This is the feedback thread for the MNers who tested out the new Flora Original recipe with their family. This product test was open to all UK MNers with at least one child aged 0-12.

Here’s what Flora has to say: “Try our Flora Original’s great new taste with 100% plant goodness*. Flora Original spread has been a family favourite for generations. Melt on toast, spread on sandwiches, mix into meals, Flora Original’s new recipe is made from 100% of ingredients from natural origins. Naturally rich in Omega 3, with 67% less saturated fat than butter, Flora has absolutely no preservatives, artificial colours or flavours. Our product is certified vegan, however we don’t recommend if you have a dairy allergy.”

• Flora is a brand I trust. I have used many of it's products and like them all.

• I thought the product looked appealing. I liked the packaging which would stand out in-store. It had a good consistency. Easy to spread and neither too firm or too soft.

I feel it does. It spread well, tastes good - all the family thought it ok. I even made a few cupcakes with it and they turned out lovely.

We enjoyed it in always, sandwiches, on toast, and as above in cakes.

We didn't find a big difference in the ' new ' flora from the old tbh. It still good.

We usually have a few that we use and Flora is one of them, so no need to change our buying habits.

Pretty satisfied, my DH liked it and would happily use it all the time instead if anything else.
My only hesitation is I do really like the butter we use (lurpak, slightly salted)
But I think we will change to this for our everyday use, my DB is vegetarian becoming vegan so very handy to know this wouldn't be an issue to serve him

I found it had a slight not butter taste, but compared to other brands much less. Only noticeable when just having bread and butter, so not enough to put us off

For most use yes, but as mentioned above I do enjoy our "proper" butter. So will still use that for occasions (Xmas breakfast etc)

We really liked it. We found it really fit with our tastes.

Based on their products alone, I'd say they're reasonably trustworthy. I don't know a lot, if anything, about their business practices though.

Yes. I have an intolerance to dairy and this is a great option for me. It's also really convenient that it's spreadable straight from the fridge.

We loved the taste. We loved the fact its vegan, even though we ourselves are not. We loved the fact you could spread it straight from the fridge and the fact it melted really easily on toast and jacket potatoes.

My partner said he thinks it tastes the same as other Flora products. I don't think this is true. I think it's lighter, fresher and creamier. It tastes absolutely amazing on hot toast.

We've already made a decision to swap to the New Flora Original however, we'll probably pick the light version. Especially as the big 1kg rubs are £2 in Asda right now.

Already recommended it to my sister who's vegetarian with an intent of turning vegan. She bought it and loves it. My mum also ask what it was when she ate some toast at our house and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was the new Flora Original. Its great for people with restricted diets, so I'll definitely recommend it to those who fit the bill.

We loved the taste; nice and buttery! The texture was really good in sandwiches & didn't cause the bread to rip whilst spreading! There wasn't anything we disliked!

I liked the price, and that it spreads well straight from the fridge. I quite liked the taste. I like the fact it’s from plants only.

When you spread it on hot toast it makes it a little soggy and slithery for the topping which is the main thing I didn’t like so much.

For our family it does. However, if you have someone with a dairy allergy it does say it’s not recommended.

I prefer real butter on toast as it’s creamier and saltier but Flora is great on sandwiches and to use for baking.

We usually buy flora buttery, and would not usually consider this, but after initial resentment having this on the toast in the morning, went down a treat.

When I went to buy the spread the larger size (which was double the pack I had the coupon for) was only 50 pence more. So I would buy the pack for £2. I would realistically only buy it if the price was competitive, I would buy..

We were fairly happy with Flora. It wasnt as rich and buttery as we like but suited the whole family, accommodating a dairy allergy. I feel Flora is a brand we can trust. I liked that it was dairy free and easy to spread. I would have liked it to gave been creamier. I probably wouldn't buy it as my regular spread is more buttery and still dairy free. I wouldn't recommend it for this reason also.
