This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

As a first impression I really like this deodorant. It's gentle and smells really nice. I like the way it feels and also the way it is a spray bottle not a harsh aerosol.
I have been using this product for about a week and I can already see a difference in my underarm skin.

Initially, I did not like the scent the deodorant had. I am used to using perfumed products, but being pregnant I am much more mindful to harsh chemicals hence why I was interested in this product.
It does state it is scent free but it does have a subtle smell. This does fade to unscented a few minutes after application. So far, I have found the product to work well, keeping body odour at bay and not irritating my sensitive skin so will see how it goes!

First impressions: nice packaging and like the double lid. Although it's unperfumed there is an odd smell to it which DH says smells like nasal spray Confused I'm not sure what it is but it does fade away.
Yesterday was a swelterer in Birmingham and I was definitely stinky by the afternoon but have found it lasting all day under normal circumstances, which a hot day in the midlands isn't!
Generally it feels nicer to breastfeed knowing there are no perfumes and whatnot near the baby although she doesn't care :)

As a first impression I also like it, particularly the pump spray rather than an aerosol.
I normally use a maximum protection deodorant and so far it doesn't seem any less effective but will update when I've been using it longer. I definitely like the idea of de-clogging my pores from my current deodorant.
It hasn't caused any irritation at all. So far so good Smile

At first I didn't know whether I was so keen on the scent of the deodrant but after a couple of uses, I don't mind it. I do feel it leaves you feeling wet below the arms for at least a minute or two so I try not to spay it on when I am wearing a top. I do find it keeps me feeling fresh all day though, especially during this humid weather, and I have experienced no irritations or anything. Would have preferred the bottle not to have two tops to remove before and after use too.

It has arrived and looks good. I love how natural the ingredients are and that it isn't a harsh aerosol. It is very hot in Kent (30 degrees Celsius) at the moment so I am a little dubious as to whether it will work but I hope it does!

First impressions I find it has a weird scent which has put me off a bit. Also not sure if it's because it's not a roll on I don't feel confident wearing it but it does keep me fresh.

So far so good - it goes on very wet which some people may not like but I gave it a blast with the hairdryer before getting dressed and that helped. Only issue I have is what's with the two caps?? I have a hard enough to time keeping track of one let alone two! Seems a little unnecessary. I've used it for three days so far and it's not irritated my skin and I'd say it's working to stop the sweat - yet to try it out on stress swear so I'll report back after my next stressful meeting!

Hello, thanks for sending me the product. First impressions are good, though having two lids (the smaller cap for the pump and then the bigger blue cap for the bottle) is a bit fiddly. I agree I didn't expect it to be scented, but the scent does fade. The product isn't sticky when applied and doesn't go sticky when you sweat unlike some other natural deos I've tried (Bionsen I'm looking at you). After 5 days the deo works well enough for me to be confident during these hot days in the office but doesn't really stand up to a gym workout. My pits do have a bit of a smell by the end of the day, but very mild and you'd have to literally have your nose in my armpit to tell - there is no BO 'waft' factor (at least according to DH!). I get the feeling the product is gradually making me smell less and less every day (I'm not that smelly to start with though ;)

Thanks again and I'll post longer-term feedback in a couple of weeks.

I'm a tester and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it works so far! I received the package with the deodorant last week, but waited until Monday to try it. I was amused that despite having two lids the spray bottle still leaked in the envelope, so I won't be putting it into any gym bags or anything.

The instructions say that the deodorant only works if applied to freshly cleaned skin, so I've been applying it straight after my morning bath every day. The spray bottle isn't brilliant, it sort of sends an unpredictable splatter rather than the mist you get from an aerosol, so I've been soaking my pits and feet with a few sprays. It takes around a minute to dry according to the instructions, and I think that's about right. Enough time to put skincare on and untangle my hair a bit before getting dressed. It's probably just changed my morning routine, but it'd be annoying in a hurry.

I haven't been using this long enough to be really certain, but so far I think that I actually smell LESS than I did with my regular antiperspirant. I'm genuinely really pleasantly surprised! I don't like covering myself in perfumed crap, so I tried one of the crystal solid deodorants mumble years ago when I was a teenager and not only did I smell, the actual crystal started to smell. This is a totally different experience! Yesterday was a heatwave, and I had a stressful morning taking my baby for vaccinations, then spent the whole afternoon working hard in the garden and while I was a tiny bit smelly (and covered in mud) by the end, I am sure I was less smelly than with my usual antiperspirant, plus I didn't also smell of cheap perfumes.

I'm really chuffed with this so far, and if it still works at the end of the test I could easily see myself switching.

Was expecting to be disappointed but pitrok has so far held up to some of the hottest, muggiest conditions of the year so far & grappling with two small kids, jumping and dancing etc. I find it works best on freshly shaved armpits and it's essential to let it dry before dressing (even chucking a dressing gown on whilst it's damp seems to make it less effective imo).

The scent is growing on me (!) and initially reminded me of those pheromone sprays marketed when I was a teenager - a bit musky but not overwhelming.

It doesn't seem to be completely blocking BO but I wonder if I've just become used to smelling synthetic fragrances rather than my normal body smell after years of Mitchum. It's a bit unsettling but so far no one else has mentioned anything negative.

Waiting for the detox effect - not sure how long this takes/what it should feel/smell like but I'm sticking with it for now. Feels nice to be using something natural after years of worrying about aluminium and chemicals in my deodorant.

So far so good. I like the packaging, but going from a standard roll on to a pump spray has been a bit of a change and I did manage to squirt my cheek instead of my armpit when not paying attention.
So far seems to be doing a better job than my old antiperperant at keeping smell at bay, but you feel the sweat more which takes some getting used to.
It has been given a really good test this week, (deciding to shampoo the carpet at 38 weeks pregnant on the hottest September day for 50 years was a daft move) and so far I am very pleased.

So far I'm impressed. As others have said the slight scent is a bit off putting (the nasal spray comment up the thread is actually I really good description!) but after a couple of days I'd gotten used to it. I've used stick deodorant for years so having to wait for it to dry is an adjustment and it sometimes feels a little sticky until totally dry.

However, I've had no reaction to it, my under arm skin is definitely looking better already, and it not being an aerosol means no asthma or sneezing reaction either. I often struggle with aerosols as i Hypermobility gives me a week grip but this is very easy to use, even at my weakest.

Given the hot weather this last week, plus the return of the school run, being on crutches and pregnant, the antiperspirant properties have really been put through a test! I'm very impressed so far! Even after being stuck on a train without air con I wasn't stinking, if a little sweat damp. I'll be interested to see how it's working after a couple more weeks.

First impressions were okay, I thought the packaging looked a bit basic, but that doesn't really bother me. The scent of the spray I quite like, and the feel of it on my skin is lovely compared to my usual powdery aerosols. I've really struggled with rashes/ irritated underarm skin over the years and especially since I had my DD, this feels so much kinder to my skin and I really like it. I am not a fan of the spray action though as I feel like I have to spray an absolute ton of the stuff to get any kind of coverage, it's just quite a narrow and hard to focus spray if that makes any sense. If the spray action was better, a bit of a broader reach and therefore it felt like I was wasting less I think this would be pretty close to becoming my go to deodorant. So overally, I'm impressed so far.

I'm on day 3 now. I must say i
I find it far too wet and takes several minutes to dry. It has an odd smell, not quite unpleasant but at the same time not particularly nice. I haven't had chance to put it to the real test under hot or sweaty conditions yet.

First impressions are that i like the packaging and the scent. I love the fact it is a spray and not a harsh aerosol spray. When i soray it it doesn't fill they room with a thick smoke like a lot of aerosol sprays do which i am very midful of with two young children, one being newborn.
The deodrant leaves you feeling very fresh when sprayed which i liked.
It already has a positive result on my underarm leaving the skin feeling smoother and softer.
I am already really pleased and impressed with this product. I am looking forward to using it more and would definitely consider switching to this product at the end of the trial.

Hi there!
I can't say I've noticed a smell to this deodorant at all, that was actually something I miss as I'm not a big perfume wearer....but that does not take away the fact it's very gentle and fresh feeling.
The 2 caps originally seemed odd but doesn't actually bother me!
After using, I certainly don't smell sweaty or unpleasant throughout the whole day.

Initial thoughts are, I like it, it does the job and yes I would go out to buy it!

ReedBunting · 15/09/2016 11:30

So far I'm quite impressed. The pump spray is better than I was expecting as I've had bad experiences with non aerosol sprays in the past that just dribble or send out to much of a jet rather than a fine mist. Scent wise I'm not too fussed - it is unscented but I appreciate that the ingredients themselves might have a slight odour. Anyway it's not unpleasant and doesn't linger. It dries fairly quickly - far quicker than some roll ons so that's a bonus. It very briefly stang when I used it on freshly shaved armpits. The double cap is a little annoying but assume that's to help prevent leaks in transit. Despite the tropical temperatures this week coupled with high humidity I've been impressed. Yes I have been sweating but I have not smelt bad as a result.

First impressions of this deodorant is very stylish, however when I went to spray it under my arms yesterday, I only applied a little bit to both arms and it started to drip down my arm, and the two caps don't stay on. Other than that, it's definitely kept the BO away.

Thanks for sending me the product. I liked the packaging and the outlook of the product. I am only on day 1 so will post more once I have used it for a few days. The odd scent is slightly off putting but it did disappear after a few minutes. I also like the fact that it's all natural.

I've been using this product for 5 days now and my first impressions are very good. It was one of the hottest September days on record 2 days ago and I certainly wasn't sweaty or smelly.

I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant with my second child and am having some issues with my skin but not on my underarms.

I've been applying the deodorant after a bath but I have been finding it stings slightly when being applied. Not sure if this is due to me shaving in the bath though.

The only thing I'm struggling with it how many sprays I should be applying for each armpit. The first time I used the deodorant, it ended up dribbling down my sides.

MilkyMamma · 15/09/2016 11:34

First impressions are I love how it applies, it's nice to be able to apply antiperspirant without being left with a cloud of dust in the room. I've been using it a few days now and not 100% on if it's effective, though it has been super warm, and I'm pregnant which means I'm even warmer!

I could definitely see myself switching to it though.

First impressions have been good. I like the packaging and the simplicity. My armpits also haven't it he'd as much as usual. Have a stonking cold at the moment so can't judge the smell. Am not feeling any wetter though, even in a 35 degree classroom.

It looks good, nice bottle, would buy it based on appearance.
Smells chemically.
Extremely warm weather has perhaps affected the results, but I showered, applied as per instructions, spent an hour in the garden cutting bushes back and smelled like I hadn't showered.
Will continue to test and see how it goes.

first impressions is ok.i like the simplicity yet didn't of the design.i know that makes no sense but it was neither here nor there so didn't make me think id see it to pick out of thousands of others if it was on the shelves.
the smell was there and it wasn't pleasant, almost as if being unscentered meant we smelt the chemicals or whatever ingredients there are and I know there will be some sciency smells to that.so I would have actually preferred a delicate yet comforting smell, cottony or linen like to it.it would add to the sensisitvie nature.
