We’re looking for 50 Mumsnet users considering switching their energy provider who would be interested in testing the new E.ON Next service, with 100% renewable electricity.

Here’s what E.ON Next has to say: “E.ON Next is the freshest new face of E.ON. What’s new? We want to make climate change action a bit more enjoyable, so we provide 100% renewables-backed electricity as standard and a personal service - each customer is looked after by a team of dedicated Energy Specialists. Cheerful energy starts here, find out more about us here.

A very welcome move to a new company

Selected testers will need to switch their provider to E.ON Next in March and then give their feedback on their experience via a thread on Mumsnet, as well as completing a short survey. All selected testers who switch will receive £100 energy credit from E.ON Next, on top of £80 energy credit offered to all new customers.

All testers who give the required feedback will also be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

No that was E.on Energy. E.on Next are a different company I think.

I have had the worst experience with eom where they gave me a closing statement of two THOUSAND pounds and are not responding to my calls so I'd rather not thanks

I've just joined EON and it's been awful so far. Taken money out by mistake, taking a while to refund, cancelling direct debits and then upping our bill at every possibility. Cannot wait to leave Sad

Wouldn't ever be interested in trying e.on or any subsidiaries ever again, during my university studies they wrongly charged me nearly 800 pounds for electricity in a studio room...I was in there 4 months.

The details are a bit sketchy on tariffs. I am interested in a switch but would need to know more. I've just cancelled a switch with So Energy because they seemed unable to switch my gas, as well as electricity, for reasons I wasn't able to understand. I also want an Economy 7 tariff and it's unclear if E.On Next can do this.

No.
Eon sold an an ‘outstanding debt’ to a really aggressive debt collection agency.
The debt was for a time I was with another company and also after I had sold the house and was at a completely different house with a different company.
They only backed down when they realised I was prepared to go to county court with all the documents evidencing the above.
I was able to fight it but many would have been terrified by the bullying and threats.
Appalling company.

I also had terrible customer service from Eon where they changed the amounts being taken, kept sending threatening letters to my elderly parents and have still never apologised. If it's the same company or there's any connection I would steer well clear.

Absolute nightmare trying to speak to anyone, there’s no option to pay part the bill it’s just all or nothing. If you don’t pay that full amount quickly they slap a £20 fine on it. I’m switching this week.

I also had a terrible experience with eon. They took over five hundred pounds from my account on the day I switched from them. They admitted immediately that I didn’t owe them money and they shouldn’t have taken it but refused to refund me as they said that could only be done on one date a month. No way for them to refund any earlier 🤔 Anyway took them months to refund me and the bloke I had to deal with was rude and thick and I’d never ever deal with them again. Interesting that so many others have issues with them.

For £50? And be stuck in a contract with them for a year? No way. I would probably do it for between £250-300 energy credit then if they are as awful as we think it we won't be too much out of pocket. Product tests are usually enjoyable and involve no risk....big financial risks here

Took a double payment online, refused to refund in any other way than cheque when I expressly told them the bank was miles away and that wasn’t acceptable. Eventually managed to refund to the card it was paid with, after a lot of phone calls and emails.
Also do a continual Hard Sell for smart meters, implying it is mandatory to have one and saying the appointment is all set up for you to confirm.

I had to take Eon to the ombudsman ( I won)
Three years later, they still send me letters, demanding meter readings etc.

I moved to Bulb, a fabulous company, they reduce my tariff without asking.

Just to be clear eon next is eon

They are starting a new company but will be switching all of their existing customers over.

It's just a way for them to ditch staff without the bad press of announcing mass redundancy.

All the leaders are still the same so don't be duped into thinking it's a new company, it's really just rebranding.

E.On Next is the asset formerly known as npower I think. Which is a shame as I was very happy with npower because I could track all my usage on the app and compare to previous years.

Eon has an app you can use, Eon Next does not and it's more awkward to submit readings or track usage than it is with other providers. Don't bother.
