DH has been cleansing his face ... with anti-bacterial bathroom wipes.

We've always had face cleansing wipes in the bathroom cupboard that both DH and I use. DH isn't what you'd call 'metrosexual' and not at all into skin care. He commutes by Tube and uses the wipes to get off the grease and grime before a wash.

A couple of weeks ago DH started to complain that his skin was feeling dry and really sore. We put it down to cold weather and central heating and thought no more of it.

Since then, DH's face has seemed quite red at times. He's mentioned it being dry a couple of times and we've chatted and agreed that nothing's changed (washing powder, face wash, wipes etc.) so it must just be the cold snap.

Today DH has called me from work and said he's thinking of going to the Drs as his skin was burning last night and is really red today. He asked could I please go to the bathroom (I'm working at home) and tell him the name of the face wipes and wash as he can only describe them to the Dr as the 'green minty smelling face wash' and the wipes 'in the navy blue packet'- as I said, no real interest in face care.

I was a bit struck as our face wipes are in a white packet. The only blue packet we have in the cupboard is anti-bac surface wipes.

Yep, that's right he's been cleansing his face every night with anti-bacterial surface wipes for about three weeks. I would't mind but the anti-bac wipes have got a picture of a sparkling, clean white bathroom on the front. Not to mention the fucking words 'Anti-bacterial Bathroom Wipes'

Once I'd finished laughing, it transpires it's somehow my fault for not letting him know. Silly me, I thought he was a 30 year old man who was able to read.

Reminded me very much of fat balls, especially when DH commented that the 'face wipes' did actually smell quite 'toilety'.

My DH complained that the moist toilet wipes I'd left in the bathroom 'stung' when he used them. Turns out he'd been using toilet cleaning wipes. He's a doctor too....

The bloody fool Grin

Bless him. Least he now knows and it should go down nicely. Give him a soothing cream, actually give it to him not tell him to get one. You don't know what he could come back with.

Mine was cleaning the bathroom with my face wipes - I thought I was getting through them quickly.
He had the cheek to complain that they were a bit small and not good value for money.

That has cheered me up when I really needed it so thanks. Grin

Cleaning wipes are much bigger than other wipes, how could he not realise! That and the picture of the shiney bathroom, and writing stating bathroom wipes!

My dad once washed his hair with bleach. Was a new fancy bottle, he thought it was shampoo.

Silly sod!! Grin
He should probably go to the chemist and explain what he's done (go with him, film pharmacist's reaction for future amusement) and get them to sort out a cream for him..

My DH was sent into a service station to get baby wipes as we'd run out. He came back with dettol surface wipes... I wasn't quite sure how to react. I do wonder what planet men come from sometimes.

My elderly Nan is in hospital at the moment. She is absolutely obsessed with being clean and not smelling 'piddly' so has been struggling with not being able to shower. She has been having to wash with wipes, as she is bedbound. Unfortunately she had been using the anti bacterial surface wipes they leave in the cupboard to clean the beds and sides. She has been using them everywhere, even her lady bits!! Thank goodness my mum realised, she would have been so so sore! She did say she felt very clean though!

DS had a really sore bum a few years ago. Turns out he was using Domestos wipes. He was only 10 though! So probably my fault really. Blush. Poor thing was very sore.

Grin Lord knows what else he's been using.

Once I left a bottle on Fenjal bath oil out on the side (usually cleared away) and he washed his hair with it. He came downstairs complaining that my really expensive shampoo was crap. Apparently that was my fault too for not clearing it away. I was pissed off on so many levels!

He's just text me asking if I can get him some cream for his big red face.
He wants me to go the pharmacy and tell the pharmacist that I've been cleansing with anti-bac wipes to save him the shame. Apparently it's more acceptable for women to use face wipes. Yes, okay, but given that women would probably know the bloody difference between face wipes and anti-bac surface cleaners wouldn't they?!

My Dad complained to my mum some years ago that the ear drops he had been using for his ear wax were really irritating his ears.

Turns out he'd been putting Compound W wart remover down there Hmm

My mum really had to work hard at not PHSL
