My kids' dad fed them badger

I'm not joking. We are separated and he sees them for the day once every few weeks. Last week he took them for the day in London and when I picked them up they told me, very casually, that Daddy had given them badger with rice for lunch. He had sent me a picture a few days earlier of a dead badger so it is totally plausible, and given that he has been homeless for the last couple of years and often 'lives off the land' I am certain he would not think twice about eating a badger. He told the kids that he steamed the meat for 4hrs but now i'm really worried about the whole TB thing. They seem fine but not sure if I should get them checked out. Any words of wisdom?

I honestly don't know, I've never heard anything like it before! Where did he even get the badger from, and do you know if he killed it or if it was already dead? I'd guess if they're feeling ok then they're probably ok, although I'd speak with a doctor/111 to check.

I am not much of a game eater, so I wouldn't know. I'd feel better about it if he hunted it and killed it himself, rather than picking it up off the road, though.

I am so seriously not joking. The kids are 7 and 9 and said they really liked it. I wouldn't be concerned except that badgers often carry TB. Their dad has set up a 'camp' with cooking facilities etc. in the woods somewhere.

Provided the badger was sourced from within the M25, ie Urban badger, they’ll be fine. I wouldn’t trust rural badger though....
