Goldie Hawn webchat: Today - Monday 5 March, 1-2pm

It's not often we get Hollywood glamour gracing Mumsnet Towers but we're rolling the red carpet out on Monday lunchtime, 5 March, when we're joined by Goldie Hawn.

Her legendary Hollywood roles include Private Benjamin, The First Wives Club and Death Becomes Her. Her performance in the 1969 film, Cactus Flower, won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Goldie is visiting the UK to promote her book, 10 Mindful Minutes, and the launch of The Hawn Foundation in the UK.

The foundation has developed the MindUP programme to help children reach their full potential and aims to teach children how their minds work and how their thoughts and feelings affect their behaviour. The programme has been implemented in schools in the United States, Canada, Australia and, more recently, the UK.

Chat to Goldie live from 1-2pm on Monday 5 March, or post your question in advance here.

Thanks

Shock

What one piece of advice would she give (or has she given) her own daughter about family values?

Goldie, Hello [squeal]

How do you keep on being 'nice Goldie' when you feel not nice?

PuzzleRocks · 02/03/2012 18:00

Nope, don't believe you. I'm still feeling raw about KateGate.

Ok, I still don't believe you.

Hi Goldie.
If you had brittle asthma, and were unable to leave the house, and struggling, and what you really wanted, was Goldie Hawn to give you some sympathy, what would you say, if you were Goldie Hawn?

(That makes sense in my head)Grin

Goldie - why do you think the United Kingdom, one of the richest countries in the world, needs your foundation to tell its children how to be happy?

Report
thebestisyettocome · 02/03/2012 19:05

Wow!

I would like to ask Goldie why she thinks there are so few female screenwriters and directors compared to men and how she thinks this could improve.

Report
limitedperiodonly · 02/03/2012 19:07

Given my posts about Goldie Hawn on the Angelina Jolie's Leg thread, you probably wouldn't want me to contribute.

So I'm just going to say that OrkaLiely's question is excellent and really needs to be asked.

scottishmummy · 02/03/2012 19:08

how did you warn kate how to avoid the casting couch and predatory males in la la land?

do you think one can teach happiness like a set of skills?can it really be reduced to components that ones hopes to imbue?

why did you name the charity after yourself, as opposed to supporting established uk charities?

Well, I would give up my right to ask a question (or two) in order to support scottishmummy's questions. And Orka's.

I've seen a lot of public money in the past being pumped into 'emotional intelligence' programmes for children in schools already in the UK, usually in more disadvantaged areas, without ever seeing empirical evidence of the actual benefits. Challenge the programme, and one is cast in the role of the 'bad guy'. What the kids often need is for their mother to have a little bit more money and a little bit less criticism.

Actual real life Goldie Hawn? Shock

Okay question 1; Would you like to adopt me? I'm very nice and mostly house trained?

Question 2; having looked over your website briefly, I couldn't find any mention of whether this programme will be offered to special schools, will it?
It's lovely that your programme is aiming to, 'transform children's lives by helping them to acquire vital social and emotional skills', would this package be tailored for children with special needs?

Okay, my tongue was slightly in cheek with the 'lovely' comment. Clearly it does not come across.

Scottishmummy does not scare me a little bit.

Nope, doesn't work

I am looking forward to a discussion about the efficacy and evidence base, as it is a new one on me

Goldie - how would you define happiness? What measures will the Hawn foundation be using to assess whether pupils are happier after the Mindup lessons compared to before?
