This thread is for the ten Mumsnetters who were chosen by INNOVO® to test and keep their new pelvic floor stimulator, which is designed to alleviate stress incontinence.

Stress incontinence is the term used when leaks accidently occur from coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping or doing heavy lifting. These simple movements put pressure on the bladder and, should your pelvic floor muscles be unable to tighten enough, will cause a leak. Stress incontinence can also be called bladder weakness or urinary incontinence. INNOVO® is a new pelvic floor stimulator that works to strengthen the muscle and put an end to those pesky leaks.

Here’s what INNOVO™ have to say about their product:
‘Innovotherapy is a non-invasive way to restore your pelvic floor, treating the primary cause of urinary leaks rather than just masking the symptoms. Using a hand held controller that is attached to a two part garment, Innovotherapy sends targeted impulses via conductive pads (attached to your upper thigh and buttocks) to safely and effectively activate the muscles of the pelvic floor. It is a proven technology which has been designed to optimally strengthen your pelvic floor with 180 perfect contractions per session, allowing the device to do your pelvic floor exercises for you.
Results from a research study prove that women who experience stress incontinence will experience significant improvements in as little as four weeks by using INNOVO® five days a week for 30 minutes. After 12 weeks of treatment the participants were defined as being ‘dry’ or ‘almost dry’. So it won’t take long to get your confidence back’

Testers were asked to use the product for thirty minutes per day, five times per week, over a twelve week period – the recommended treatment programme from INNOVO®.

Testers, please answer the following questions:

-How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?
-What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®?
-What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?
-Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?
-Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?

Non testers, in order to be entered into the prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an INNOVO® worth £249, please tell us how the machine would improve your life by strengthening your pelvic floor.

All testers who complete the feedback process will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher.

Thanks, MNHQ

My life would be improved as id feel much more confident and happier to have another baby. smile

Atlas15 Tue 26-Jul-16 17:59:15

non tester here
It would help me be more confident when exercising and not have to get changed when I have a multitude of sneezes.

rewardformissingmojo Tue 26-Jul-16 17:59:49

Non-tester - how did I miss this?! I have a prolapse after 3 children vaginally. Been referred by GP to a Continence Nurse Specialist but boy, she was patronising and really didn't listen to me. I can't face going back. I would be tempted to buy it, but so many other expenses at the moment (car wing mirror, summer Childcare). Reviews look great!

Non-Tester:
I would absolutely love to win something like this. My pelvic floor and incontinence is something that I really worry about. If I sneeze, laugh, jump etc I leak and I actually wet myself the other day when walking my dog and I had to strain to keep hold of his lead at one point. I had my teenage sons with me and I was mortified. Ive also now started to notice that I leak slightly when I stand up from finishing on the loo. I hate it sad

-How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?
Fab support. I knew I could contact innovo at any time via email or phone but I found I didn't really need help and that the help video was easy to follow. Managed to start using straight away!

-What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®? At the start I struggled to find the time to use it so split it into two 15 minute sessions per day while I ironed the clothes in morning and before bed. After a few weeks I used it while the soaps were on so easily managed a full 30 minutes at a time.

-What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?
Quite a tingly sensation. Took a few weeks before I could go to the higher numbers due to the sensation rather than any pain etc.

-Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?
For the first time in years I have been able to actively take part in a clubbercise exercise class without wearing a discreet pad! This is a huge thing for me!

-Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?
DEFINATELY. If you are committed it really can make a huge difference. It's only now that I realise how bad my pelvic floor was. !!!
Thanks for choosing me as a tester!

chaplin1409 Tue 26-Jul-16 18:28:46

Non tester,
I would love to win this I have an over active bladder but also find that coughing and sneezing can lead to leaking so being able to improve this would make such a difference to me and my children as I would actually be able to go out longer.

VilootShesCute Tue 26-Jul-16 18:33:30

I've had three children. Ds was 10lb 2oz. Pelvic floor? What pelvic floor?!

MimsyBorogroves Tue 26-Jul-16 18:46:39

I was desperate for one of these too. I had one big baby and two traumatic births which have left me leaky and with reduced feeling, and it's just so depressing. I'm constantly neurotic about the state of my pants and feel like I shouldn't be at my age.

ohhelpohnoitsa Tue 26-Jul-16 18:58:25

Even if I didnt already have a weak pelvic floor, I would want to try it based on gloria's feedabck alone!!! I do have weak muscles, 3 very large babies, recurrent feirce cough every winter and laziness with pelvic floor exercises had left me needing pads all the time. At the moment I only use everyday liners but it is only going to get worse isn't it. I do try to do kegal excercises but never know if I am doing them right and never really know if I am making any difference. I also would.love to be able to walk to the loo normally instead of being so fearful of leaks that I end up doing some weird shuffle like Max Wall!!!

So sad I missed this. My pelvic floor makes me so unhappy every day and feel like it affects my whole life. Have a prolapse from difficult birth and can't enjoy the sport I used to love, laughing is difficult (which affects my job!) and feel like this part of my body has just ruined my ability to feel happy and throw myself into things.

Catsgowoof Tue 26-Jul-16 19:30:07

non tester who would be much keener to join the kids trampolining

Chelsea26 Tue 26-Jul-16 19:43:28

Non - tester and one of these would be amazing. I could deal with the leaking but it saddens me to think that at only 36, I have had the last enjoyable penetrative sex of my life. I know you can do other stuff but it was so much better when we both enjoyed it sad

ButterflyOfFreedom Tue 26-Jul-16 19:47:49

Non tester

I REALLY wanted to be picked to test this, it sounds amazing!
Since having my 2 children my pelvic floor has just gone! I'm (only) 36 and didn't think I would be having to deal with a 'leaky bladder'. It is embarrassing (I have actually full on wet myself once whilst out walking with a friend - it's the hills!!) and just knocks my confidence.
I just want to enjoy walking / running/ playing with my cchildren etc without the worry of 'leakage'!!

PayAttentionNigel Tue 26-Jul-16 20:25:47

Non tester.
I would like to win as basically it would be quite nice to not be paranoid about smelling like a men's urinal. So depressing to be like this at my age sad

LifeIsGoodish Tue 26-Jul-16 21:51:23

Wow! This sounds amazing!

IIRC I applied to be a tester, but wasn't picked. Still, it triggered me to have another go at PFEs. There was some improvement - I managed to play with my dc on the trampoline. But one day I was on playground duty at work, and tried to demo a skipping step. Oh dear. As far as the schoolchildren know, Mrs LifeIs has forgotten how to skip. The truth is, of course, that I leaked and had to stop. Fortunately I keep spare undies st work. Wouldn't it be lovely if I didn't have to...?

Givemecoffeeplease Tue 26-Jul-16 22:07:18

My bits would love one of these - still not right after DC1 and DC2 didn't help either. Would love to be able to go back to the physical exercise - running, star jumps etc - I used to take for granted.

Boglin Tue 26-Jul-16 22:25:25

Firstly, thank you so much for choosing me to test this product, I am so grateful!

How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?

I thought it was made very easy, I was sent a video to show how to set it up and I also got a phone call to talk me through using it for the first time which was really useful.

The support was really good. I contacted Caroline at Innovo after my device stopped working so well due to the gel pads losing their stickiness and my having lost weight since signing up. Within two days I received a new set of gel pads and a smaller set of leg bands.

-What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®?

It became my 'me' time in the evenings and I used the opportunity to have a lie down on my bed and read a book/watch tv.

-What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?

Very like a TENS machine, I didn't find it painful but it could get quite intense if I went too high too soon. I did eventually build up to the level suggested though.

-Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?

There has been a definite improvement, I no longer need to wear a liner every day in case of leaks and I feel like I'm back in control of my own body. I noticed the change after about 4 weeks and even my husband has commented that things feel tighter.

-Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?

Yes, absolutely, it's done more for me in 12 weeks than years of trying to do pelvic floor exercises.

FlopIsMyParentingGuru Tue 26-Jul-16 23:14:30

Non tester here.
I've had two children and my pelvic floor bears the scars. Stretch marks I can accept and a csection "smile" are nothing to be ashamed of. But my weak pelvic floor, I hide.
I've lost five stone over the past year to get back in shape but still I find myself dashing for the toilet hoping I'll make it, or clenching when I cough.
I would love to win this in the hope that I could, in some small way, get my pelvic floor back.

woodwaj Wed 27-Jul-16 06:54:14

I'd love to win this. I eagerly followed the original thread to see the progress. I would love to be able to afford one!

At 30 years old i didnt think i would constantly have to wear liners. It is particularly bad around ovulation which i can now predict like clockwork!! Although i wouldnt even consider ttc like this i dread to think what no.2 would do to me!!

TheDailyWail Wed 27-Jul-16 07:29:30

I would love to win this. My mum has recently had surgery to deal with her prolapsed womb and I suffer too.

I'm also quite sad to see that so many of us suffer in silence.

EreniTheFrog Wed 27-Jul-16 08:52:08

Non-tester here. I'd like one of these because I'd like my pelvic floor back.

Mummychoochoo3 Wed 27-Jul-16 08:59:42

Non Tester here. Would be great not to feel so embarrassed about leaking especially when out in public.

I'm a tester and here is my feedback:

How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?
Yes, INNOVO were very helpful and I spoke to a lady in their team several times to make sure I was using it correctly and trouble shoot any issues. The videos on their website were also very helpful.

-What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®?
I mainly use it in the evenings after eating and watch some trashy telly! The time passes quickly this way.

-What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?
It's hard to describe and not what I imagined. Not painful but a tensing sensation in your bum/thighs/pelvic floor.

-Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?

Yes definitely! It's amazing how much difference it has made. The improvement started within 2 weeks. Things I'm better able to do is running and trampolining with my toddler which I really struggled with before.

-Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?

Absolutely, in my opinion it's worth the money if you are struggling.

Tenpastlate Wed 27-Jul-16 09:48:09

I would love to try the product as I have a rectocele and my gynae physio recommended a series of pelvic exercises which she said are usually given for stress incontinence. I would love to see if the INNOVO can help me to avoid surgery in the future.

mclarengurl Wed 27-Jul-16 11:44:28

Tester here - I can not recommend this product enough!

How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?
YES, I watched the video before hand, read all the paperwork and once the product arrived I set extra time aside than the 30 minutes to ensure I was comfortable with putting the Innovo on. The support from the Innovo team has been great, really friendly, easy to talk to.

What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®?
I would either watch OITNB Netflix or read a magazine, I did this in the evenings and it was a great way to just switch off for half an hour.

What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?
It felt a little strange at first, but felt how it does when completely pelvic floor exercises manually, but I found so long as I didn't increase the intensity too high for the first 2 weeks it was fine.

Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?
Yes, I started to notice after week 3 that I could sneeze with no effect
By week 4 I was on the trampoline, all be it 15 minutes, but still! with my son, and by 12 weeks, stress incontinence is at the back of my mind.

Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?
Absolutely! I can't recommend this product enough. It works so well so soon, and gives you back a little bit more confidence each week.

Thank you for the opportunity to test this product out, it really has changed my mindset and my confidence to the point that I really started to care about my body again, and lost the extra weight I'd put on over the last 5 years and no back to my pre-pregnancy weight and lost a total of 18lb!
