We’re pleased to announce a Mumsnet Zoomchat with founder of Millpond Children’s Sleep Clinic, Mandy Gurney.

Founder of NHS-approved sleep advice service Millpond Children’s Sleep Clinic, Mandy Gurney (a registered nurse, midwife and health visitor) has been advising on children’s sleep issues for almost 30 years. Millpond is one of the UK’s leading authorities on children’s sleep, guiding and supporting the parents of babies through to teens to help their children sleep better.

Mandy will be chatting with Mumsnet HQ on helping your child to sleep well and answering your questions on Tuesday 18 May from 8pm to 9pm. You can book your place now by registering here.

Please note 1 If you join the Zoom chat, your camera will be turned off by default. Your screen name will be visible, so consider whether you’re happy to use your real life name or want to use your MN posting name, or something else entirely.

Please note 2 We can only take questions from Zoomchat attendees on the night - please don’t use this thread to ask questions in advance as we can’t promise we’ll be able to put them forwards.

What ages of DC?

GraceMD24 Sun 16-May-21 22:03:07

Would this cover an eleven year old who struggles to sleep or is it just for younger children?

@GraceMD24 @Dozer Mandy is happy to take queries for children aged up to late teens. However she does say that with older children and teens, the child/young person has to be on board with the whole effort - it's not a change the parents can make entirely on their own (but then if you have kids this age you probably already knew that!)

@PictureWest Mandy is happy to tackle sleep issues with children who have autism or other specific needs - she just wanted to flag that in these cases she might need to ask questioners for a few more details about their child and the situation to identify the best course of action.

I never post reviews but...16 years ago Mandy helped me get DD to sleep through the night. I was completely broken and in three days she was sleeping for 12 hours, having woken at two hourly intervals for the whole 11 months of her life. The woman is a magician, I swear. And DD can now sleep for 14+ hours without stirring. So I can unreservedly recommend her advice to anyone who feels there is no end in sight.
