I loved the product

I liked the packaging and adore the brush.. I have lost minutes of my life just brushing my skin Grin

I was a little apprehensive as I wear quite a heavy foundation normally so worried this wouldn't give as much coverage
However it gave ample coverage looked natural and massively improved the look of my skin.
You don't need a lot and I found the brush fantastic for blending.
It lasted a good 12 hours and didn't go patchy or wear off
I used the brush to apoly and blend it and it worked extremely well. I have very sensitive skin and this didn't irritate at all.
I very much like the way my skin looks when wearing it.
On a night out I used a little bit of foundation mixed in to get a little more coverage
I will definitely be buying again as I loved the product and will also be looking into other products similar

First impressions, the gold coloured tube is pleasing to,the eye and gives a 'high end' feel. The brush was supplied in a clear bag so nothing special really, I always use a brush to apply my usual foundation so was excited to use one which was slightly bushier. I thought the brush was quite sharp at the ends, until I wore it in it stabbed me a few times,

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.
The first time I used it I noticed an instant 'glow' to my skin, sadly it did itch a little after a while, I don't have sensitive skin so can only assume it was the brush but the same thing happened along my jawline the day after. I was a little disappointed with the colour I'd carefully chosen from the website, it was a little too dark, add to this oxidisation and I had to mix it with a lighter foundation to make it work. I tested it at work, if you have a propensity to make up sliding off, then this isn't ideal, for me, it's more a day off lounging around product, it doesn't offer what I like for work day make up.
3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine?
I am very used to applying make up every day, I just used this in place of foundation.
Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look?
I mixed it with a lighter foundation.
How did you find the brush?
It was ok after it had softenened a little, as I've said, it was a bit harsh at first. Nice full brush, easy to use.
4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?
I don't think so, it doesn't stand out, I won't buy it again.

On What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream? How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?

I've not used bareMinerals before and I don't usually wear any makeup. The packaging was nice; simple and sleek, although slightly disappointed by lack of instructions - doesn't say if it should be used in place of, or before or after moisturiser etc. Might be obvious to some but would be nice to have a suggested use for those like me who don't have a clue! :)

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

It did go on easily and looked quite nice once blended. I didn't really notice a glow, I was more aware that my skin looked more matte/flat. Sadly I didn't notice any hydration - I have had a few drier patches of skin due to being out in the cold then inside with heating, I thought this cream would be good for this but I found that if anything, it made it look more obvious. If I used moisturiser in those areas first, then the cream just slid over and was difficult to blend.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

Fairly easy to use; didn't layer it with anything. I tried with and without the brush and although the brush is nice, I didn't notice much difference to the result so I wouldn't say the brush was necessary.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

I definitely won't be buying it again but I would say for friends to try it as it may suit them better.

  1. I hadn't used bareMinerals before but dd1 swears by their Blemish Remedy foundation. I haven't worn foundation recently because my usual product has started sitting in my wrinkles and looks too powdery! I have some uneven skin pigmentation and looked forward to trying this product. I liked the sleek gold packaging and the fact it contains SPF 30. The brush was easy to use and much more effective than my fingers - I felt like less was wasted, and more evenly distributed. The brush strokes feel lovely, like a mini-massage, and I felt quite radiant after application!

  1. Coverage was light but effective - it evened out my skin tone without looking obviously made-up. The finish was slightly dewy, but non-oily and it lasted all day (which other BB creams haven't). The shade was perfect, which was pleasing as I had chosen it from the website swatches hoping for the best! I looked like a better rested, fresher version of me.

  1. I didn't layer it with anything else as I'm a low-maintenance kind of person. I liked using the brush as it felt luxurious and gave good coverage.

  1. I will definitely buy this again, and would recommend it. Thank you for choosing me for this product test!

Disclaimer: I am not a well-versed make up artiste. I normally just bung stuff on my face and hope for the best.

1 Your first impressions:

Haven't used BM before. My normal face for school is moisturiser, that magic minerals stuff as an all-over-face powder (told you I wasn't an artiste), bronzer and mascara. I put more effort in for big stuff but that's my every day.

Initial thoughts - at first I was surprised by the size of the bottle compared to the box, but it seems you don't need much. Brush in bag was underwhelming but felt nice. Didn't really sniff it - are you supposed to do that?

First time I rubbed the stuff on with my hands, and I didn't really like how it looked - it looked too much like I'd rubbed stuff on my face. I felt like a shiny plastic ball. Then I caught a glimpse of myself in the distance and thought it wasn't so bad after all.

I looked on the BM website and watched a 'how to' video instead. (how many times can you say 'sooo hydrating' in 3 minutes?!). That was really helpful, and I started using the brush instead. It was a bit spiky around the eyes, but maybe I'm a bit rough. Massively preferred the brush look to the fingers look.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

So, the first week I got a bit overexcited and tried to use this stuff instead of moisturiser (as it's 'so hydrating'...). My face started to get dry, so I went back to doing moisturiser first, which is much better. Now i'm better at putting it on, I'm really enjoying it - it's fairly long lasting, and just makes me look a bit better. It doesn't massively cover spots etc, but blends everything in, and I look tired as opposed to haggard (primary school teacher)... I always thought i preferred a matte look, but am enjoying this dewy thing it's got going on, gives me a bit of confidence.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

Easy to integrate especially as my routine is so sparse anyway. If I have a spot or two i might whack some concealer on first, but nothing major. Night out I would still use actual foundation and stuff. For daytime if I feel too shiny I just whack some magic minerals over the top and that does the trick. Really like the brush, took me a while to realise there were two layers of bristles. It gives a nice smooth look.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

I think if I didn't have the brush I wouldn't buy both, as all together it's a huuuge amount. I think the gel is likely to become a stable, but I'm the sort that will be waiting for the sales in Debenhams before I buy it again. If someone said 'oo what's that on your face it's lovely' then I would recommend it to friends, but I don't think I can imagine it coming up in conversation otherwise.

Thank you so much for letting me test this product. I'm not usually brave enough to splurge a lot of money on a new foundation brand as I've wasted too much over the years and then gone back to my regular brand. Thanks!

1.
First impressions were that I liked it. The colour and feel of the packaging is nice and it was easy to open and use. The tube has a kind of shimmer to it. I thought it had a slightly coconut smell which was very subtle and nice.

I was really happy that the colour match was excellent. I was a bit worried about this as I hadn't tested it in rl or in a shop. Very lucky!

Also really happy that it has a SPF in it. My regular foundation stopped doing this. I think it's really important and is definitely a factor when I'll choose the next foundation that I buy.

I would usually apply some cover up and my usual foundation. I just used this product without cover up as I wanted to get a feel for the coverage.
I've never used a brush before and could've done with some instructions as to what to do with it. I usually use fingers only. Not sure that it made much of a difference - I'd like to know what a brush does actually.

After at least a week of use please share

2.
It is a very nice and natural coverage. I applied a bit more for a night out. It lasted well, even though the place I was in was hot and I got a bit sweaty. I still had make up on when I rolled home. A good sign that it lasts well.
I think it gave me a glowy look. It's a bit like the glow you get when you've done some exercise, but without the redness - I like it.
I'm not really sure that my skin felt any more hydrated, but I'd say so.

What I did notice is that when you put it on there's a kind of wet feel at first which goes away very quickly. It's the same as a Khiel's eye creme I used to have that was really hydrating, so I think it must work in a similar way. I certainly haven't had any dry patches, so it may well be the case that it has hydrated. So, top marks again for this.

It would be perfect for summer. IN winter I sometimes need a slightly heavier foundation, especially if my skin is bad. Even so, it was enough for me and I was happy with the coverage it gave.

3.
It's really easy to use. I've used it alone and was happy with the effect.
I also used it with a bit of cover up later in the week when my dark circles needed some extra help. It worked well and all blended in nicely together.
I used the brush at first, but have stopped using it as I don't really know what it's meant to do. I'll start using it again.

4

As I've been really pleased with the result I would recommend it. In fact, one of my friends said I looked very fresh and glowy - so she's already said she's going to get some.

Thanks again.

Thanks for letting me test this. I have quite dry, pale skin. I tested vanilla shade.

I've used bare mineral powder foundation before but have moved away from it recently. Current make up routine is moistouriser with spf, bb cream, foundation. I normally use a brush to apply foundation and I did like the brush I got with this product.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

When applying the product it made my skin feel super soft, it was very moisturising.....however the effect of this wore off after a couple of hours. I didn't get the impression it was much of a moisturiser, but more of a bb cream. I would still need to use a moisturiser with this. I felt the coverage was quite light. I wouldn't be able to use this on its own, would need foundation as well. Did not notice any difference into how much I don't glow with this.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush? Loved the bush. It was easy to use. I used foundation over the top of it as wasn't enough coverage on its own.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

I wouldn't buy this. It's 2.5x the price of the bb cream I use and I don't think it's much better. I'm happy to pay a good price for a decent product, I pay £40 for my foundation but don't think this is worth the money.

  1. I haven't used Bare Minerals before, I've seen it in stores but hadn't tried it because I thought it was more mineral powder make up. I liked the packaging, the brush was so soft too, I kept stroking it on my face. I currently use a brush to apply my foundation, I like the finish it gives. I like a light base as I don't like the feel of heavy foundation, I use a concealer to cover any blemishes etc. I was really pleased with the colour I chose, I thought the descriptions on the website were really clear and helpful.

  1. I noticed the product gave a really nice glow. I kept putting it on each day thinking it didn't have much coverage but once it settled on my skin it looked nice. It made my skin look like a healthier version of itself as it didn't really look like I had much on, it was quite natural. It evened out my skin quite nicely.

  1. I liked the brush and preferred to use this than my fingers. I used it on moisturised/primed skin and added concealer to the areas that needed it and topped with a bit of blusher and bronzer out of habit.

  1. Yes I'd definitely recommend it, i was impressed with it. I would be interested in buying it, it's more than I'd normally spend so I'm going to see how long this tube lasts first.

Thank you for the chance to test it!

I've used Bare Minerals in the past but never the liquid foundations. My regular routine is; moisturiser followed by foundation, blush, mascara and lipstick. The brush was FANTASTIC! Best part of the test. Really allows even application and much better than any foundation brush I've used befell 10/10. The Complexion Rescue was okay- smell was good, coverage was not great and I didn't find it face me a great 'glow'. Instructions etc good and no use of excessive packaging which is a big plus.

  1. I had once had my makeup done for a wedding using bareminerals products and was aware of the quality on offer but had not previously bought much myself as I usually wear lower priced brands. My usual make up routine was moisturiser, foundation, concealer, mascara and blusher.

I thought the packaging looked good, nice and slick looking, not too fussy. The instructions were simple however I was thrown slightly by the brush so had to look on the bareminerals site to see how to use it. I had used the perfecting face brush before but wasn't sure how to use this brush. The product and brush looked like good quality.

After a week of use:

2 My skin felt and looked better after using this product, nice and glowy. I am used to a lighter coverage so some people might find this too light. More like a bb or cc cream.

3 The product felt lovely to apply, nice and smooth and easy to blend. It gave me a light coverage and could be built up with extra layers. No need for moisturiser. It was easy to replace my moisturiser and foundation with the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream alone.
The brush was easy to use, I just blobbed some gel onto the back of my hand, dipped the brush in to pick up a bit of product then stippled it onto my face, repeating to distribute all of the gel and then blending/buffing with the brush all over my face. Great quality brush, no scratching or loose hairs falling out.

4 I would recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream and the brush to my friends and would tell them to go and get colour matched at the beauty desks. I will definitely buy this again although it seems to last a while so might be a few months yet.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

I did not spot an immediate effect on my skin in terms of coverage. However the product did leave my skin feeling hydrated. After using for a couple of weeks my skin felt soft and looked good, however I felt that this was a more effective moisturiser than foundation.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

Brush was fantastic. I used this product each morning after washing my face and topped with blush for some colour.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?
Regrettably I would not recommend and I do not think it is value for money. It was great to be given the opportunity to try this though and thanks once again.

Tube looks very high end. I liked that it wasn't too big or an akward shape/length. It fits easily into my make up bag. I have previously used a brush before to apply make up. I usually use a foundation and powder as part of my normal make up routine.

After at least a week of use please share

I have very dry skin and am able to wear this without moistrising my skin too much before hand. It gave me a lovely glow and is perfect for day to day wear.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

I have used the product alone with just a bit of mascara and lip gloss as day to day wear and have layered some powder ontop and worn it on a night out for a more heavy look. I really liked the brush and found it very full. It felt very soft on my face and I felt that it really helped blend everything in.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00) yes! I will be buying another tube for myself when this one runs out. I am expecting my first child in May and I feel like this product will be perfect to use in terms of ease and time with a small baby.

On What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream? How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?

I've used bareMinerals occasionally before - I've tried the foundation and the blusher. My regular makeup routine is basic as I am, quite frankly, rubbish at makeup - I use tinted moisturiser/BB cream and have started to feel like I need a bit "more", but don't have the time. My skin gets dry patches which means a lot of foundations look dreadful as they cling to the dry patches.

First impressions were really good. I liked the look of it, the bottle was a good size and stood nicely on the shelf. No real smell to it. I was pleased by the colour match from the website. The brush was lovely and really helped with even colour spread - I've not used one before.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.
Definitely. I had that dewy feel and glow straight away, which was brilliant, and I didn't have to use much moisturiser before using. It didn't cling to my dry patches either. The moisturised feel lasted all day.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?
Very to everything! I brushed it into my face (professional!), added some lip gloss and eyeliner and was on my way. I'd still wear it on a night out too, but I don't really get to go out much...I loved the product and the brush.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)? Already have and definitely will! It's more expensive than products I buy normally, but given how little I use a day for a great effect, it's a no-brainer.

1 Your first impressions: are you a bareMinerals® fan already? What’s your regular makeup routine? On What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream? How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?

Yes, I am a bareMinerals fan already - I have the original powder foundation and Mineral Veil, but had got out of the habit of using them, partly because I always manage to spread the powder around the bathroom Blush. Normal routine is apply moisturiser and go, with make up on occasion.

I like the packaging of the Complexion Rescue, looks good quality, although I think if I was buying the brush I'd be disappointed if it just arrived in a plastic sleeve with no label or branding. The CR smells fresh but not overpowering. I've used the bareMinerals brushes to apply the powder foundation before, but never for a liquid/cream foundation and I'm impressed - it has become very easy to get even coverage, and it seems smoother and more polished than using your fingertips.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

The first thing you notice is the slight cooling effect of the CR on your skin, which is interesting. It feels very light and fresh, not heavy or greasy at all. I tried using it for a few days without my normal moisturiser underneath but felt that it wasn't quite moisturising enough to be a true all in one, I do have slightly dry skin though so it might suit normal skin types well. The coverage is natural but polished - I felt as though I looked like me but just a bit more even and a bit smoother! It gives a healthy looking finish. I have quite good skin anyway, but I got a few comments on how healthy (less haggard maybe!) I looked. I liked how it isn't flat and doesn't look like a mask.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

The product is very easy and very quick to use. The brush makes it simple to get an even finish and to blend it in neatly, much less chance of a tide line! It is also easy to increase the coverage slightly by adding another layer, to a certain degree. The brush is quite soft, and seems to be better made than the brushes I had with the original powder foundation which lost bristles quite quickly.

I liked how it looked on its own, but liked it even more when I finished it with a very light dusting of bareMinerals Mineral Veil powder - it just seemed to set it slightly better and made it last a little bit longer. Either way, it is good for a day.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

Yes, I would recommend it to my friends who were looking for a lighter foundation. I think I will use it again - the colour I requested (Buttercream) is a tiny bit too pale so I would go to a bareMinerals counter and get properly matched rather than try to guess.

Love it, helps make it look good

1 Your first impressions: are you a bareMinerals® fan already?
I had never used bareMinerals products before.
What’s your regular makeup routine?
I had mostly used an Avon full coverage cream to powder foundation for speed and ease of application.
What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream?
It looks luxurious, the instructions were easy to follow. It didn't smell oily, like some products can.
How did you find the brush? It is gorgeous! My teenage daughter keeps trying to take it...
Have you used a brush to apply foundation before? Yes, but not one that worked as well as this. I usually used the sponge in the cream to powder foundation.

After at least a week of use please share

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.
My skin is ageing a little (I'm 42), and tends to be dehydrated. After using this, my skin looked hydrated and "plumped" as if I had used a very good moisturiser. My skin had a healthy looking glow, too. The product felt cooling and soothing on my skin, and the hydrating effect lasted all day. My skin felt like it could breathe, and felt very comfortable. This did not settle into any creases/wrinkles. Overall, I would say that it suited my skin very well.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine?
It was as quuck and easy as my usual product, and it required less blending because it isn't as thick.
Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look?
I tried it alone, and had very positive comments.
How did you find the brush? The brush worked well, I applied the product both with and without the brush.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Yes. I applied it, took a selfish and used it as my profile photo on Facebook. I said that I had used this on my skin, and several people commented on how nice it looked. My sister in law wants to try some - I will give her a smidgeon of mine! My daughter has been eyeing it up too.
Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)? It is dearer than my usual product, but it is worth it IMO. A little goes a long way. Opal 01 was a good match for my skin, which made a change, as other brands tend to be too dark/too orange.

I liked the packaging, look and feel very much. I also liked the method of choosing a colour and found it to be very accurate. The product it's self is a nice texture and easy to apply.

My regular make up routine is kept for work and going out, e.g. Not on a daily basis. I wear moisturiser, primer, bb cream or foundation, setting powder, then eyeshadow, liner and mascara, maybe a clear lip gloss and if I'm really pushing the boat out, eyebrow powder.

I do often use a brush to apply my base products, as well as a sponge or my fingers. I have never used the bare minerals brand before.

There was an instant impact in terms of dewyness and glow - it was very different to my usual Matt products and I liked it. I think coverage could have been better but once applied over my primer, it made a difference. I also found that the brush needed a lot of working to give even coverage and that it was leaving bristle marks - a sponge gave much more even coverage.
It was easy to use in my current routine. I did however found it looked very dry after awhile and also had a drying effect on my skin - which I didn't expect with a moisturising product. Using less cream reduced this but didn't remove it entirely.
I tested it both alone and with my normal makeup routine. Not keen on the brush, it seemed more suitable for a powder than a cream - I've been using it for my setting powder!

I wouldn't recommend this product or buy it again - although it looked great, the drying effects and eventual look were too difficult to overcome.

Glad to see the feedback thread is up - I have lots of thoughts to share on this! For reference, I'm very pale with a combination to oily skin type and was given the shade Birch (1.5) to try.

First impressions:

Are you a bareMinerals® fan already? Yes, I have a few bits and pieces from Bareminerals and like their products. I've tried the original mineral foundation and like the results but find it quite time consuming to apply so was looking forward to trying this.

What’s your regular makeup routine? I use make up most days and usually wear a full face including primer, base products (my favourite - I love trying new stuff), blusher, bronzer, eyeshadow and lippie.

What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream? Packaging - great, no complaints. In fact, I'd like more products to come in a tube like this one. They're far more portable than a heavy bottle or tub, so good for travel or touch ups. Also, it's hygienic - no need to dip fingers or brushes into the product. The product itself has a light, fresh scent which isn't overpowering - this was a big plus for me as I dislike strongly fragranced base products. I didn't pay much attention to the instructions as I'm familiar with various application techniques and I found it easy to use. Also impressed with the high SPF - good for spring/summer!

How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before? I'm used to using brushes to apply foundation but didn't have one quite like this so was keen to try it out. It had a nice 'weighted' feel to it and looked to be good quality.

My thoughts after a week of use:

Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail I loved how easy it was to apply - I used the brush initially but also looked good when applied just with fingertips. It blended out really easily, gave a lovely light, natural looking coverage and evened out my skin tone nicely. It felt very 'fresh' and hydrating on application using both fingertips and the brush - more so using fingertips but that may be because I used a bit more product. Felt like nothing on the face - in the best way! I was concerned it might be too dewy for my skin type but in fact it lasted very well when set with powder (just in the t zone). Overall, very impressed,

How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Very easy, I'm used to wearing make up most days. It fitted in with my usual routine.

Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? I used a primer underneath (this is something I do most days as I find it improves the wear of base products) and a little bit of concealer on areas that needed extra coverage. I also set my t-zone with powder - this is what I normally do when applying base products so didn't need to add any steps.

How did you find the brush? It felt really soft on the face and was easy to use. I squeezed out a pea sized amount onto the back of my hand and then stippled it on to my face and blended the product in using the brush, which gave a nice light coverage. The brush itself is very nice, it feels good quality and was easy to clean. I really liked it but don't think it's necessary to use this brush with the product - any buffing style foundation brush (eg real techniques expert face brush) would work well with this.

Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? I would definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for a light, easy to use, everyday product, although I would suggest caution for very oily skin types. I will probably buy it again when it runs out.

On What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream? How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?

I am a bareMinerals fan. I use the blush daily, an eye pencil, eye cream and eye shadow on nights out. I did historically use a powder foundation with a brush but have moved on from this.

My honest initial thought was it's a small tube for over £20. I did go on to feel the price is justified.

I really liked the brush from the first time I used it. I was slightly synical about use of a brush with a liquid foundation but it gives a really even cover and is gentle enough that it's easy to apply an even layer around your eyes. It doesn't get claggy with use either.

After at least a week of use please share

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

The natural even thin but thorough coverage is very good. I am fairly pale skinned in the winter and the product was a really good colour match. I particularly liked that it gave a very even covering particularly under my eyes - an area that can be slightly darker especially if the DC have had a bad night. Another area that coverage was particularly good, without it being a thick foundation, is the base sides of my nose. I have very slight variation in the skin tone - often slightly red due to multiple allergies resulting in me blowing my nose throughout the day but a gentle brush of cream over the area and my skin tone appeared to even out without losing all tone and looking white washed or caked in makeup.

I've had two compliments since using the cream. One from my mum who said I'm looking well at present. Not something she'd usually say. Another backhanded one from a mum at the school gate saying she wished she had skin like mine, so she too could go out without makeup. For me that's as good as it gets. I like that it feels natural as an enhancement rather than wearing a mask or trying to disguise who I am.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

Initially, I used way too much product and had excess to work around my face. Over use, I've mastered squirting a thin line on the bridge of my nose and then spread out with the brush. It's very quick to apply and drys quickly, especially if you don't use excessive amounts. I've moved from using a different BB cream and find that the bareMinerals product does last all day into evening until removed, where I used to add a little extra cream, particularly around my nose, with my previous cream before school run/ evening trips out. The offset on tissues/ napkins etc, once dry, is also significantly improved on my previous cream. I do also use a very light amount of bareMinerals blush, mascara and a neutral lipstick.

I'm a complete brush convert. It gives a far more even look and is great for the gentle skin areas where I usually avoid, like around the eyes. I was concerned that the brush with a liquid would be unpleasant after a few days use. It isn't. It's lovely and a real pleasure to use. It also saves getting any product on your hands and risking getting it on clothes.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

I would, and have, recommended visiting a bareMinerals counter to friends/ family. For someone with a fairly healthy natural complexion that just needs a bit of a boost, this product is fab. I would specifically mention the cream to people.

I'm grateful for being part of the trial and have really enjoyed using the cream. In particular, the improved thin but even coating I get using the brush has surprised me.

I will buy bareMinerals tinted hydrating gel cream again - but even with every day use for several weeks the tube appears to still have loads in it, so I think it'll probably last a few months.

1 Your first impressions: are you a bareMinerals® fan already? What’s your regular makeup routine?

I've never used any Bare Minerals stuff before but was aware that it was a high end product. I have dry skin, a good smooth complexion but a little bit red and patchy in places. V sleep deprived! My usual routine is to put moisturiser only. For special events, MAC foundation, blusher and powder. Recently I've been experimenting with a daily routine of Nars tinted moisturiser, blusher and powder, to stop me looking so tired.

What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream?

Premium packaging, a very accurate shade indication on the outside card package too.

Instructions non existent on either the box or the slip of paper (useless - just repeated the box blurb in tiny font). Just two sentences on the bottle to apply to clean skin. Better to say how much to start with (eg size of pea?) and whether you can moisturise or put primer before.

Smell was usual make-up-y, not subtle or pleasant. Smelt like a foundation not a moisuriser.

How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?

Disliked using the brush - the first two times I used it the odd bristle escaped which was annoying and ruined the finish. Might be good for strong application but can't be used for light application like fingertips.

Also washing out the brush afterwards really counters the main advantage of moisturiser, which is to save vital seconds off my morning routine.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

Coverage was natural and dewy, not too tacky (unlike the Laura Mercia version, which I found expensive and overhyped). Definitely sheer rather than medium, and a bit too greasy for me to build easily. I'd need a bit of concealer or colour correction pen to erase my red patches if I wanted them to be invisible underneath the tinted moisturiser. I found it very moisturising, not drying at all. I found the gel formulation a bit weird, but it might be because I'm used to creamier formulations. Reminded me of a No 7 mousse I used to use a few years ago.

Generally I think it would make a good summer or holiday product (especially with the excellent spf) but for day to day I do want a more medium coverage finish such as Nars.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

Easy to fit into routine if I didn't use the brush. I used it alone with nothing underneath, then a bit of cream blusher. A touch of powder on forehead and nose.

Didn't use brush much for reasons above. Was quite expensive too.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

I'd recommend it because:

  • there is a huge range of colours, all described v well on the website. Great for all ethnicities.
  • the cost is on par with Nars and cheaper than Laura Mercier

I'd warn friends that:
  • coverage is sheer
  • the website has descriptions of the colours and pictures of faces but the tint I got was still a bit too dark and yellow. I wasn't great at judging my own skin. You really need to go in store and be colour-matched.
  • For work I think nars offers better coverage and a less shiny finish. But this BareMinerals version was much much better, slightly cheaper and v similar to Laura Mercier.

I'd love there to be a function on the website where for a couple of quid and postage you could order tiny samples of different colours. If this was an option, I didn't notice it.

1 Your first impressions: are you a bareMinerals® fan already?
I've heard a lot about Bare Minerals but I don't have any Bare Minerals products.

What’s your regular makeup routine?
Since having children a few years ago I don't really wear makeup at all.

What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream?
The packaging is really nice, it looks attractive, sleek and expensive. I didn't notice any smell which I think is a good thing. The instructions are basic but that is fine.

How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?
I've never used a foundation brush before as I really don't like them. This brush is actually really good - it applies evenly and gives a nice coverage.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.
It goes on really well with either fingertips or the brush. It's quite a light coverage but it gives a lovely radiant look. My skin immediately looked brighter with a more even tone. I don't find it particularly hydrating but I don't find it drying either in the same way I have found other products to be.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?
I don't have a routine at the moment so I just used this over my usual moisturiser. As I said before I do like the brush. I only used it with mascara for a natural daytime look, I didn't layer it. It is sheer enough that I think I could layer it for a fuller coverage.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?
For a light coverage I would definitely recommend it, it is amazing how glowing and fresh my skin looked. Unfortunately I'm not sure I'd buy it for the RRP as for me it's a bit expensive.

On What are your initial thoughts on the packaging, instructions, smell etc or the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream? How did you find the brush? Have you used a brush to apply foundation before?

I haven't used BM products before and I thought the actual product looked good - nice packaging and looked expensive. The brush was, well, it's a brush! My makeup routine is pretty slap-dash and minimal, I tend to use a compact foundation just because it's quick and easy. Never ever thought to use a brush for foundation before.

2 Did you spot an instant impact in terms of natural coverage, glow and hydration of your skin? Please describe the effect the product had in detail.

Coverage was very natural, it evened out my skin and the colour match was good which was a relief as I chose from the webpage rather than RL. My skin felt nice, not drying like some foundations and it seemed to last well. I didn't really notice any 'glow' until I saw a photo of myself and then thought how good my skin looked.

3 How easy was it to use this product in your regular makeup routine? Did you use it alone or layer with other products to create a fuller look? How did you find the brush?

It was easy to use, I saw some comments on here about 'stippling' and then blending with the brush and that seemed to work better. Brush did feel a bit rough around eyes/eyelids. We don't have good light in our bathroom so I did find myself having to double-check near a window that it was well blended as it was easy to miss a bit (not a great look). I didn't use the product with anything else.

4 Would you recommend the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream to your friends? Will you buy it again (RRP £27.00)?

Yes, I think I would recommend it although quite a lot of my friends probably prefer a heavier 'look'. I don't think it is overpriced - I would spend £27 on a good foundation - it's in line with other premium product. However there is no way that I would spend £24 on a makeup brush, sorry.

I genuinely liked the product, thank you for choosing me.
