Test Kublax.com - the new family finances site - and have the chance to win £150

Kublax.com is a new online service designed to help you manage your family's finances and they're looking for mumsnetters to try it out, offer feedback and have the chance to win £150.

Kublax's service is free, simple to use and allows you to pull together all your finances in one place. Completely hacker-proof and secure, it works best if you bank online. You just plug in your financial data and it automatically categorises where you are spending and divides it up into 45 different areas eg groceries or eating out. You can also create your own specific categories. There are simple budgeting tools and alerts that allow you to plan ahead and monitor your spending or set reminders for yourself and the site also includes helpful links to other money-saving sites.

This product test is open to any mumsnetter who wants to take part and everyone who tests the service and offers feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win £150.
To take part all you have to do is log on to www.kublax.com, have a play and then answer the following questions

Well... apart from the fact that their demo doesn't work in Safari... what idiot would allow all their bank account details to be stored online in one place by a third party?
They use 256bit encryption? so does everyone else- people still get hacked. If it is on a server, it isn't secure- end of.

I'm interested, quite like the idea, but wary. I think I'd be happier with some software I can download to do this. Nothing is completely hacker-proof.

i only have one bank account and suspect this may be for people who have 2 or 3 accounts they pay money into or people who use credit cards regularly....
Im actually not going to add my bank account details...i am shocked really that theu want my memorable password and everything when even my hubby does not know that info! If i want to see whats in my account i would just sign in to my online banking surely!
I wonder is any of MNHQ have actually signed up to this????????? Seems a bit dodgy IMHO

In the T&Cs they limit their liability to you to just £500. There are other things in the T& Cs that I just don't understand - why do I need to give up my right to trial by jury?

We know you have reservations about using the service however we'd just like to point out that we use the same security as the banks themselves, so we are just as secure as logging on to a regular bank website.

We are also a 'read only' service so even if someone got hold of your Kublax password by whatever means, they could not actually do anything with your money.

Your banking passwords are never stored by Kublax. Everything is encrypted when it passes through our servers. More info on this here

We are massively confident in our security. We don't believe we'd be on Mumsnet otherwise...

Well it's pretty - TBH I'm not your core market - I'm deeply suspicious of new online sites offering financial services. Especially when they are not backed or affiliated (as far as I can see) by anybody I've ever heard of.

1. What didn't you like, what didn?t work so well ?

• The name sounds like something you'd give to constipated girl guides!
• doesn't work on Safari - works okay on Firefox and Opera though
• Using it is contrary to every single T&C sheet I've ever read - if I add my bank details to this site all indemnity against fraud is rescinded by my bank because by signing up for a credit card or bank account you agree not to disclose the details to third parties. Unless you specifically negotiate cover and provide indemnities to the banks you aren't going to get my confidence on this.
• I will refrain from making comments about McAfee security for legal reasons but what on earth made you choose them? I can point you to several blackhat sites which list their vulnerabilities.
• In section 14 of the terms of use you state that You are not providing financial advice - yet you say you are on the front page - the FSA would be very uncomfortable with this contradiction.

1. What could be improved/added ? See above. Also two blokes (however experienced) do not have the skills to make this venture work - there is nothing in the stated staff bit which tells me any of you is a CISSP!

However we must point out that nowhere on the frontpage does it say that Kublax offers financial advice - it is a tool.

We would also like to say that we are as secure, if not more secure than any banking or ecommerce site. We use exactly the same security systems.
