Lovely mattress, very comfortable, packaged well.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Comfort, price, fit

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

I haven't had to wash but it's very important that the cover is washable, my DD is 8.5mo and sometimes leaks during the night so it's necessary to wash.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Information relating to delivery was clear and helpful.
Mattress packaging consisted of a recyclable cardboard and substantial plastic vacuum pack wrap.
The mattress unrolled flat as soon as the plastic was removed and was ready to use, however I found the smell was quite strong (I’d describe as a foam smell similar to a yoga mat or inside some new books give off a similar, fainter smell) so we left the mattress unused for a couple of days.
The overall quality of the mattress was excellent, thought had been given to even the small details, such as a zip hood. The mattress cover, mercifully, is waterproof and can be easily removed and washed.
The difference I could feel straight away (compared with previous mattress) was the lack of bumps from the pocket springs. This made for a much more comfortable and substantial feel.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Washable waterproof cover.
Technology that supports design for adequate firmness and temperature.
Quality feel and look.

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

An exceptionally important feature! Accidents can happen, whether this be spillage of drinks or for those who have not mastered night time dryness. Obviously waterproof mattress covers can be used but these can move around and some also have a crinkle noise to them, either way having the cover washable and waterproof is a perfect solution. I did not need to wash the cover but did have a go at removing and replacing and found no issue at all.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Although it's a mattress it feels "safe". I say this because previous mattresses I've used for my other two, have always felt very just plasticky and cheap. This feels like it could actually help a baby regulate their temp better? I don't think this makes sense what I'm saying but it just felt more safer. Than other brands I've used.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

The feel of it, the way it springs back and doesn't dent when you take the baby out and it looks comfortable.

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you? I haven't had to wash mine yet but it's easy enough to do. I hate putting covers on mattresses as they always spring out but I did put a sheet over it and that was very easy to do so I'd say that is important to me!.

Overall it is a fantastic product. I usually only spend around £50 on cot mattresses, this is the first high end type one we've used. And you can really see the difference. I'm glad we got to test it. Really happy with it.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Great snug fit on the bed, mattress felt soft but firm. I really liked the removal cover and waterproof features which I would consider a minimum for a mattress for such a young child and for me I wouldn't buy a cot mattress without. My DS seemed really happy on the bed, he has slept well since we started using the mattress so thats a big plus for me.

I really felt that it was designed for its purpose for a child being waterproof, having a removable cover, the zip tucked in and it was very soft.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Comfort
Waterproof
Removable washable cover

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

I didn't wash it but before putting on the cot frame I removed the cover and put it back on to see how easy it was. It was really quick and easy which is ideal when needing to wash after an accident.

This is a great mattress for use in a cot/cot bed for.children upto moving into a single bed. I was really happy with the quality and would definitely recommend.

Arrived promptly and we (toddler and I) excitedly unboxed it and took packaging off and unrolled it (box subsequently detained by toddler as excellent den).
It smelt a bit of packaging to begin with but soon went away after an hour was ready to sleep on.
The mattress is firm but comfy and the Attention to small detail is great - safety cover over the zip so that when baby inevitably pulls fitted sheet off cannot play or undo zip.
The cover is breathable and washable which is an added bonus as accidents do happen and nappies leak etc etc, although not had any reason to remove cover to test washing and drying capacity of it yet.
Baby seemed immediately comfy on it and settled to sleep quickly.
It fitted out cotbed perfectly (unlike a previous mattress we had to return as sizing wasn’t accurate) and compared to babies old mattress which was a hand-me-down from big brother and was 3yrs old, is firm and comfy.
I like the fact that it’s been made with babies in mind with no added nasties or unnecessary plastics or chemicals. The “don’t worry sleep happy” slogan on the box certainly stands up to its name and we are very pleased and happy with it. Baby sleeps soundly all night.

So to answer your questions:

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Really good although smelt a little funny out of box.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Safe sleeping (hard but comfy)
No nasties in production
Washable cover

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

Didn’t need to wash cover in the nearly two weeks that we’ve trialed it. But this is a great feature to have.

Very impressed. The delivery instructions were very clear & it arrived on time. Packaging was easy to remove & it rolled out flat straight away.
DS is a very hot sleeper & usually wakes up sweaty but he hasn’t while Sleeping on this mattress, he hardly moves in his sleep anymore.

Waterproof washable cover
Firm & very comfy
Cool to sleep on

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

I didn’t wash the cover but took it off to see how easy it was & didn’t have any problems, it goes back on a lot easier than my previous mattress.
Being able to remove it is very important to me as we’re potty training so expect a few accidents in the next few months

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Immediately you could tell the difference between my standard cot mattress and premium Emma mattress, it was clearly going to be more comfortable and the fabric looked breathable.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Washable cover, great for a little boy who might leak in the night.
My son would say bouncability as he immediately sat in the cot bouncing on his bum over and over - he was obviously impressed.
NO NASTIES! This is such a huge plus for any parent surely!

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

I haven’t had to just yet but I will be over the weekend, this is an excellent feature. My original £40 mattress was just an uncomfortable, cheap and basic feel. I feel like this will help the mattress last and will be storing it incase we decide on baby number 2 once son is finished with it.

I already knew the price as we had our own Emma mattress delivered a few months ago, so got the update when it was realised. I immediately thought ‘I’d never pay that’ but after receiving it, seeing all of the small details for safety, how it feels, how much more breathable it is, I’ve changed my mind completely. I would buy it. Plus, my son has actually been sleeping better with it, less waking up and on average around an extra 30 minutes a night and longer naps - I honestly think this is because he is more comfortable. Thank you Emma Mattress!

I did this to see how I got on and it was easy peasy. I would not buy a mattress without a waterproof cover but this took no wrestling to get it back on.

Overall I was extremely impressed with the delivery, product and ease of use. Dd was absolutely delighted with lots of woody woo as we unpacked it, plus she got a great box to play in.

Well packaged, unrolls easily and takes its shape well. Comfortable too.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Washable cover, uses breathable materials, comfortable for child

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

Very important for the longevity of the mattress. I haven’t washed it yet but taking the cover off and on was very easy.

Overall I’m very impressed with the mattress, we have gone through 3 ‘premium’ cot mattresses for our kids and none of them stayed in the cot/cot bed all night... preferring our mattress. Admittedly, we always bought pocket sprung mattresses in a similar price range to this, however it seems the foam mattress really works well as my toddler managed a whole nights sleep after a couple of nights to settle in and naps well on it.

Great buy.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

To begin with I have to say the communication with the Emma team was fantastic, all emails very helpful regarding delivery and progress etc.
Delivery was also great.
The mattress came vacuum packed in a box, and sprung to shape straight away. (It did have an odd smell to start with as expected but smell quickly subsided.)
It is very good quality and looks much comfier than his old mattress. He has also slept much heavier than previously, my child is also quite a sweaty sleeper but he seems much less sweaty since having this mattress.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

  • Washable mattress cover,
  • Comfort, my child seems very comfortable.

This feature will be extremely important to me in the future when it needs a wash or my child is inevitably poorly one day. It is great i have this option compared to the old mattress.

Overall I am super happy with this mattress and would definitely look into this brand in the future when making a purchase.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

I was impressed, it unpacked easily from the box that it was rolled up in, It did have a foamy smell when it had just come out of the packaging so I let it air for a hour or two before I put the mattress cover on it.
It felt good quality, firm enough but also comfy without the shape of springs under the fabric.
Daughter is usually quite sweaty in her sleep and a massive fidget, she hasn't seemed so sweaty since using this and seems to have slept a bit deeper.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Breathable design
Waterproof mattress protector built in
And comfy, judging by my daughters deeper sleeping.

Daughter has been having a few nappy leaks lately so we did end up having to wash the cover, it was easy to get on and off, its a really handy feature!

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Strong and sturdy, with great depth. Could feel the difference in quality to the cot mattress I currently was using for my son. Packaged very well and so easy to open and fit in cot.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Good deep size, removable cover to wash, very sturdy so provided a good nights sleep.

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

I washed this once as my boy had a leaking nappy, very easy to wash, dried fast and replaced just as easily. This is such a good feature as leaking nappies and sick are sometimes unavoidable and I feel it's been properly cleaned rather than sponge cleaning like I did before.

Overall I found this to be a very strong sturdy mattress, I could see and feel how much more comfortable it was compared to a standard mattress. It came neatly packaged so not much packaging to get rid of. It opens out ready to use so no waiting for it to expand like some. My boy seemed very content when sleeping on this and I think the removable cover is a fantastic feature.

As most children aren't in cots for more than a few years maybe Emma could do a scheme where the buyer would get discount on a purchase of a single sized mattress when the time came to move baby to a big bed. Just a thought as the price I feel is quite expensive for something that won't be needed as long as single size and above.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

The mattress arrived well packaged and the presentation was well thought out with the information and safety booklet being the first thing you see upon opening the box. The mattress was rolled and slightly vacuum packed into a plastic packet. After opening the plastic the mattress unrolled and was ready to use. As I took our old mattress out (from a well known flat pack shop) I noticed the the Emma mattress was definitely thicker and it felt more comfortable whilst still being firm enough to be safe. I was worried it would be too thick for our existing bedding to fit comfortably, but it fits fine still.
  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Safety-from the firmness of the mattress to the hidden zips and childproof zips!
Comfort-My LO seems to sleep very well on the mattress and I was impressed with how comfy it felt when I had a little lie on it-I want one for myself now!
Practicality-the cover is removable and waterproof, a must have for us as we have a baby who experiences reflux and now he’s a belly sleeper we do get nappy leaks at night. It’s reassuring to know the mattress is protected from this!
  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

We haven’t had to wash and replace yet although I did have a little go when it arrived-it was nice and easy!

We’ve been very happy with the mattress so far, and hope it lasts well. I’d like to have had a little longer to test before reviewing to see how well it keeps it shape over time compared to our less expensive mattress. If it lasts well, I’d certainly consider purchasing this mattress for future children as the cot bed should last for several years so why not buy one mattress to last instead of replacing a cheaper mattress several times.

1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

The mattress seemed comfortable (I tried lying on it too when it arrived); firm but with more give in it than our previous simple mattress. The outer cover seemed well made, with no loose threads etc. It arrived in a compact box and I did not find it had a chemical smell when I took it out.

One gripe, with the courier rather than Emma, is that I had an email from Emma to say my mattress was at the DPD Ireland depot and I would receive an automatic email once it had been shipped. There was also a tracking number, which said my delivery would come on the Tuesday. I never did receive an email to say it was out for delivery, and although I was luckily in when DPD dropped it off early in the morning on the Monday, i.e. a day before it was due, this could have been irritating if I'd been out. As I said, I suspect this was a DPD issue rather than an Emma one.

2. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?
The mattress feels well-made.
The mattress is supportive and firm whilst still having some "give" in it.
The mattress core is fully covered in waterproof material, but this is not overly crackly (but admittedly not the most silent waterproof material I've seen on a mattress).

3. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?
I did have to wash and replace the mattress cover due to a bit of wee leaking onto it. The outer cover washed well and I was impressed by how dry it already felt coming out of the washing machine. Meanwhile, if the mattress needs to be used before the outer cover is ready to be put back on, the inner, waterproof layer is still encasing it.

The inner cover is waterproof on the inside but feels like fabric on the outside. I have seen from the label that luckily this is washable too (I think most would want to have the option of washing it as it could probably get stained or smelly if enough leaked through the outer cover). However, on my particular mattress the zip seems to be jammed and I am unable to get it off so far. (The zip pulls on both covers are also enclosed, for safety - the idea is to prevent the child from unzipping the mattress covers. In practice, because of the fact the pull is tucked in in this way, I found it fiddly getting the outer cover off (couldn't get the inner one off at all) and would probably just leave the zip pull outside the enclosed fabric next time. But it's good there's the option of tucking it in for those wanting this safeguard.

A benefit of the outer cover is its breathability, so there is a good mix of the safety of waterproofing with the breathability of the outer layer. That said, if the cover were needing to be washed a lot it could get annoying having to take the whole mattress out to unzip it and potentially also the inner cover. In that sense, a fitted waterproof sheet over the top might be easier in practice.

In the past, with a smaller cot (rather than a cotbed), I had used a mattress with a waterproof "easychange" cover which zips off from the top surface only and is instantly replaceable with a spare. This was very convenient as it was quicker to change than having to lift the whole mattress up to change the cover (but I did always worry a little that there could be leaks down the side). However, it would be no bother to put a waterproof sheet over the top of this Emma mattress.

Overall, I have found this to be a very versatile and convenient mattress so far. I was previously using the cheapest cotbed mattress from Ikea and although that was in all honesty absolutely fine, I do feel this mattress is more comfortable and will last better as a toddler bed mattress. I think it is expensive compared to what I would normally buy, but worth the money for those who can spare it (especially in the larger toddler bed size rather than the cot size, as this will get more use over years).

Thank you very much for providing the opportunity to use and review this mattress.

  1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

It felt good quality and I like the fact it has a built in cover, the packaging was convenient for delivery but with it being vacuum packed it means you can't put it back into the box for storage. It did initially have the weird foam smell but that disappeared quickly and it seemed comfortable to lie on ( I gave it a quick test Grin ).
Our original mattress is a Little Green Sheep mattress, I've seen that these are both at the same price point and after trying them both I think I would choose the LGS over the Emma mattress, at this price it just feels more like a quality crafted product as opposed to a lump of foam.

  1. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

The easily removable cover, comfort and convenient delivery.

  1. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

I didn't need to remove the cover whilst we were testing, I can see that it might be a bit of a pain that you have to lift the whole mattress to remove the cover but on the other hand my daughter loves pulling up the cot sheets so I can see that this would help with that!

1. What was your overall impression of the Emma Cot Mattress?

Very good delivery, prompt and was kept informed the whole time. The mattress came out the box with ease and unrolled instantly, ready to go. Fuss free packaging which is always a bonus. Fits perfectly in the cot.

The mattress felt very comfortable, firmer than DDs current one (springs) but you could really see and feel the quality. My daughter sleeps amazingly on this mattress - me and DH were pretty stunned actually. She now sleeps right through, goes to bed quicker and doesn't wake as early. Her old mattress really wasn't great, especially compared with her new Emma mattress (and I feel so bad for her!). My daughter usually gets hot but she's been fine. HUGE thumbs up for comfort.

2. What would you say are the top three features of the Emma Cot Mattress?

  • Comfort
  • The removable and waterproof cover
  • The cooling element (DD is sleeping so well).

3. If you washed and replaced the cot mattress cover, how easy did you find this? If you didn’t, how important is this feature to you?

Luckily we didn't need to use this feature while testing, but my daughter often leaks due to her laxative medication, so ensuring the mattress stays protected (and knowing its easily washable) is really important to us.

Thanks so much for letting us test this, it's been great.
