This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I have been testing size 4 Baby-Dry pants on my 6 month old daughter, Bella.
I also asked a friend to try them out on her baby too.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? - I really like how comfy they look, they fit much better round the tummy than standard pampers baby dry nappies. They are easier to put on when you have a very wriggly baby. I think they would also be great for babies who try and take their own nappies off! We haven't got to that stage, but have friends who have this problem. I couldn't get the hang of the sticky tab that you use to fold the nappy up. I asked one of my friends to also test the pants, and her thoughts were that they seemed very nice and soft around the waist band, and she was pretty impressed.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Overall they worked as well as the standard Baby-Dry nappies. We did have one incident were Bella pooped, and it came up to the waistband - where the sides are thinner than the standard nappy tabs, it leaked through and was very difficult to get the nappy off. This was a one off incident though.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Great, just as good as standard Baby-Dry nappies

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? - it would depend on price. If they were the same price as the standard baby-dry nappies, I would buy them, but if they were more expensive I would continue using the nappies instead of purchasing the pants, until Bella is a bit older.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? - I realised that it is easier changing them in and out of the pants, but I wouldn't say I am 100% convoked that they are not just for potty training. Looking at the packaging, i think most parents would automatically assume these are just for potty training stage. There is nothing to suggest they are for smaller babies too. Maybe this should be made clearer in advertising or POS.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? - Yes, I already have

DD aged 3, size 6

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

quite satisfied

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

no leaks at nighttime, but dd had a bit of a rash in the mornings and skin was damp so not sure they are absorbent enough for big bums at night time. Maybe dd just does super sees? day time no problems.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

6/10 as mentioned above,
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? £4 a pack is quite reasonable compared to other size 6 packs so possibly, although i'd be concerned about using them long term due to the rash for ddd sensitive skin
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? No, these felt more like nappies than others i've tired, and dd was a bit unimpressed because of it actually.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? for fit definitely - for dryness i'm not so sure.

Thank you!

Thanks for letting us trial these :) my little girl is 16 months and we tested size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Really satisfied, I was really pleasantly surprised how good they were.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Kept her nice and dry between changes and for 12 hours over night with no leaks.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

10 out of 10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely, we have been converted and will be buying these instead of the normal baby dry nappies we use.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes absolutely, it made changing her so much easier because it could be done standing up and the pants could just be pulled up rather than battling to fasten the nappy on a wiggling baby who was trying to escape

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes absolutely, loved how practical they were for changing, how absorbent they were and how soft the waist band was which was a really pleasant surprise. My little girl loved them too and was happy to put on her 'big girl pants'

Thanks again was a fantastic trial.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Not very satisfied for a number of reasons. It was the fact that they were pants that were the problem. Fine for a child that is toilet training but not for a baby that is not. Firstly taking them off, I could rip the sides which is handy but then when I gather it together, there are no sticky tabs to make it into a neat bundle leading to baby kicking into it and it messing up the floor when it got knocked off the change table as I juggled everything. Really not nice. Next problem was putting on the new one. My baby gets rashes a lot so I always use cream, without the nappy underneath as I put cream on, the cream went all over the change mat. Also in order to be able to quickly put the nappy on after cream I had to put the nappy on to her knees meaning her legs were held together and it was hard to get the cream on properly at all.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Perfectly. Lovely soft material and elastic around the legs but no leaking.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Excellent.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why

not?
No. For the reasons answered in the first question.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Pants are just for potty training in my opinion unfortunately.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, but only for potty training.

Not the answers you wanted but I hope that helps. I will say that the quality of the nappies was excellent. Really soft material, nice and flexible and there was absolutely no issue with dryness.

I've been trying size 4 with my 8 month old.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

They were fine, but not quite as convenient to wrap up and bin as a conventional nappy as they can't be pulled across from each side to keep poo in.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Just as good as Pampers Baby-Dry nappies, which work very well for us.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

As good as the nappies.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - I moved onto pull-ups for my older daughter well before potty training as they looked better under clothes. I might consider doing the same, but earlier with DD2 once she is walking.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. They are easy to get on and the soft waistband looked more comfortable than a normal nappy.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, definitely.

My son is 14 months and tried the size 5 nappies.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very very satisfied, I was so impressed and thought they were brilliant. As comfortable and dry as I'd expect from Pampers but very easy changes for a baby who doesn't want to stay put!

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Great performance, kept him very dry both in the day but also at night time, so impressed.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

10/10 easily.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I will definitely buy when available in the shops, as my son was really comfortable and much drier than I expected him to be wearing pull-up nappies. They make life so much easier and he loved not having to lie down for a change now that he's on his feet.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Absolutely, a really great product.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I would definitely recommend them and look forward to buying when I can. Thank you for letting me trial them!

We're on our last one at the moment! I loved these when I first opened them. They felt nice and stretchy and looked good on. Much better than the ones you need to tab on. I generally find pull up pants not as soft as nappies but these were very soft for overall quite happy with them.

they performed well, although we did have one wee leak where I think (because they are so stretchy) they gave her a half wedgie and it all went out one side.

Dryness seemed good compared to my usual nappy. As expected really as I use pampers normally. However, the first couple we tried gave her (or maybe coincidentally she had) the start of a nasty nappy rash. When we started the test, the first one we used appeared to give her the start of a rash. I switched back to my usual nappy (just one which stayed on for a few hours) before trying on the test ones again. Again the rash came back so switched back again for one nappy and then back to the test nappies and from then on there was no rash so not sure it can be attributed to the test nappies really. I didn't use any creams of anything else to clear it up.

I would buy them potentially. I like the pull up function and these felt like good pull ups. My little one opens her nappy - i think she likes the sound of the tabs tearing open. These are also great for nappy changes on the run so to speak - toddler on the run rather than out and about!

Definitely never thought pull ups were for potty training! I have had to use them for my kids as they run about while getting nappy changed! However I do think that a lot of pull ups are made for potty training and it's nice to see ones that aren't specifically for that as I can be assured that the absorbency is the same as a nappy and they aren't made to feel wet when the child has weed in them like some pull up training pants.

i would recommend them - I think they are one of the best pull up nappies I've tried. I can't say if they are the best nap I've ever tried but if I was recommending pull ups specifically, then yes, I would recommend these.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

They were good - no leaking, and I could get DS1 to put them on himself.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

We only needed them for night, and they coped with a 5 year old who refuses to get up and wee perfectly well.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Not had any issues with rashes or bad smells, so 10/10

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

That pack size too expensive - I've just set up a subscription for easy-ups which cost 5-8p less per nappy

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, they did - mainly because when a child is older it seems silly to have them turn turtle and me to put their nappy on for them when they're perfectly capable of dressing themselves otherwise.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, I'd say they were totally up to the job.

Hello :)

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? I really liked the pants, I thought they were super soft which is great for my DS
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? I wanted to test them for the full 12 hrs during the day and night, he lasted to about 10hrs in the day and then it leaked through all his clothes, i change them more regularly now, it lasted all night with no leaks
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? 8 out if 10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? depending in the price, I would get them when my lo is older, I do think they absorb well but the faff of having to take everything off on changing is annoying
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? my lo is a little young for potty training, so the pants were more for easyness, and putting them on in the morning made getting him dress quicker. I personally think that potty training should be done with pants/knickers (children need to feel wet maybe you could make a product that contains the wee/poo better but then child is able to feel it) and these to me are just a nappy without tabs.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? for dryness and fit yes for potty training no

Very!

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Excellent, both throughout the day and at night. They contained my 3 years old epic wees without leaks.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

No issues with wet or sore bums after using the nappies.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, we currently use pampers easy up pants but i much prefer the waistband on these. It is a lot easier to pull up and down without ripping or tearing the waistband.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes definitely. i find it much easier to put pants on an active child than trying to get them to lie down and stay still.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Absolutely!

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, they were very handy and my 23 month old really liked them as they are like proper pants, he was very pleased.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Very well, we had no leaks during the day and at night they were worn for at least 11 hours and we didn't have a single leak.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
The dryness is very good, 9/10

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I will when we are moving towards potty training - they are brilliant but very expensive

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes because they are like pull ups but they have the absorbency of a nappy. You could use them during potty training or not quite happily.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would, definitely. I'm not normally impressed by Pampers but I really like these pants.

I had tested this product for my 18 month old son using size 4 nappies.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
We were really satisfied with the level of ease and dryness with the pants- the only part we thought was a bit superfluous was the tape at the back which didn't use often.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Fine- no leaks or issues.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future?

If so, why? If not, why not? Depending on how they were priced when bought in bulk, yet.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, mainly because we change our child standing up so this was an easy option as compared to more traditional nappies!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes- although I would test a size up moving forward (or recommend a 4+ size be made) because after extended wear my child had the marks from the tummy-band on his stomach which I wasn't expecting but in terms of dryness it was fab.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Very well - they arrived just as myself and my daughter were coming down with flu, we had nearly run out of nappies and these coming with the post were a godsend
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? As well as Pampers Baby Dry do, so ideal for us.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? The same as the nappies.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Possibly. We tend to use disposable nappies overnight and for days out only, and stick to ecobranded nappies when we do. We EC, so a disposable nappy that can be taken on and off is ideal, easy to reuse after a catch, but easy to dispose of after a miss.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? I liked them for the ease of use, particularly as my daughter doesn't like lying on her back to be changed.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

As I would expect from the market leader, very thorough!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Very good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future?

Possibly, they use them at Nursery If so, why? If not, why not? I probably wouldn't use them at home as I'd be concerned she wouldn't get the feeling of wet leading to delay in being nappy-free. Also, they were more difficult to change than a dirty nappy
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think they are useful when babies are getting more active and won't stay still for nappy changes, easier than wrestling into a nappy when they're wriggling away from you!
