Can someone explain to me abbreviations used here?
I.e. DD DH DS... etc.

I'm new here.
Much appreciated x

DD is Dearest/Darling Daughter, Husband, Son etc.

Welcome to Mumsnet.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is an Acroynm section for you to click on if anymore confuse you.

What I don't get is why MN uses all these abbreviations at all.

To me it's much quicker to actually type the word daughter than to try to remember what the abbreviation is and faff around with capitals.

I've always thought it was daft.

It is a bit Lesley. I prefer to use 'husband', especially if I am not thinking 'darling' when I mention him. grin

Thank you. I wondered if the D was Dearest. It's the only thing I could think it might be.
I agree with my fiancé not being ''darling" sometimes, though lol

It's quite often 'dratted'
