Anyone else's just about giving up the ghost?

We had a lovely day up in London with Britain's ironing record holder and got a lovely free Phillips Steam Generator Iron (although it stuck in my throat not getting the retractable cord Wink).

Are you guys ones still going strong?

Hi! Haven't been on MN for some time - saw this just by chance.. Yes, that was a fun day out, and I still have my Davina photo on facebook! The iron is still functioning, though it only comes out once a week on Sunday nights, for DH to iron his shirts, so it hasn't had heavy use. The only problem, and we had this right from the start, is that it sometimes spurts brown stuff - usually all over a white shirt. Sounds of hard swearing from the kitchen when this happens. It did it all over his brother's shirt on the morning of our wedding (finally did the deed in April) - luckily BIL had brought a spare, but he wasn't best pleased.

I had to send mine back earlier this year for replacement of a part. Can't remember what. Cost about £35, and the iron now works even better than when it was new! If I'd realised that it was not working perfectly, I could have had that part replaced for free under the warranty. Doh.

Yes it was a fun day - do you remember the sweet girl in the killer heels who played with our dc?

Mine is still going strong.

I hadn't used it for a little while then went to steam-zap a crumpled interview suit. Here's a tip... don't zap the steam right onto something straight away if you live in a hard water area and haven't used the machine for a while. You get lovely white speckles all over your clothes and it takes many wipes before they go!
