changed?

BigBlueBear Mon 09-Jan-12 12:38:24

Can we test cookbooks please? Do the claims of speed, ease and taste really live up the hype, for example?!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 09-Jan-12 13:50:12

ruishogblood...please can you pm me with your new email address and I will update our spreadsheet. We are on a separate database to the main MN one, thanks

Done smile

Blatherskite Mon 09-Jan-12 15:58:34

At the risk of looking like I'm sucking up a bit - I am absolutely loving being on the insight panel. DH was rather underwhelmed until we got a chance to do the Sky+ test which is proving a huge hit with the whole family.

Just wanted to check though - I expected there to be a little more involved than just watching loads of TV - in the name of research obviously wink, I've not missed a load of review threads have I Ann?

We also tested Warburtons wrap things which were lovely and Bio Oil which has made me all nice and soft. Really looking forward to be involved in some new tests in the new year.

If you need anyone to test a holiday somewhere nice and hot MNHQ, I'm your girl grin although if you could fit in a free diet guru package somewhere first, that would be for the best if you want photos!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 10-Jan-12 12:17:55

Blatherskite - will PM you.

Thanks for the feedback on all this guys...very useful for showing commissioning clients!!

ObviouslyOblivious Wed 25-Jan-12 11:09:34

I signed up but don't think I've received any confirmation - should I have?

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 26-Jan-12 16:23:06

ObviouslyOblivious we don't send confirmations, but you are on our database and we will start sending out opportunities for you to take part in panel research soon.

ObviouslyOblivious Thu 26-Jan-12 17:29:28

Thanks Katie

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 31-Jan-12 17:33:28
