Dettol has asked us to find 100 Mumsnetters to give their No-Touch Hand Wash System a try. Here's what Dettol say about it: "The Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System is a great way to ensure kids adopt a healthy routine when it comes to washing their hands, whilst also making it fun to do. As hands come into contact with millions of germs every day, the automatic system can help break the chain of infection, stopping the spread of bacteria around the home. After sensing your hands, the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System dispenses just the right amount of soap, killing 99.9% of bacteria."

Dettol want to get feedback on what you and your child(ren) think of the system so this is open to all UK Mumsnetters with at least one child who is old enough to be able to let you know what they think of the product! Smile

If you are selected to take part, you'll be sent a Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System dispensing base (250ml), one refill (250ml) and 4 AA batteries (RRP £9.99). You'll then need to use the system for a week or so and then add your (and your child(ren)'s) feedback to the thread.

Everyone who is part of the test and who adds feedback to the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky winner will get a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

If you would like to take part in this project please add your details here.

Many thanks
MNHQ

Its a silly idea really as whatever germs you may get from the top of the dispenser will surely be washed off when you use the product?

This was the wisdom of my then 7 yr old!

The problem is the tap really.

You turn the tap on with your germy hands.
You get your hands wet, and wave them under the Dettol gadget to get some soap.
You wash your hands, rinse under the tap.
Then you turn the tap off, which involves touching the germs you just deposited on it.

So the Dettol gadget is pointless.

And as amberleaf said, it does rather give you the impression that Dettol soap doesn't work if it can't deal with the germs from the top of the dispenser.

Perhaps we should buy a different brand of soap?

Oooh I don't care about the germ aspect, I'm a gadget junkie Wink

That and I'm sick of finding a filthy dirty soap pump every time I go to use it Angry

I see your point but we love dettol in our house so would still love to try it. Might encourage kids to wash their hands as you could tell them it's magic soap?!!

I just did it and it didn't go back to the home page for me either Confused

We have taps which are designed to be turned on using your forearm, not your fingers. [smartarse]

I'm interested, not because of the germ-free thing but my two ds's (3 and 4) are both potty trained and struggle with most other soap dispensers and end up squirting the stuff everywhere. I'd like to see if this would be simpler?

Done maybe this will convine my dcs that washing their hands instead of making out they have is a good idea.

Done (hopefully!)
I'm hoping this would be less messy and DD's would use less than normal soap pumps!

That should have read
"soon to attempt potty training of DS "
and not that I was about to attempt potty training

We have one and now have to hide it from the children as they just play with it and waste it. Back to good old pump dispenser in their reach and reserve the no hands dettol one for the kitchen windowsill that they can't get to. Personally I don't think it is worth the hype.
