JustineBMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 04-Feb-20 10:41:03

This is the feedback thread for the 120 MNers with at least one child aged 0 to 13 who have been testing Cushelle Facial tissues.

Here’s what Cushelle have to say: “In 2019 Cushelle entered the facial tissue category with a brand-new range of products. Not only are the Cushelle Facial tissues irresistibly soft, they offer a unique point of being washing machine resistant. The tissues are so strong that they will stay intact even if accidently washed, leaving no fluffy residue on clothing.”

Testers, please answer the following questions:
1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

All testers who leave their feedback on the thread below and via the survey will be entered into a prize draw where 3 lucky testers will each win a £100 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

These facial tissues have come in so handy since receiving them to try! My DS has come down with a cold so it’s been handy having them on hand when he has a runny nose. I wouldn’t usually choose a tissue as I find they can be quite rough and make their little noses red and sore. These have been so soft and gentle, he’s tolerated me wiping his nose all through the day! I haven’t had any washing machine disasters, but it’s good to know these tissues are capable of withstanding an accidental wash! I will definitely purchase these in the future. Loved the design on the box too!

Andersonx3 Tue 04-Feb-20 14:20:31

Really handy, very nice & soft. Design on the box us attractive and looks great on the side table. Would purchase happily.

NoodieRoodie Tue 04-Feb-20 14:20:35

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I liked them, they were very soft

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
I'm not sure there's any tissue that would survive a washing disaster!

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
I was very impressed, fortunately/ unfortunately both my youngest and I have had heavy colds for the past week and neither of us have sore noses despite blowing them a thousand times a day

Noeuf Tue 04-Feb-20 14:20:51

We’ve been testing these for a few days now and the boys have used them for:

Wiping sick from a vomitty child’s mouth
One nosebleed
General snot

I have used them for wiping under eye makeup off with remover mid way through the day

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

Like them but the animal packaging is a little babyish and I wouldn’t buy the cube for the sitting room . They don’t feel very different to normal tissues, just slightly more robust and not as scrunchy.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Of course - pockets and kids and tissues always work out badly. Have picked shredded tissue from many a fabric. I experimented (see photo) wasn’t brave enough to machine wash one but I soaked it and then shredded it - no fluffy fibres

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They were fine. Slightly less soft but hardy and up to several gross jobs (see above). I’d buy them again.

WhatILoved Tue 04-Feb-20 14:23:32

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I thought the packaging of the cube was great (not so keen on purple colour though!) because the tissues came out cleanly one by one. The quality of the tissue was good, felt very strong.
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
We did not test the claims that the tissue didn't disintegrate in the wash. I have had a "disaster" but this has always been solvable by shaking garment and hoovering. I'm worried that these tissues wouldn't break down in the environment once used. I try to be eco friendly, so this really isn't a selling point for me and may even turn me off!
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
The tissues were indeed very soft. Softer than a super budget brand. I am a childminder and clean a lot of noses. I would buy a tissue more on its soft and strong selling point rather than it not breaking down in the wash.

SillyMoomin Tue 04-Feb-20 14:23:36

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
Nice, soft, "normal" sort of everyday tissue

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
Yes!! Oh god, those endless bits of white fluff, that no matter how you try, would always remain. If the cushelle's don't disintegrate it would saves me hours of cursing and trying to de-fluff

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

Very soft - probably wouldn't use them on my nose with a cold though, as unless there's a strong balm (insert other popular brand) my nose eventually does become very red.

Smurfy23 Tue 04-Feb-20 14:26:50

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I thought they were great. Feel soft but also quite strong. packaging is eyecatching.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
Yes and they definitely would as accidentally left one in the pocket of a pair of jeans and all was fine. Didnt have to wash everythint again about 4 times to clear the damage!

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Yes definitely- been using them on my daughters permanently runny nose and on mine too and nice and soft.

MaggieMagpie357 Tue 04-Feb-20 14:27:43

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I thought they were nice and soft! But as a regular sneezer I would like them to be a bit bigger!

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster?
Too many!! This is probably my favourite thing about Cushelle tissues - they hold together BRILLIANTLY in the wash, not a single shred to be seen. Hurrah!

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
I thought they were nice and soft and I would use them for colds and hayfever. But I would need them to be bigger!

Cotswoldmama Tue 04-Feb-20 14:28:12

1. What did you think of Cushelle facial tissues?

Very soft and could be used more than once, if your a hoarder of tissues up the sleeve like me!

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Lots see above! It’s so annoying to have to re-wash everything and even then everything seems to still have a thin layer of fluff on it! So they would definitely help avoid this!

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

Very soft my littlest has a cold right now and he’s been helping himself to the tissues in the box, which is great as usually he makes me do it but I think he likes the novelty of the cute box!
I would definitely use them myself too for cold season and hay fever season!

Reastie Tue 04-Feb-20 14:33:40

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

Dd liked the box with the 3D koala hands and legs, she seemed excited by the box and it made her want to try the tissues. I put a tissue in through a washing load (well, I had to test it!) and I thought it would stay fully intact in the wash but it separated into a number of pieces so I had to pick these off the wet washing, so it wasn’t perfect, but it was a lot better than the usual tissues and didn’t get white fluff over everything. Dhs main concern with the tissues was does the fact they don’t go as annoying in the wash mean they contain plastic to make them more robust. We looked at the packaging and it wasn’t clear. If it contained plastic it would put us off buying. It would also be great if the smaller handbag packs of tissues were wrapped in a more environmentally friendly material.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Oh yes. Too many to mention! It would improve matters from that POV using Cushelle Facial Tissues.

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They felt very soft, I would be happy to use them in cold season (and funnily enough we are in the midst of colds here chez Reastie so it has been a good time to test!).

40somethingJBJ Tue 04-Feb-20 14:39:15

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
Really impressed. Both myself and teenage ds have had streaming colds for the last fortnight, so the box of tissues lasted about 3 days, but I liked that they didn’t disintegrate when blowing noses and I’ve not ended up with a sore nose.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
My son is forever leaving things in his pockets, however, it was me that washed my black dressing gown with a pocketful of Cushelle and had no problem with bits. However, I am concerned that this means they aren’t very biodegradable.

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Yes definitely would. They are really soft and have had no sore noses so all is good!

mum2tots Tue 04-Feb-20 14:39:32

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

Really liked them, they came out of the box well. though the next one is quite a long way out so it would be nice if they didn't pull out quite so much. I think the pop out koala bit is unnecessary cardboard waste and makes me less inclined to have the box out on the side

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

So many times. As foster carers we have many children in the house that end up with tissues stuff in sleeves of pockets and one always finds it's was into the wash then attacks everything! I did test out a tissue in the wash and it did exactly what it claimed to!

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They were very soft, for little ones i often use a wetwipe because I find tissues a bit too rough but these are much softer than the supermarket brand box we had open at the same time.

Freshstart40 Tue 04-Feb-20 14:42:11

Perfect timing to receive these tissues. Both me and my 6 year old had terrible colds. I did like the purple themed packaging. It looked comforting.
We've had many tissues left in pockets in the washing machine! One of these did go through. Although it didn't stay intact it didn't break down into tiny pieces either. So yes, an improvement.
They were soft but.... not as soft as a supermarket own brand we use. Where you get two cubes for £1.50. So for that reason alone I'll stick to buying the ultra soft supermarket brand.
Thank you for the opportunity to trial these.

Fedupofnipplepinching Tue 04-Feb-20 14:51:44

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
Lovely and soft and seem very strong when I tried pulling and ripping them.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
My husband is always putting things in the laundry basket with tissues in the pockets! I haven't been brave enough to purposely put one in the wash but if they really do stay intact and not leave fluff on everything then I would be really impressed.

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season? They were lovely. Softer than other tissues I've bought before. Even just about tolerable by my very snotty 1 year old. Yes we would buy these again.

muddledsheep Tue 04-Feb-20 14:52:24

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues? Perfect timing as the whole house has had colds! We all liked them, the packaging was really appealing
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Plenty of tissues have been left in pockets and gone everywhere.

Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this? I was tempted to put one through the wash but if they live up to their claims it would certainly help contain mess.
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season? They were very soft and helped everyone out through their coughs and colds. Thank you for the trial opportunity smile

PickledChicory Tue 04-Feb-20 15:01:39

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I thought they were brilliant. The box was stylish and compact. I would have a few if these dotted round the house
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Yes
Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this? Yes particularly the handy pack
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Very soft. Softer than toilet paper ny usual go to.
Would you want to use them during cold season? Yes. Its cold season for us now and the box perfect for at home and packs on the move.

Theseptemberissues Tue 04-Feb-20 15:03:49

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
They were good. Felt very strong and dealt with a heavy cold well. They weren’t as soft as another brand but were effective.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
I have washed tissues in pockets before. These tissues felt very strong so I do believe the washable claims.

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Soft enough, but other brands are softer. However due to their strength they coped with a heavy cold better!

Chelsea26 Tue 04-Feb-20 15:06:41

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
They were good. Strong and soft

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
I tested this - thought I would commit! They did not break up in the wash - result!

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Soft enough, not the softest I've felt but they'd do.

marymanc Tue 04-Feb-20 15:10:03

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
They feel very nice and soft to the touch.
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
I have had a few disasters with tissues breaking in the washing machine and covering the clothes with white bits. I hated them. I don't think this would happen with Cushelle as it seems very strong.
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Very soft and I would use them during the cold season as they seem very strong too.

mama3bear Tue 04-Feb-20 15:19:48

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

I wasn't keen on the box design although can see that it'd appeal to families with younger children. The tissues themselves were soft and strong although seemed smaller than my usual ones. Overall I liked them and would buy them at the right price.

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Yes lots of tissues left in pockets and gone through the wash. The Cushelle tissues still shredded but not as badly as a normal tissue would.

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They were as soft as my regular tissues and I'd be happy to use them if I had a cold.

firefly101 Tue 04-Feb-20 15:24:07

Q1: We all liked these tissues, very soft and strong. Only disappointment was the cardboard box had plastic over the part where the tissues dispense, which is not necessary and needs to be removed before the box can be recycled.

My children liked the design of the box, maybe think about the position of the reds arrows showing the Koala's paws are (pic attached)......

Q2. No washing related tissue disasters, but as these tissues didn't shred as easily they seemed to get to the bin intact rather than the children leaving bits of tissue over the sofa!

Q3. Yes, my 5 year old has had a streaming cold and these didn't damage the skin around his nose and mouth. He will actually blow his nose now, if it's a "Koala Tissue" .

bikerclaire Tue 04-Feb-20 15:25:24

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

I though the strength was very good, very robust for violent sneezes and blowing of noses!

2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Yes, I've left them in pockets many times and once or twice they got out and went all over the rest of the load. I don't know what Cushelle would be like but they are pretty strong so I think that might not happen.

3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They weren't as soft as another (much more expensive) brand but they weren't at all rough like regular or cheap tissues so they would definitely do the job. I think I'd prefer them to the softer ones due to the price.

BumpkinSpiceBatty Tue 04-Feb-20 15:43:53

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I really liked them. They were a lovely texture, the box design was good with the wider opening and the reassurance that they would survive a wash was such a bonus!
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
Honestly it happens to me way too often!!! I actually washed one of these with some towels to try it out and they held up really well. No bits of fluff!!
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
They were lovely and soft and held up well to my children's streaming noses this week! I would certainly buy them!

angel0071987 Tue 04-Feb-20 15:52:00

OMG these tissues are amazing!!!
Super soft (great for little noses and big ones too). Stopped my toddler getting a red sore nose when he's all snotty and full of cold. Very strong, didn't break when full of snot. They claimed to be washing machine resistant. I was dubious, but they actually are! Said toddler and hubbie always leaving tissues in pockets and the amount of time I spend picking shreds of tissue off clothing... anyhow no more. I was astounded! Will 100% be buying these again if I see them. I've been raving about them to mil and even she's on the hunt for them in shops now too.
Added bonus the cube box looks funky and brightens up the room. Great when you're feeling under the weather.
