-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

Date Night - We sat down together to look at the Deliveroo restaurant options. We were surprised at how many restaurants were available to us, hadn't realised how many we would have to choose from. DP loves Gourmet Burger Kitchen so that is what we went with. The menu was well laid out and easy to navigate to different courses. We like that there were bundles available to save money.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

It was very easy to use, very well laid out and user friendly. Pleasantly surprised that we could customise our burgers, I opted for no relish and DP opted for no onion and no tomato. Sadly DP's burger arrived with onion, no biggy but would have been nice for the customisation to work.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Once order placed, we were told it would arrive within 55 minutes. It actually arrived in 45 minutes, very impressed as I know how busy city centre can be at this time of night. The Deliveroo driver was friendly and apologetic but we were happy it was within the initial time frame given to us. Our meal arrived in two paper bags, drinks in one, food in another.

Having seen Deliveroo cyclists locally we were a bit concerned our food would arrive shaken up, but it actually arrived in perfect condition. The burgers were clearly labelled so we knew immediately which was ours, the sides were carefully wrapped in paper bag, with little plastic pots containing our sauces.

I could see my DP eager to tuck in but he had to wait a minute for me to take a few photos for the mumsnet review. Even after photos the food was still a warm temperature, not cold at all. Our drinks were still nicely cold on arrival. Glad to find a couple of straws in the bag along with a few napkins.

Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Overall we were really pleased with our Deliveroo date night, based on tonight's experience we would definitely use Deliveroo again. We have already recommended Deliveroo to quite a few friends and will continue to do so, we had such a great date night. It was nice to have restaurant food in the comfort of our own home. Definitely something we will keep in mind when opting for our usual local takeaway.

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

We used Deliveroo for a family night; to mix up an ordinary Tuesday and as a treat on a Friday night Grin

*How easy was it to use

Really easy! I downloaded the app and it picked up my area via gps. The choice in my area was pretty limited (when compared with my friends- I have them all converted Grin, that said, I found something different and took me out of my comfort zone.

How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Super quick! Under 30 mins. The live notifications on my phone were really helpful too. I got notification when the driver left the restaurant. In this respect, it's far superior to competitor apps (no names, but I've had to phone take away joints repeatedly to enquire as to the location of my food!)

Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Already have, to several!!

Pros= limited, but zesty collection. Great packaging and delivery service. Good was super hot and all as it should be.

Cons= one of the restaurants I tried did not fulfil the order I requested on two seperate nights. While this was promptly related to me by the Deliveroo team, it's disappointing given it was two seperate occassions.

On the whole, I thoroughly recommend Deliveroo. It's super. I'll be using again. Thank you for picking me, mumsnet Wine

I am so sorry - I completely forgot to take photos! The food looked great though, delivered in handy easy-to-open, recyclable cardboard boxes.

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?
We used it for a an early dinner date, but ordered food for DS too so when he came home later in the evening he ate too.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
It was extremely easy to use.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
Excellent - we were given a wait time of 45 minutes at time of ordering and the food arrived in around half that time.

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?
Yes, definitely, especially if they add more restaurants in our town.

We'll definitely use this service again. It was so easy and we were really impressed with the speed of delivery and the quality of the food (aware that's down to the restaurant!). My portion actually lasted me for two meals, it was huge. I'm not sure about the £2.50 charge they add on to use the service, but I suppose it's fair for the convenience/delivery costs. I also like that you can tip the driver online, rather than have any awkwardness at the door. All in all, we were very impressed and will be recommending them to family and friends.

Thanks, Mumsnet!

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?
Family night - my son and I had been out all day so we were ready for our takeaway night!

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
Extremely easy - I knew most of the restaurants and their dishes but if someone is not familiar to the dishes, it may help to have pictures of more descriptions of them.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
Excellent, they had said 45 mins, they were there within 25, the food was all packaged very well and still warm. 10/10!

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?
Definitely, I have been waxing lyrical to my friends about it already and those who don't have it are jealous!

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?
We used our voucher for a family treat night.
Our dd (7) had her end of year dance show that was due to finish at 8.30pm after having been there all day for rehearsals and two shows so we thought take away would be the perfect way to end the evening. Our ds’s were with us so all hyper and not ready to go straight to bed! We were going to go for Yo Sushi as it is a favourite o hers but found it hard to choose without pictures! So instead we went local chicken restaurant. Our kids all love KFC but it is not something we would usually chose (motorway service stations only) so it was good to see an alternative that promoted high welfare chicken but similar food.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
Very easy – I actually chose the meal at 11am on the Saturday morning as was able to select a delivery time which was great as there was no worry when we were out and about. I selected a 9.30 pm delivery as the show ended at 8.30 and was about tens minutes drive away.
The show obviously ran over but we got back for 9.15 which was lucky as the delivery came at 9.15 so 15 minutes earlier which could have cause a problem but luckily did not – well a slight issue as our four year old saw it and decided to stay up and have a second dinner!

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
Speed was great if not too fast!

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes without a doubt – great food and service. So nice to sit down to restaurant food at home – everything looked nice and was nice!

If you took pictures of your food, please post them in your comment too!

- What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

Date night. I ordered the food on my phone while my partner put the baby to bed. We had a nice meal then a film while the little one slept upstairs.

- How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

Really easy. I used the iPhone app which was very simple to navigate and order. Only suggestion for improvement is that some restaurants have quite long minutes and it would be good to be able to skip down to a particular section from the top, without having to scroll through everything.

There was a reasonable selection of restaurants in my area. We usually use Just Eat, which is mainly curry, Chinese, kebabs. It was great to have a choice of some new places, and the ones on Deliveroo were more the type of place we'd go to on a date night if we were going out. There are a couple more restaurants that I definitely want to try.

- How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Great, arrived on time. Absolutely loved the facility that lets you track the order online and the updates to tell me when my food was about to arrive. I was at the door before the bell rang (actually useful with a sleeping tot). Food was well packaged and still hot.*
*

- Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes, have done already. And we will definitely use it again ourselves.
Would love to see some more restaurants join in our area. A tapas restaurant would be brilliant, please Grin

Photos of our meal. We had Mexican: garlic bread starter, topped flatbread (like a pizza) and a burrito with chips, plus a couple of beers. Food was all very tasty

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?
A family night. My husband and son spent the WHOLE of Sunday watching all the last series of Game of Thrones, followed by the UEFA match in the evening. So we ordered the meal for 6.00pm.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
Extremely easy. We knew which restaurant we wanted to use beforehand, so just went online and picked their 'banquet' menu. The restaurant wasn't open in the afternoon, so we had an anxious couple of hours in case it wasn't accepted or even no communication at all. But we needn't have worried. They emailed 10 minutes after they opened.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
First class. It was 5 minutes early and piping hot.

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?
Definitely - and we'll be using it again :)

What did you use Deliveroo for? A date night with DH

How easy was it to use Deliveroo? The app is incredibly user friendly. We had a great selection of restaurants to choose from and ordering was as simple as a few swipes on my iPhone.

How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service? From placing the order the app said the food would be with us within 50 minutes and it actually arrived a little earlier than that, very impressive.

Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend? Definitely for choice and ease of use. It does work out on the expensive price for what is ultimately a takeaway - you're paying restaurant prices but don't have the restaurant experience ultimately, but the ease of the whole experience and of course removing the need for babysitters (and that cost) probably balances it all out.

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

We used Deliveroo for a family night in.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

It was fairly easy to use Deliveroo, however there were apparently companies that use Deliveroo but weren't listed on the site. Also we placed an pre-order with a company and then got a call about half an hour later telling us they couldn't deliver our order. Then we had to order through another company and our meal ended up coming out later than we'd have liked (not good when we had hungry children waiting for it!).

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Once ordered the delivery itself wasn't too bad. It arrived fairly quickly.

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes I would recommend it to a friend. It is a good way to have a nice restaurant style meal at home.

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

We used it for a family night - the children were very excited to have a much wider choice than whatever is in walking distance from the house! We had sushi.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

Very easy. I used the website, and could see which restaurants were available at that particular time, and what would be available later if I chose to wait.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Very fast! I was quoted 45 mins but the food arrived in 30. It was well packaged - the hot food still piping hot, and the sushi and beers in chilled boxes.

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes. I thought the delivery charge was very reasonable and the service was excellent. It would be great for a party or special occasion, given the choice available where I live.

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

A family night, we had a family day out and knew we would be quite late back so didn't fancy cooking!

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

Really easy, lots of choice, couldn't decide between lots of yummy looking food (lots i'd never been to aswell), but as my son has a mild allergy we went for the 'safe' option of pizza!

I pre-ordered the food at about 11am and had an email shortly after to confirm the restaurant had accepted and that it would be delivered at 7.30pm. The restaurant I chose did a specific kids meal with starter/main/desert which I thought was a really nice touch.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Ah, this is where it started to go a bit wrong!

There is a very handy tracker that tells you when your order has been accepted/prepared/collected/deliveredd,

The kids were really excited about our 'feast'and as soon as we got in from our day out at 7pm we started watching it, at 7.20pm the food was prepared so we were looking forward to receiving it at 7.30ish like we had specified.

We watched the tracker expectantly,, nothing changed, at 7.55pm I emailed customer service and waited, at 8pm I got a text to say my order would be delivered 5-10 mins later than expected (7.35-7.40pm?)
at 8.20 I noticed the live chat and contacted a rep who looked into it and confirmed it was on its way to us and apologised. By this time the kids were starving and I was happy that it was going to arrive!!

The driver arrived at about 8.30pm and apologised for the delay and handed over the food which was sadly stone cold (as presumably it was made an hour earlier) and missing the childrens deserts!!

To be honest I was glad we went with pizza as at least it wasn't too bad to reheat, although it wasn't anywhere near as nice as I think it would have been fresh. if we had gone with some other options I think it would have had to be chucked.

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes and no, the choice is great, and its lovely to be able to get restaurant food at home, however knowing that the food had been sitting somewhere for an hour before It got to us isn't the best, especially when feeding young children. I wouldn't have minded the food being late so much if it had at least been freshly made/hot and the childrens deserts I had told them about had been included!

I did receive an email from customer service a week later with an apology and a £15 credit (which I told them wasn't necessary) which made up for some of the initial disappointment.

Overall, I would use them again, just probably not for a family meal as it was all a bit disappointing and stressful!!

We used it for a date night.

We used the very generous offer for a date night :)

We have a 6 month old so don't get out very often, more because I can't bear to leave the baby than anything else - psycho mom.

Our only rule was to not order from any chain restaurants that are easy to go to all the time and to order from somewhere we hadn't been. We ordered from a local restaurant that we had struggled to get a reservation from in the past Because it is tiny and has a great reputation. We went wild! We ordered loads of little dishes because I like variety and knew we wouldn't get the opportunity to go to this restaurant for a while. Everything just sounded so good! The service was as easy, if not easier, than other online takeaway sites. It came so so quick. Quicker than any food we've ever had delivered, but seemed totally fresh. And I do not at all grudge the £2.50 for the service. 100% plan to order from deliveroo again, and have already recommended it to anyone that will listen to me really.

Date night

How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
Very easy, downloaded the app and pre-ordered the food the day before as we knew we were in for a busy day and didn't want to run the risk of eating late.

How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
The rider was early but seemed to waiting outside the house until I waved him in, I didn't want the food sitting on his bike for 15 mins until it was the actual delivery time.

Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?
Yes, we were a little disappointed with the number of restaurants to choose from but this will obviously differ for other areas.

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

I had a family get together with my in laws and husband.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

The website was really easy to use but I did find that for some reason there was a line through some of the items we wanted to eat on one of the restaurants menus and so had to choose a different restaurant.

Very good. I was given an estimate of 45 minutes and it arrived in exactly 45 minutes!

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes it was great for something a bit different! We wanted Italian instead of the usual take away choices. The food was really nice although didn't look that appealing when taken out of the containers!

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

Date night - it was fab, one of our favourite restaurants but in bed with movies!

DH ordered some sort of giant burger which made it a bit man v food and provided some extra entertainment.

-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

Site was very easy to navigate. Only annoying thing was you couldn't see all the possible restaurants, only the ones available at that delivery time so I had to keep changing the time to check out what there was.

Our first order didn't go through which was a bit irritating, same order for delivery 15 minutes earlier was fine.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

We preordered so hard to judge and despite 3 hours notice they were still 15 minutes late! They did text to let us know though. Food was warm when it arrived so that was fine.

-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Yes, quality of the food was great, much nicer than the usual take away and not that much more expensive really. It felt like a real treat.

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?
We used it for a family night.
-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
The website was fairly easy to use but there were a few bits that I think could be better.

  1. It was not clear if we could order from more than one restaurant, it looked like we could but then lost our order from the first restaurant.
  2. It could have been my computer, but when you selected an item, it was a bit slow responding, so it was easy to click twice by mistake. the little box on the right made it difficult to check what you had ordered, as it was so small.
  1. With Pizza express there was no option to customise you order at all, for example I always ask for my pasta dishes without the cheese sprinkled on top.

-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
Very good, it said 30mins but I think it was a little quicker than that.
-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?
We ordered Pizza Express including a kids meal for my dd. This should have been garlic dough balls, pizza & chocolate brownie. Unfortunately only the pizza part of her meal arrived. I immediately went onto the Deliveroo live chat, when the guy looked at my account he initially said my account was marked as VIP and he could not access it, I would need to call or email another number!!! Which made me wonder if the Mumsnet reviewers were getting priority deliveries so they all write glowing reviews. However when I told him that I was not going to let my dinner go cold whilst I phoned or emailed someone , he did look into it and offered to get the missing bits delivered or give me a refund. I asked for a refund, which has not come through to my credit card yet (we spent more than the £40), so I suspect they have added the refund to my deliveroo account which I'm not be too happy about.
I did like the choice of restaurants, as there were a few lovely local independent restaurants, I should have gone for the date night option instead! We tried Pizza Express as its my dd's favourite, but as well as the missing items, the garlic butter for my portion of garlic dough balls, had melted and spilt over the box with my cheesecake it, so we were not overly impressed with the meal itself.
I would try the service again & if it was better next time I would recommend to friends.

I wanted to add a really sparkling review because I've used Deliveroo before so I'm sad that I have to bring you my honest thoughts.

We used it for a family night and although it was easy to use from our favourite Wagamama, there was an extra complication as my son likes his dish modified due to aspergers, in the past we emailed deliveroo and they changed it with the restaurant but this time we were advised in future to contact the restaurant direct. You know what you should do is have a comment box so you can pass the comments on directly when you place the order. The food only took about half an hour to arrive and we were so disappointed that everything was lukewarm, i did take photos but I'm so disappointed by our experience that I feel I don't want to share them. We soldiered on with our luke warm spicy pepper chilli, duck ramen etc and less than 2 hours later I was having pains in my tummy and stuck on the loo if you know what I mean. I'm fairly sure I had mild food poisoning due to the food not being hot enough.

Will I order again or recommend Deliveroo? I'm honestly not sure, it was a company I really trusted but £40 of lukewarm food which made me ill isn't what I would want to do again, we're not that far away from Wagamama either and the guy arrived on a motorbike so it can't be that but there was a definite failure I feel.

-What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?
We used it for a family night when my sister came to visit.
-How easy was it to use Deliveroo?
It was really easy! The app is well designed and easy to use, and the customisation options on the restaurant we used were clear and most importantly, honoured!
-How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?
Hmm. Not too bad, but the conversation with the driver where he insisted he was standing on my doorstep wasn't great! He'd used a satnav and not looked at the actual address it had taken him to, and was insisting he was at the right address, despite me telling him where he needed to go.
-Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?
I think so! It's nice to be able to choose somewhere a bit different to pizza/chinese/indian for takeout! I assumed the prices would be inflated but they weren't, and the delivery charge was entirely reasonable I feel.

I didn't add a tip, as I tip for good service, and adding the tip before you've even placed the order seems like an extra delivery charge rather than a tip!

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

We used it for a family night on a Sunday evening.

  • How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

Exceptionally easy. The app was very easy to use. I liked that it shows you what restaurants will be available at other times and on other days allowing me to plan ahead. There was a good choice of restaurant. It took a couple of attempts for the payment to go through but I found the app very intuitive. I loved that I could tip via the app so I didn't have to worry about finding change or anything

  • How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

Excellent. It took 45 minutes and was being delivered to a flat in a new development so it's not the easiest place to find

  • Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

Absolutely and I will definitely be using it again

I'm afraid we were all starving so I didn't get a picture of the food but it was really well packed in sturdy packaging and the food was in a really good state when it arrived

What did you use Deliveroo for – a date night or a family night?

Date night

How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

The website was easy to use. DP and I always argue about who has to phone to order takeaway as we both hate doing it, so we liked being able to order online. It also meant that I could put my choices in while DP gave DD a bath, then he could add his afterwards while I put the baby to bed.

There were a good range of options in our area including a wine shop! It wasn't clear whether we could choose options from multiple restaurants in one order.

In the end we chose a local sushi restaurant, I love sushi but it is a rare treat these days with a fussy toddler to cater for.

How would you rate the speed of the Deliveroo service?

We placed the order at around 8. The website said that our order would take 40 minutes, while I was ordering this increased to 50 mins. At 8.40 we had a text saying that it would be delayed by 5-10 minutes and it arrived exactly ten minutes late. We weren't that bothered as we had a bottle of wine and a movie on the go and I liked that we were kept updated - when you order takeaway by phone and it is late the worst part is worrying that they have forgotten your order.

I was worried the food might have been squashed as they are carried by bikes with the food on their back, however it was fine.

Would you recommend Deliveroo to a friend?

yes, I would recommend the service.

I do have concerns that their delivery staff are not paid a living wage, which might put me off ordering in future.
