This activity is now closed

Disney are looking for as many families as possible to sign up to take part in their new 24 Hour Challenge as part of Disney’s Healthy living commitment. The challenge is to clock up a total of 24 hours worth of activity with your team between June and September.

Here is some more information from Disney: “This summer Disney invites you to take part in the 24 Hour Challenge, a FREE, virtual challenge inspired by Incredibles 2, that you can do anywhere, at any time. Every week teams will have a chance to win Incredible prizes, including 10 weekly prize bundles worth £200 each and, if you complete all 24 hours, a holiday to Disneyland Paris to experience and take part in the Magic Run weekend, from 21st – 23rd September.

Families can clock up time doing activities they already enjoy (like walking, swimming, playing in the park), use our “missions” (inspired by the characters from the Disney/Pixar film Incredibles 2) as ideas to get started, or try something new!”

Please follow these steps to sign up to the challenge:

  1. Sign up to the Disney 24 Hour Challenge, create your team page & please select 'Mumsnet' when asked where you heard about the Challenge.
  2. Once you have signed up via Disney, please fill in this 3 question survey
  3. Share on the thread below your ideas of how your team will complete the challenge

Everyone who completes these 3 steps will be in with the chance of winning one of the following prizes:

  • £100 voucher of their choice (from a list)
  • PLUS anyone who retweets the MNHQ tweet about this thread using the #Disney24HourChallenge will be in with the chance of winning a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list) & an Incredibles 2 bundle!

ALSO everyone who leaves feedback on the 24 Hour Challenge (this feedback thread will be sent round in an email towards the end of the challenge) will be in with the chance of winning one of the following prizes:

  • Family ticket to the West End musical Aladdin + £200 for travel and accommodation**
  • Family ticket to Disney on Ice + £200 for travel and accommodation*
  • £100 voucher of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck!
MNHQ

Standard Insight T&Cs Apply

N.B. Family tickets cater for 4 people only.
** Here are the T&Cs for the Aladdin show:
- Tickets valid until 30/09/18 subject to availability

Signed up, however I am not too sure about how I feel about people sponsoring family for doing basic physical activity with their children. I would rather see it as a fun challenge to encourage families to get moving without the idea of sharing the pages for money, even if it is a good cause.

I would rather take part and make a small donation myself to unicef than ask family and friends.

I like the idea though, my son loves loves the incrediables so getting him to practice the incrediables in the Park would be great. We could do races to be Dash, stretching for elastic girl and trying to see how strong we can be for mr incrediable.

We are also going on holiday in two weeks so will be doing lots of walking and swimming.

Me and the DC do a 15 min school run twice a day (I do 30mins return twice a day). We also like to swim as a family and run about/play in the park/fly a kite etc...

Housemover18 · 06/06/2018 12:38

Oh yes, as above I have zero intention of asking for sponsorship for this - this is just family fun time surely?

I think this is a great idea to motivate us to do more fun exercise with the kids. They love a challenge and will enjoy picking out some of the ideas on the website. I imagine we'll end up setting up a mini family sports day in the back garden. I agree we are more likely to make a donation than ask others to sponsor us.

I don't know how hashtags work. Blush

I'll ask the DC if they'd like to do this tonight. 😆

Hi MNers

Thanks to everyone who has signed up so far Smile

Disney would just like to address the questions around donating:

"You can participate in the challenge without fundraising for charity but part of our mission is to help Unicef build a better world for children. If you choose to fundraise the suggested minimum is £10. Although the sign up form does require you to put an amount you would like to raise, it is not compulsory for you to raise this, it is just a part of the sign up process in case people would like to donate and/or fundraise.

Also if you would like to give a donation but would prefer to do this yourself rather than asking friends or family, if you just click 'Sponsor Team' you will be able to make the donation"

Have fun completing this challenge! Smile

MNHQ will be tweeting about this activity on Friday for you all to re-post!

Have signed up, my daughter made up the name of our team- The Puppy Ninjas!!! Actually looking forward to getting started with this, my partner has always been the active one with my daughter following suit so just me that needs to keep up really. Just need to add a team photo to our page and then away we go. Asking my daughter for ideas and she said walking and scooting to school, going swimming, doing skipping with the skipping ropes, going park, bouncing at trampoline park, dancing, bike rides and doing obstacle courses in the park!!!! WOW!! Will also retweet on Friday as requested and if I don't get enough donations I will donate myself. Right now let me get up of the sofa.........

Our ideas so far are the things we do every day. Someone on here once estimated that my DC get about 2 hours exercise a day.

I'm all signed up. Will be doing the usual walking to school (20 mins each way twice) and trips to the park with my boys and husband. Also I'm doing a back to netball course and doing some kickboxing with my daughter, boxercise, cycling and swimming :-)

me and my 2 kids will try to walk as much as possible, play tennis once a week for an hour and swim once a week for half an hour

This is a great excuse to get the child out on her bike, walking and swimming.

Possibly a silly question but do we all have to take part in an activity for it to count? So if I go for a long walk does that count towards our total or does the child have to be with me?

I think this will be easier now it's summer. More time walking in the woods, going to the park. My daughter has just got into Just Dance on the Wii so we can all do that together.

We are signed up too. The usual school run and park walks and country hikes at the weekends should get us there.

Hi @glenthebattleostrich not a silly question at all Smile

In order for the hours to count you have to do all the activities together, as it's all about family time and doing fun activities all together.

Thanks

Signed up. We do quite a bit of walking and swimming and kicking a ball about already but I must admit that it isn't always all of us together so that is something to aim for. I think I'll set up the badminton net in the garden and have a family tournament!
