This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Toujours Nappies with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack
Size 5 Junior (11-25kg) 44 pack
Size 6 Extra Large Nappies 30 pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
‘Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. We ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and the Toujours range is now more flexible giving your baby the comfort and freedom to explore the world. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality high. Toujours is dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, minimising our carbon footprint.’

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

20 months old and in size 5 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was pleasantly surprised with the nappies. I have tried many brands and always come back to pampers as all others leaked. These did not leak at all even when very full. My daughter was very comfortable and happy and didn't get any kind of rash (which she is prone to). They don't feel as nice as pampers. They are quite plasticky and therefore cheaper.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I think I would.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would. They work well ,are comfortable for my daughter and inexpensive compared to my normal brand. The slight plasticky feeling does put me off somewhat but the price point reflects the feel of the nappy. I also liked the designs on the nappies -very cute.

Overall I think I would now make a special trip to stock up on these nappies .😊

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes but u prefer aldi nappies

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes if I was doing a shop there I would chuck a pack in but I choose aldi ones first

)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
Ds2 has just turned 3, altho he is small, in age 18-24 month clothes. He just wears nappies at night and is generally dry in the morning. We had a size 5.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I thought they were great, stayed quite thin and didn't bulk up like some other nappies when wet. No funny smells on the nappy either, i don't understand why some other brands do smell! DS did not like the little girl on the front of the packet though lol, he said he wasn't wearing them as they were for girls!

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes!

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes! I think they are a great product and really the value is pretty amazing. Just as good as brand names but much better price point!

My children are 2 & 3 and I used size 6 the extra large size nappies.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the nappies and also the sizing. My Son (3 year old) was diagnosed severely Autistic last year and potty training is not even on the cards yet. I have been searching high and low for a decent size nappy I can get from a supermarket. Very impressed with this!

Yes I'd recommend to a friend as she can make her own opinion. I think they're good for our needs.

Yes I'd buy again!

😊

20 weeks old, size 3

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the fact they didn't leak, even after my daughter wore them for 12 hours on a night! Pleasantly surprised by this since they are such good value! They do feel a little plasticky however this is reflected by the low price.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes definitely

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would definitely buy them as they are such great value and apart from Pampers, these are the only nappies I have found that don't leak overnight

My son is 2 3months and I used the size 4 maxi. I was very impressed with the absorption. No leaks at all during the whole night or in the daytime. They did not sag when on after a fee hours. They seemed very comfy too and not bulky. Great value for money.
I would recommend them to a friend.

I have another baby on the way and i would try the newborn range. I will be trying the size 4 maxi again also.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Didn't look as sturdy as the ones I've used before from Asda and Aldi, but the kept baby just as dry. They are smaller than the Aldi newborn so I would stick with Aldi for now as if I went up to size 2 Lidl it'd be more expensive

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

No as they are the same price as Aldi but smaller and don't have a colour change line.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

No as they dont have a colour change line to indicate wetness

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would, price is great and so is the quality.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? I'm expecting a new baby in August and i am so impressed with the quality I will be buying them for my new baby. Can't argue with the price and I would say they are on a par with Pampers.

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

They are 2, 3 and 5 (3 and 5 year old night time nappies only) and they aren't much difference in size so I used them on all three children. I tried size 5 nappies.

What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the design and that they didn't smell strongly of chemicals when I opened the packet, I thought they seemed thin at first.

Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely yes.

Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes I will be, because of the price (very good value) and our 2 year old put them to the ultimate test as he had an upset tummy and they still didn't leak. I will be buying them from now onwards.

I recently had another baby and I decide to try Lidl newborn nappies as I use the pull ups on my bigger child. I was very surprised in particular range also that for the price I get the dryness and a general good product. I am still using the pull up nappies on my son at night as he is not quite dry and it is highly effective at keeping him dry at night and still feeling like a big boy as the design is age appropriate. To be honest Lidl's prices and quality are usually above competitive and consistent. I was given a free nappy from a well known brand in a pack but I found Lidl to be dryer. Very impressed

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

He's 2 in early sept and I tested the size 6

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Quality wise I was pretty impressed with them. He seemed to find them comfortable and they had a good absorbency. I did notice that they seemed to go a bit lumpy when v wet ( ie overnight) and they didn't feel as nice material as the Aldi mamia nappies that I usually use

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I think so, especially if they were looking to save some money

  4. Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes as I do shop in lidl semi regularly and it's nice to be able to get everything in one shop. They are good value for money and I will soon have 2 sets of nappies to buy so cost will be even more important. They seemed to do a good job and also they were quite large with a bit of growing room for my very big nearly 2 year old who will need nappies for a while yet as we are not yet potty training. They seem larger than Aldi equivalent size nappies so that will be handy if he's in them for another 6 months +

Our son is 17 months old and we tried the size 5 nappies.

Unfortunately we felt the nappies would leak very easily and didn't dare try them at night. After only a couple of hours with only a light wee in them, we felt the padding had all clumped together and if another wee was had, it would possible leak through.
We were disappointed as I would have loved to have been able to reduce my nappy spending!

I think for a younger baby they would be absolutely fine, but at this age when they are so mobile, clamouring on everything, I wouldn't want to risk it.

The nappies themselves felt good quality, and the designs were not unlike pampers.

I would recommend them to parents with much younger children:

Sadly I think for now I will be sticking with pampers active fit for our son.

Thank you for the opportunity to try them though!

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
18 month - size 6 (he's a big lad!!!)

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Thin, nice design, fitted him well and didn't sag as much as our normal brand. No leaks was the best thing - as he often leaks overnight.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Definitely. Recently tried Pampers and was disappointed by them - not sure why people make a fuss to buy something so expensive when a brand like this works so well.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, they are not my normal brand (we are on Aldi nappies which I like) but I think they are slightly better and would make a trip to stock up on them.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

We tested the size 3 nappies on my very petite 9 month old former-premature baby.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked them. We've tried the lot - pampers (IME) smell bad when wet, boots own-brand didn't impress me, sainsburys own-brand were a bit meh. We're currently using Aldi nappies, but I'd struggle to choose between them and these lidl ones. We had no problem with leaks (my boy is a big wee-er, especially overnight) - all in all, what I want from a nappy

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

    Yes definitely

  4. Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes - for the reasons above, good fit, no smell, no leaks and all for a great price

DS is 3 months, we used size 2

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was impressed. No issues with leaks and they lasted 12 hours overnight (which another much more expensive brand doesn't!). I actually prefer the all white look of these, though a wetness indicator might have been helpful.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes l would - they are excellent quality for the price.

They are nice and thin, yet very absorbent, did not experience any leaks.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, as they are great value for money and perform as well as leading brands.

14 month old DS, size 6 nappies

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

DS is very tall but chunky so I struggle to find nappies that fit well and don't leak which means that I've always ended up going back to pampers after trying cheaper brands. These nappies seem smaller than other brands but they did fit well and haven't leaked, ds is very active and the nappies are thin so gave him the flexibility he requires to move around.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

15 weeks, size 2.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I found them really small compared to other size 2 nappies. We've just had a growth spurt, but other brands still fit. We've had a number of poo accidents with these so I didn’t even bother trying them overnight. Fine for regular changes when just wet during the day, which is just as well as I need to use them up!

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, but I'd recommend a small pack to check size before buying lots.

My child is 3.
She wears a size 6/junior nappy over night.

The nappies smelled a bit chemically when I opened the packet. But the worked really well. I think we used them in France last year. We were given them. But I recognised the packet when I got these.
I was impressed with how small the nappies folded up!

I would recommend them to a friend, as long as they live near a lidl.

Yes, I would buy them again. If I was near a lidl. I won't be making a 50+ mile round trip just for nappies, as that's no saving. But if I am somewhere with a lidl, I will get a couple of packs.
