This is the feedback thread for the 120 Mumsnet users who have a child aged 3 months to 6 years who suffers with dry, rough skin or nappy rash and have been testing La Roche-Posay Circaplast Balm B5. Cicaplast Balm B5 is a multi-purpose repairing balm that soothes, restores and protects babys’ delicate skin.

Selected testers were sent 2 x 40ml tubes of Cicaplast Balm and were asked to use it with their child for dry, rough skin flare-ups or for treating nappy rash for a month.

I found the texture and consistency was good. It was nice and thick, but can still be rubbed into the skin nicely.

Yes 100%. My 1 year old suffers from eczema the worst on his thighs, always has dry skin there no matter what, usually we are just happy if it isn't irritated, cracked or bleeding but it has now completely cleared up!

Yes, what normally is eczema that come and goes regardless of my son being moisturised multiple times a day has now turned into healed skin with minimal dry patches (few round thighs but not sore or inflamed) and this is only using it once a day after bath time now.

Very easy. Product goes far so you don't need a lot. Smoothes on easily but isn't really runny like another skin cream I have used on my baby.

I think it healed about the same as with other creams, but the dry parts haven't recurred as often as they did with other creams.

Yes I would. It's a reasonable price point for such a cream and the product goes far. I have used LRP myself before and like the brands origins and the fact it has skin care professionals behind it and isn't just a beauty brand. Rightly or wrongly I therefore feel better about using it on my baby.

I have used LRP Cicaplast before and found it a bit too much for my needs, but I think this repairing Baum will be a great product for me too, a nice middle ground. I have been putting it on my face as a night cream and it's definitely helped my cheeks with the cold weather we have currently. Sinks in well, no strong scent and doesn't make my skin tingly.

I think it's a product that will be great to have in the nappy caddy or bathroom cupboard for various uses. I used it on the underneath of my baby's ears, her thighs, my shin and my face. Will buy myself when the trial product has run out.

At first I thought the texture was too thin and that it wouldn't work as a nappy cream because it didn't leave a visible barrier. But then I used some on a cracked knuckle of mine and I realised that although it was absorbed into the skin, there was definitely a layer of protection left.

I used some on my sons face too and I found it helps with teething/dribble rash and is great because it didn't leave white marks.

I've been using it on my baby's dry skin as well a more intensive application on her bottom when she's had nappy rash. The balm made a really nasty rash go away almost immediately, I was very impressed.

Application was great, easy to rub into skin and a small amount went a long way! texture was smooth and at first it feels quite greasy as slippery on your hands/fingers after application but this doesn't last too long!

I was a bit concerned at first that it was too light a texture and that it would have no effect on the nappy rash. But it worked really well to clear it up.

It was a lovely, thick texture. Rubbed in very easily and left a smooth feeling but not an oily residue.

The product arrived just in time as a bubble received as a Christi gift caused a flare up of eczema on both my one and three year. We applied to all dry and itchy patches and they have noticeably improved in a short space of time.

Yes, absolutely. Friends with younger children often ask for advise with their babies eczema and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.

My daughter suffers occasional nappy rash and when this happens a couple of weeks ago one application was enough to clear it up. She suffers rough, dry skin under her nose and on her chin in winter and I found this is helped, the redness is less pronounced and the skin is less raw looking

5. Would you recommend Cicaplast B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm to a friend and why? Yes. It wasnt tacky or sticky. No offensive smell and didnt get absolutely everywhere on application. I think the price of 7.50 is a bit steep and an alternative nappy cream can be bought for less in a big tub but if it was on offer i would recommend it. Small, but the name could be simpler too

Very pleasant, light, not too claggy or gunky, and wiped easily off my hands after applying.

Absolutely, yes. DD has had terrible nappy rash, and this has made it so much better, the redness has reduced, and the skin is nowhere near as sore or inflamed.

After the first application. I changed her nappy a couple of hours later and the skin was already less red, after a couple more applications it was even better.

Yes definitely, nappy changes are a lot less distressing for her now as well.

Absolutely, it just seems to work, you only need a small amount, so the tube goes a long way, it doesn't smell, stain, or anything like that. It's excellent.
