We’re pleased to offer some good news on this grey and sombre November day; We’re offering you the opportunity to put your questions to Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne OBE and David Yates, Director of the hotly anticipated new film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as well as four films in the Harry Potter Film series (5,6,7 and 8).

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the new drama fantasy adventure action film written by J.K Rowling. It is the first instalment of a series of five films and is on general release throughout the UK on 18 November. Eddie plays magizoologist Newt Scamander who visits New York seventy years before his book is given to Harry Potter as a set text to read at Hogwarts.

Here's a taster clip of

Please post up your questions for Eddie and for David before 10pm on Sunday (13) evening and we’ll put a selection to them next week during a filmed interview. The interview will go live on our YouTube channel the following week.

Eddie- did you choose your wand for the film? (And did you keep it?...)

Eddie- what would you have done differently if you had portrayed Kylo Ren?

David - I really loved State of Play, may I ask how daunting it was to be brought in to direct HP as it was such a huge franchise, with so many diehard fans, who are known for being vocal when disappointed or unhappy!

Hi Eddie, I think I read that you auditioned for the role of the young Tom Riddle? If you could choose any HP character from the film series, who would you have liked to have had a shot at portraying?

Really excited for the film, by the way!

I am really looking forward to the film but don't want to encounter any spoilers. So my question is 'what was the most fun scene to film' but I will avoid seeing your answer until after 18 November!

Eddie... will you marry me? Erm... GrinBlush

No seriously. Harry Potter is such a massive franchise. Did you feel at all overwhelmed being part of it?

Oh Eddie

Are you a Harry Potter fan, and do you prefer the books or the movies?

Where does your legendary, big trademark smile come from? Is it something you naturally do or is for films! It's such a unique & lovely smile

Eddie- I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan, but not sure how I feel about a film made from such an obscure text in the original books. How closely does it link in with the magical world we already know?

Sorry, I realise that sounds like an incredibly swotty question. Channelling my inner Hermione!

David- How much of your experiences directing the final four Potter films did you use in directing Fantastic Beasts? Do you think you would have done anything differently if you weren't already familiar with the 'world?'

After Les Miserable do you want to do any more singing rolls.

David
If you could would you remake Goblet of Fire as 2 parts.

David - after having to make such significant cuts from the source material when translating the books to film, how different was the experience of working with an original screenplay by JK?

If you were to play one character from the Harry Potter films, who would you want to play?

Eddie: If you could go back in time and play a part in the original adaptations of the first few books who would you play?

How do you feel about the Arts no longer being an affordable option for people from poorer backgrounds? Do you think people such as yourself have a responsibility to put money back into the industry to fund places for those less fortunate? Do you have any ideas about how you can do this?

Eddie is it true you used to wait on the Hollyoaks cast?

Report
DramaInPyjamas · 11/11/2016 20:02

David - I've read that you have still to cast the actor to play the role of young Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming movie.

Do you have anyone in mind that you think would be perfect..?
I have loads of suggestions!
(I often recast the books and films in my head when I'm bored Grin)

Hi Eddie, We think you are a fantastic actor and are huge Potter fans. Can't wait to see fantastic beasts! My son loves acting. He attends Salisbury playhouses stage '65 and is also a member of West End Kids. What advise would you give him in terms of persuing an acting career (he's aged 11)?

Was it odd directing a Harry Potter film without the well known Harry Potter cast you were used to working with, did it still feel like a Harry Potter film or a completely seperate thing completely

Hi Eddie, my brother was one of the Executive Producers on Like Minds. Which is your favourite project before you hit "the big time"? (No pressure..)

DH wants to know which house you'd be in if you'd gone to Hogwarts.

I've come back to ask another question if you don't mind... I've always been sad that St Mungos hospital isn't in the films. I would LOVE to see it brought to life - do you think there will ever be an offshoot project/film that it is in?
