This thread is for the Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the AddWash™ WW8500 Washing Machine.

Here’s what Samsung have to say: “We wanted a washing machine that simply adapts to consumers, not for consumers to have to adapt to their machines. Our AddWash™ range reflects Samsung’s commitment to marrying beautiful design and practical innovations to create appliances that help be more efficient”.
Ashwin Gouveia - Senior Product Manager – Laundry (Samsung UK)

Testers:
Once your machine has arrived, please tell us:

  1. What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
  2. Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?

After having a few days to test your machine, we’d love to know:
  3. Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?
  4. How is this machine different to your previous model?

Finally, now that you’ve had your machine for over a week, please tell us:
  5. What is your favourite feature and why?
  6. Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?

Please also add your review to the Mumsnet reviews section here.

Non – testers, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, please answer the following question:
If you could add a magic feature to your washing machine, what life-changing function would it have? Would it make your clothes magically repel creases, or hang up your clothes automatically? Would it have a super quick wash cycle for those nights where someone urgently needs a clean PE kit? Would it have a sensor to locate those odd socks?

Whatever your idea, please post it as a comment below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 love2shop voucher.

    Standard Insight T&Cs Apply
    Thanks,

Tester here. First of all, thank you for choosing me to test the Samsung Addwash washing machine
.
For the questions asked,

1) What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
The big door! My first impression was about the look of the washing machine - white machine with a big round black door that seems to be bulging forward. Next, my eyes went to the smaller window on the bulging door ( AddWash feature) that gives an extra feel of "it" being an important addition to a washing machine. Then, the control panel which represents the technology advancement added to a washing machine. Finally, "the WiFi" (smart control) which I am yet to use on my washing machine. The whole package gives a feel of owning a stylish high end machine.

2) Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?
Obviously, the special feature "AddWash" was the first one that gave me the thrill of adding few cloths in between the cycle which I was unable to do with my previous washing machine. Another important and exciting feature that I read and waiting to use was ability to access/control the washing machine through Mobile/iPad using Samsung Smart Home Washing Machine App (through WiFi). Adding to it, the ability of the washing machine to run self-diagnosis through the app for errors (if any) sounds exciting for me.

Non-tester: A self-cleaning/drying cycle so mould doesn't form on the rubber bit by the drum or the dispenser drawer doesn't get icky.

1)This machine looks great, the door is huge and the control panel looks really sleek. I love the fact it has lights in the drum and around the dials. It looks like an expensive, luxury washing machine and the whole family was very impressed. The add wash drawer opens really well, push it in and out it pops but it also blends into the door well.

  1. The thing I'm looking forward to most is using the add wash feature. True to form my 2 year old wet himself 5 minutes after a wash went on so it got tested straight away. It gets a total thumbs up, I'm forever finding a dropped sock on the stairs or having one of the kids cover themselves in food so being able to add clothes once the wash has started is a total winner. I haven't set up the wifi yet but that's next thing I'm really looking forward to trying.

  1. What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
Big! My old machine was much smaller with a much smaller door, so this one looks massive in comparison! It looks sleek though, the door is huge but low profile so it looks smart and unobtrusive. The control panel and dial look easy to use but modern and expensive. Despite the size it looks streamlined and simple in design.
  2. I'm another sucker for the add-wash feature. It is such a simple feature but one that will be so useful on so many occasions. I'm also excited about the fact that it weighs the washing and works out the washing time accordingly, my previous machine didn't have this feature and only had one cycle length on a cotton wash which was interminable! I'm also intrigued by the smart controls. It's not something I have ever felt was lacking in my life but I'm looking forward to seeing how useful it is being able to control my machine from my phone!

None tester, and I promise I'm not copying pp but I'm in agreement that a self cleaning function, for me, would be perfect. My machine throws out gunk on occasion, and nothing seems to get rid of it, and the inside of the rubber is black, as is the powder drawer.

I would love a washing machine to be able to keep socks together and not mysteriously lose some every so often!

Non tester:

-a function to clean the machine and make sure it is free of all dog hair!

  • an alarm to tell me I've not shut the door properly. The number of times I've thought I'd set it going only to come back to dry clothes an hour later!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/12/2016 18:11

non tester - my machine would allow me to empty my laundry basket into the top in one huge pile. It would sort it all, wash it and it would then put it back away ironed. It would also have a slot at the front where washed money would be ejected, thus making it easy to find.

Non tester here.

Another one for a self cleaning machine (promise I'm not copying the others!!). The black gunk that accumulates in the dispenser drawer is horrific- like alien poo!!!

Also another feature would be an automatic sorter which sorts all the washing for me (into whites, colours, towels etc) so all I need do is dump the dirty washing into it!

I'd love a machine that washed, dried and hung the washing (crease free natch) for me. That would make my life sooooooo much easier. Can you invent one? Pretty please.

A machine that puts the clothes away for you!

I would like a setting that ensure my clothes were crease free and never, ever needed ironing ever again. I really don't like ironing!

Another vote for a crease free setting. Your add wash feature sounds great too as I always find stray items just after I've put a load on!

KnottedAnchorChief · 07/12/2016 21:07

Non tester here. I would like a machine that would sense that a dark coloured item has sneaked into a white wash. Like when a red sock gets in with the white things and turns everything pink!
Also, on a similar theme, a machine that would sense when someone has accidentally included a delicate along with a load of sheets in a hot wash. Goodbye silk pyjamas, it was good while you lasted!

I would love a washing machine that would gently remove even the crumbliest of missed tissues from a pocket, screw it up in a little ball and actually deposit it with all the other detritus/lego/coins/mp3 players in the door rim, rather than distributing it evenly all over my load of blacks.

Non tester: Would love a self cleaning machine. The black gunk always sneaks it's way back in.

Anononoo · 07/12/2016 22:22

Non-tester: it would be able to sense exactly what was in there, what temp needed, how dirty it was and adjust its cycle automatically.

non tester. definitely the removal of creases. life is too short for ironing.

It's got to be the power to "iron". Even the little that I do do is such a chore. Pressing collars etc. How has a machine not been invented to take over from the iron yet?

most definately have to be that the clothes come out not needing to be ironed lol.

I agree with previous posters that a self- cleaning dispenser drawer would be an excellent idea. I would also like it to self adjust its legs so that it didn't get noisy and off balance and travel across the floor!

Non tester - definitely a machine that takes the creases out , and I mean really does take the creases out so no ironing ever needed!

A function that would poke DH / DD in the arm every 30 seconds after the wash cycle had finished until they've got off their arses and emptied out the machine and hung the laundry to dry. #itsnotjustmyjob

Definitely a machine that would sort clothing for you, so whites darks towels etc would be washed separately and one that would wash without creases so you wouldn't have to iron!
