Things that are actually pretty weird when you think about them?

I've just been thinking about this as I've been lay in the bath.

I'm currently pregnant and baby goes mad when I'm in the bath and I was watching him kicking and squirming inside me and just thought... This is actually pretty odd when you think about it. I have a living thing that's moving around inside me!

A friend had to have a blood transfusion not so long ago and she can't think about that for long without feeling squeamish that someone else's blood was inside her!

What other things do you find strange when you really think about them?

Rain - that's fucking mental. Like, the idea that a liquid just turns into a gas for no visible reason and then turns back into a liquid for no visible reason. Mental - it's basically flying water and I think aliens would be baffled.

We were talking about this today ! It’s nuts that a rubbery blob in your head (brain) can do all the things it can , I mean how ?

I also think the tongue is a weird thing to keep in your mouth .

@MudSmudge I remember my tiny mind being well and truly blown in junior school when we learned about the water cycle. Something about all the water that exists is all that exists and it just goes around and around. Amazing!

Cats and dogs.

We keep them as pets, love them, treat them like heavenly beings, pet them, assign them voices, personalities and characteristics. Tiny little beings that control our lives. We don't keep beavers and rhinos in our homes - why cats and dogs?

I always think it's weird, on the brain theme, that brains can control some things and not others. Like why can I move my arm when I want and not burn off all the calories from a croissant just by concentrating extra hard to burn them

I remember feeling the same way as you when I was expecting DS, @PutItInYourPocket. I’d just be sitting still or doing something completely normal and think “I’m currently growing someone else’s knees, eyelids, fingers etc and I’m not actively doing anything about it. I’m just washing the dishes, watching tele, brushing my teeth.” It’s incredible.

Religious identity. When our daughter was tiny, my husband looked at her and said 'She's a Jew. That's really weird.' Grin

Honey, how the bees produce it, and we eat it. Yuk.

Sleeping. It's funny when I think of all our neighbours in our close lying in their respective beds at the same time.

(Disgusting comment warning)

It’s weird that we all swallow up to a litre (or something) of snot and saliva each day down the back of our nose/ throat, yet it you were to give me a small glass of my own saliva in a glass to drink, I’d probably throw up in disgust 🤢

Beds. I understand why, but getting onto a rectangle box with a cover over you (this is obviously for warmth) and you put your special clothes (PJ’s) on to do this 😆

It’s like some weird ritual I’ve always thought.

The fact that humans are made up entirely of just chemicals and somehow they come together to make living, thinking people. How??

The fact the a whole world of information can be sent into your phone through the air!

Eating meat. It's gross when you think about it and yet I'm not a vegetarian.

On the water thing, it's weird to think that we are drinking the same water that the dinosaurs drank and peed!

Yep that's weird definitely, and how we are all star dust.

Also, thinking astronomically, how really, really fantastically small and unimportant we all are in the universe. It makes me think how pointless our existence is!

Cars - do we really get into metal boxes and hurl ourselves around at 70mph changing lanes back and forth only metres away from other boxes hurtling at 70mph?

That no one else knows the person that you think you are except for you. Each person you know only knows a small part of you and have an opinion on who they think you are based on that small part but it's never actually who you think you are.
