Recruitment for this product test is now closed

We’re looking for Mumsnetters with at least one child aged 5 to 8 to test Banjo Robinsons’ personalised pen pal experience with their children. Banjo Robinson is a magical, globetrotting CAT who sends proper, paper post (and creative activities!) to children twice a month, from exciting destinations around the world!

Over the course of the product test, testers and their children will receive:

  • Banjo Robinson’s map of the world (with initial letter)
  • 2 personalised letters
  • 2 personalised sticker sheets
  • 2 sketch pages (for colouring in)
  • 2 reply pages
  • 2 reply envelopes
  • 1 recipe card
  • 1 city map

Here’s what Banjo Robinson has to say: “Banjo Robinson is a magical, globetrotting CAT who sends proper, paper post (and creative activities!) to children aged 5 to 8, twice a month, from exciting destinations around the world! Children can write back to Banjo and leave their replies under the sofa for overnight collection by 'Cat Mail’. Our website allows parents to add a paragraph to the end of the next letter their child receives (PS message), so that Banjo can answer their questions, reference their recent achievements, or simply send love and encouragement.

Each delivery includes a personalised letter from Banjo (now written by children’s author, Anna Kemp!), reply stationery, a colouring-in activity, personalised stickers, country facts, and a recipe from each country. Children also receive a big, beautiful map of the world poster with their first letter - they can add country stickers to this as they follow along with Banjo’s world tour!"

*Developed by teachers, parents and children’s authors. A tool for reading, writing, geography, history, culture, languages, encouraging empathy, creative activities, and quality time with parent and child, away from screens.*

Selected testers will be asked to complete the following simple tasks:
  1. Add a personalised PS message that is unique to your child when submitting your form online.
  2. Take any replies from your child out from under the sofa after they have gone to bed (just like the tooth fairy would!).
  3. Send a second personalised PS message for the second letter your child will receive.

After testing the pen pal experience for one month (two letters from Banjo!), you will be required to give your feedback on a thread on Mumsnet as well as completing a short survey. All testers who leave the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

If you’re interested in taking part, click here to sign up.

Thanks and good luck!

I was in the last product test and it’s fab. Unfortunately the novelty wore off after a while. But I’d recommend it.

I've heard that DD has been picked, yippee!! However, the email I've received says the first letter will be sent out tomorrow, 09/04/20, is expected to arrive 11/04/20 (Easter Saturday) and I have to reply to them online by 11pm on 12/04/20. I'm a bit concerned that due to Covid-19 and the Good Friday Bank Hol we won't receive the letter on Saturday 11/04, and the next post delivery day after this is Tuesday 14/04. @LucyBMumsnetLucyBMumsnet do you havr any advice on what to do if this happens?

Hello @munchbunch12,

Hope you are well and thanks for your question. While Banjo HQ are confident that this is an accurate ETA, please give consideration to the volatility of the postal service at this time. If you have not received your first letter by Wednesday 15th April please get in touch and let us know. If we believe there will be a significant delay, we will be in touch with all testers.

Banjo HQ have asked that all testers add a PS message to the second letter. Banjo will email you with instructions on how to do this and when you should do this by on Saturday 11th April.

Hope this helps and have fun testing!

Lucy I've checked my e-mail and I'm thrilled to see that we have been selected, however it was sent last week and I should have filled out the questionnaire by last Sunday 😮 Does it mean we have missed out on it?

Hi @ursuslemonade,

Thanks for your question. The deadline for filling in personalisation details has been extended to 11pm on Sunday (12th April) so you'll still be able to take part! We have just sent an email to all testers who did not fill in their details by the previous deadline with some more information Smile
