Here’s what Ultrasun have to say: “Swiss professional sun care brand Ultrasun offers super sensitive broad spectrum sun protection from harmful UVA, UVB & Infrared A rays. Advanced lamellar technology gives long-lasting, fast absorbing and lightweight formulas. All products are hypoallergenic with no emulsifiers, perfume or parabens, reducing the risk of allergy. Babies and children can be prone to heat rashes during hot or humid weather because their sweat glands are not fully developed. Ultrasun’s products help to prevent prickly heat making them especially suitable for children and those with very sensitive skin. The easy to use products are, non-greasy, non-sticky and water resistant meaning applying sun cream to wriggling little ones is less challenging and teenagers are protected without constant reminders to reapply.”

Testers please answer the following questions:
- Who did you try the sun cream on?
- How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?
- Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?
- What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?
- Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?

Selected testers will be required to test out the product until the beginning June whenever possible and then leave feedback on a thread on Mumsnet as well as filling in a short survey. Who did you try the sun cream on? Myself, my child (17 months) and my parents

  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?

I was very confident that it would provide protection based on the uva rating. I only applied once and had all day lasting protection.

  • Did you find the product easy to apply?

Very, the wide bottle and plunger meant it was really easy to use and hold even when my hands were slippy with cream. That said I have in the past been using just like spray creams as i have found these easier to apply to a wriggly baby.

Was the process fuss free?
In terms of pumping out the cream yes. It was easy to rub on the skin and a small amount went a long way

  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?

That is highly rated uva protection, that it doesn’t allow sand to stick to it and that it is quick/ easy to apply

  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?

I would but more for me or the adults and probably not for the kids as I prefer a spray for them as it is more convenient.

For me suncream is absolutely essential . I never go out without to apply on my child , and I always have some problems with the greasiness of the creams that I use . This one is something different , absolutely no mess , no greasy hands , no smell .I love it honestly , I apply to me and my 4 years old daughter every time when we go outside , even if we go in the garden . Its so easy to apply , its abosrb quickly without leaving any greasy residues .
I like that there was the option to choose between SPF30 and SPF50
I deffintely prefer to use 50 on my daughter , and 30 for me and my husband .
I would deffinetely byu it again and highly recommend to all my friends.

I used the spf30 on myself and the spf50 on my 3 children
I am 100% confident that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for us all. Over the weekend we had some very warm weather and spent a lot of time put and about. We were all completely protected and not a single sign of sunburn.
It was easy to apply but quite a lot comes out which is ideal for arms back etc but Was a little trickier applying to the kids faces. The process was fuss free including applying to my 3 year old!
It's important for me to find a long lasting and water proof sun cream as my kids love a splash during the warmer months.
I would 100% purchase this again. My kids 9/10 will come out in a rash once I've applied sun cream. This is one of the very few that hasn't caused any reaction. It lasted all day long and they were still protected whilst we were at a splash park. It's a very good sun cream that I have already recommended to people

Who did you try the sun cream on?
I tried the Factor 50 on both my Kids, as they are very fair with pale skin & Burn very easily! Myself and my husband used the Factor 30!

  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?

I'm normally quite weary when trying new sun lotions with the kids, as they burn so easily I need something I KNOW will protect them, as some others in the past have failed to do so! This product was amazing, it lasted hours before needing to reapply, and it was a nice thick texture which spread easily but gave you the know they were Fully protected, and they were as they didn't burn at all with this applied!
  • Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?

We normally use the aerosol type Sun spray so wasn't sure how the kids would be applying this, as the other is so fuss free. But it applied very easily and didn't leave a sticky residue, Kids enjoyed rubbing it in themselves too!
  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?

That it fully protects my children! Some say they do but definitely don't! It doesn't leave a residue and it's easy to apply!
  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?

^I'd definitely purchase this again, it gave full protection for all the family; even for those with very fair skin: it didn't leave a residue and was so easy to apply. I loved the extra touches in the packaging regarding how much to apply and when to reapply.
This stuff is really great and I'd recommend it to anyone!^

  • Who did you try the sun cream on?

Myself and my two dc.

  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?

Very confident. There was a lot of information on the box that explained the prrotection of each product. It was clearly explained compared to other products.

  • Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?

It was lovely to apply. Not greasy and absorbed into their skin evenly and quickly. It also didn't leave a 'chalky' film that other factor 50 sun protection can. My children had no complaints.

  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?

The level of protection and if it is safe to use on children with eczema. It caused no reaction at all on either of my dc with eczema.

  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?

I would. It is a great product. No overpowering smell, no greasy texture and wonderful long lasting protection. I have already ordered some facial skincare for myself!

- Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?

We were selected to test both the spf30 and the spf50

  • Who did you try the sun cream on? The whole family tried out the suncream. Myself and my partner used both the spf30 and the spf50. The children used the spf50 and they are aged 11,10, 4 and 2.

  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child? I have used a number of different suncreams over the years and I am always cautious about suncreams that claim to last all day. I found that both the spf30 and spf50 did give all day protection for me and my partner in the recent good weather. I am sure the children would have also been protected but I did reapply in the afternoon just incase. No one got sunburnt so I am pleased with protection offered.

  • Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free? I tend to use spray suncreams so I was not sure how easy I would find this to apply especially to my wriggle 2 year old. It actually rubbed in very easily and a little bit went a long way. It didn't leave any streaky marks and it also did not stain the children's clothes or the pushchair. I did was my hands after as they felt a little sticky but thats not an issue. I also liked that the sun cream did not have a smell as such. My daughter hates anything strong smelling and will complain endlessly so this was good for us.

  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product? My son has quite sensitive skin and can suffer prickly heat. I have to be careful what sun cream I use so the most important factor is that he can use it. I like to use the same suncream for everyone. It must provide adequate protection too. Cost is an issue but I would rather pay more for a brand that works for my family. The packaging also needs to be travel friendly as I like to keep suncream in the changing bag and its important it does not leak.

  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Why? Yes I will buy this again. Considering we have 6 people in the family the suncream went a long way. It was suitable for everyone including my youngest child and its easy to apply. The bottle travels well with no leaks and it has no smell. It is quite expensive but I would be happy to pay the full rrp knowing I can use it on my whole family.

  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?

I was quite confident that it would provide good protection based on its uva and uvb rating. I only applied the sunscreen once. It’s hard to definitively state whether it had long lasting sun protection unless your prone to burning.

  • Did you find the product easy to apply?

The bottle being a plunger meant it was really easy to use.

Was the process fuss free?
Yes. It was no different than creaming our skin.

  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?

That it is quick and easy to apply, that is highly rated uva and uvb protection, that it isn’t sticky allowing sand to stick to it and price.

  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?

I would buy it again if it was on special offer

  • Who did you try the sun cream on? Myself, both DD (7 & 2) and friends DD.
  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child? Not sure. We spent a day at the beach last week I burnt and DD1 did a little too. However we were in and out the sea a lot. Although cream was reapplies often. I think I would need to try it on a day when we are out about again in lots of sun.
  • Did you find the product easy to apply? Yes product was easy to apply. DD1 prefers the feel on her skin to other products. Was the process fuss free? The top to one of them fell off meaning a bit of a mess on the floor.
  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product? The protection level/number of stars.
  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Not sure

Why? Would like to try it for longer to see if the day we burnt was a bit of a blip.

I used Ultrasun on the whole family including husband and child with sensitive skin. I trusted it as had heard really good feedback about it. I thought it would be difficult to apply however it spread easily and absorbed quickly. I was very pleased with the protection offered and that it suited all of our skin. I would definitely use this again.

  • Who did you try the sun cream on?

I used it on myself and by 16 month old son.
  • How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?

Quite confident as it had high SPF and a high UVA rating.
  • Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?

This was the standout bit of the product. It had a easy to use pun that avoids waste and the formula sinks in incredibly quickly with no stickiness or endless rubbing in. Great for toddlers that want to run away.
  • What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?

Ease of use and high SPF and UVA protection.
  • Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?

I would buy this again as it's a product the whole family can use, it's quick to use on the toddler and it also replaced my face specific suncream without breaking me out in spots.

Who did you try the sun cream on?
I used it on me (fair skin with freckles), DS1 aged 5 (fair skin but also has eczema) and DS2 aged 3 (red hair, VERY pale & sensitive skin)
I used the Extreme SPF50 & Family SPF30
I used Extreme SPF50 on DS2 (red hair) and the Extreme SPF50 & Family SPF30 on DS1 (eczema)

How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?
It did a really good job, nobody was even the slightest bit burnt, even on days that the kids were in and out of the paddling pool all day. I was very happy. I don’t like any sun damage / tanning for my kids and these products protected them well.

Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?
It was easy to apply, I liked the large pump top. Much easier to get more sun cream when you’re mid application in comparison to bottles with small pumps/ nozzles.
It didn’t leave a greasy residue on the skin either which is important, especially when you’re applying the sun cream ahead of nursery or school and you don’t want it all over their uniform.

What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?
A level of water resistance, that it won’t irritate my child’s eczema and good protection from the sun

Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?
I will 100% buy this again. It is the only suncream I have tried that doesn’t “sting” my son’s face. He has eczema and it didn’t irritate his skin at all. Normally trying to get sun cream on his face is a battle but he didn’t mind the Ultrasun cream at all.
It didn’t make my eyes red & watery (as a lot of suncreams do) and I didn’t get prickly heat which I often do.
It also protected my little one who had red hair and super pale skin.
I also liked the bottle size and shape. It was easy to throw into a small ish handbag to bring out and about.

Who did you try the sun cream on?
My 21 month old, 4 month old and myself.

How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?
The product worked well and I am confident using it to protect myself and my children in the sun.

Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?
It was easy to apply and I liked the pump dispenser. It was simple to use and the product went on easily.

What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?
The SPF, UVA and UVB ratings and that it is suitable for delicate skin. Once a day application is important. I also choose cruelty free options when deciding what to buy.

Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?
I would if I could be sure it is cruelty free, some websites say it is but difficult to find on the ultrasun website. It was great to use although is expensive I would buy again for my children if it is cruelty free.

-Who did you try the sun cream on?
Myself, my 4year old and my 1year old.

-How confident were you that this product provided the best and long lasting sun protection for you and/or your child?
Very confident. We never got sunburnt using this sun lotion. (I only reapply every 4hours).

-Did you find the product easy to apply? Was the process fuss free?
Yes it was so easy. I love that it has a pump. My 4year old was able to apply her own cream easily, without any mess. I love that it comes out in a measured amount each time so we never had too much on our hands. The pump also stays clean unlike a standard cap.

-What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?
Good UVA and UVB protection. Must be suitable for very sensitive skin and this has all of these qualities.

-Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?
Yes definitely! Firstly, because my daughter is allergic to most brands but this one she was fine with. Secondly, because the pump just saves on so much mess. Brilliant product, I will be buying this every summer from now on!
