Because they are 'that good'? I realise different songs may affect people differently Smile

I have lots:

The last part of Do the right thing, Simply Red
The last part of Light my fire, Will Young
The whole of Sandstorm, Darude
The chorus of Love Love, Take That
The chorus of The Flood, Take That
The whole of Praying for time, George Michael
The whole of Sing Hallelujah, Dr Alban
The last chorus, to the end Confusion, ELO
The last bit, to fade, Rise, Gabrielle
All of Don't You, Simple Minds
All of Shine, Years and Years
All of Paradise by the dashboard light, Meatloaf
All of Home By The Sea, Genesis

Just off the top of my head Smile

I heard one the other day that made me almost cry... I think it was One Step Closer by (I think?) Christina Aguilera. Also, Rule the World by Take That.

I count your eyelashes, secretly.
With every one, I whisper I love you.
I watch you sleep.

From At My Most Beautiful REM

Have loads of others, but these lines make my heart catch.

That line in Amy McDonald's "Mr Rock and Roll" where it goes:

"I wish I knew you, I wish I'd met you when time was still on our side"

I lost my partner far too soon, and that line gets me every time I hear it!

Adele When We Were Young
I always feel so emotional at the lines "We're so sad at getting old it makes us restless, I'm so mad at getting old it makes me reckless "

How can she, so young, know these feelings?

Iris, The GooGoo Dolls "And I don't want the world to see me, cos I don't think that they'll understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am" and loads of that song

Great thread btw , bet we could all list loads.

This is a song by Jim Croce. I can’t bear to listen to it now....

Photographs and memories
Christmas cards you sent to me
All that I have are these
To remember you
Memories that come at night
Take me to another time
Back to a happier day
When I called you mine
But we sure had a good time
When we started way back when
Morning walks and bedroom talks
Oh how I loved you then
Summer skies and lullabies
Nights we couldn't say good-bye
And of all of the things that we knew
Not a dream survived
Photographs and memories
All the love you gave to me
Somehow it just can't be true
That's all I've left of you
But we sure had a good time
When we started way back when
Morning walks and bedroom talks
Oh how I loved you then

Oooh I love this!

A couple I like are:

Greenday Good riddance (time of your life) the whole song, it's just perfect (if a bit short!).

Also walking in Memphis
"Tell me are you a Christian, child? Ma'am I am tonight!"

Joni Mitchell River but sang by Allison Crowe.

This bit;
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on

Also Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. It was played at the funeral of a lad I knew who died whilst travelling.

Something Inside So Strong always makes me cry because it was played at my cousin’s funeral. She was plagued by a horrible illness and fought so hard.

I have lots!

All of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, but especially this part:

You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away?
We gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way

Sweet Disposition by the Temper Trap:

Our rights, our wrongs
A moment, a love
a dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
a dream, a laugh

So stay there
'Cause I'll be coming over
While our blood's still young
It's so young, it runs
Won't stop 'til it's over
Won't stop to surrender

All of On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons which makes me very nostalgic for a wonderful time in my life.

When We Were Young by Adele gets me too.

One that surprised me because I'd only ever heard Bette Midler do it, was Randy Newman singing I Think it's Going Rain Today. Holy crap, that's a heartbreaker. Goosebumps and a lump in my throat every time. He doesn't have the best voice in the world but the emotion in it is tangible.
