to think this is a perfectly good sized lunch?

For my 15 and 16 year old sons?
(If not a very healthy one but that's not my question Grin)

Ham and cheese salad sandwich, a frube and a wafer bar.

I am doing the next 2 weeks packed lunches for the freezer and this is being hotly contested in my house right now Grin

to think this is a perfectly good sized lunch?

That would not be enough for my 14yo DS. He eats loads and would be hungry if that was his only food during the day.

Most teens would easily eat two of those sandwiches

Oh gosh no! YABU.

My ten year old has more and she's a skinny mini.

Also...WHY are you freezing sandwiches! Blech!

I agree with the others two sandwiches and add at least an apple or banana in there too.

I'd replace the wafer bar with a Soreen lunch bar too or flapjack.

My 2yo has more than that Grin

Actually, I think it's a bit small for teenage boys! I give my super-skinny 7 yo DS more than that (although the sandwich would be smaller for him). I would add a piece of fruit & some nuts, and also I'd change the wafer bar for something a bit more filling like a flapjack or a muesli bar - wafers are all air.

YABU! all my kids eat bigger lunches than that and they are all under 10!

My 9 yo has more than that in her packed lunch.

you could also… add a muller rice or yogurt for calcium and the rice fills them up.

they used to do mini ones of those (Asda?) but maybe not now - the muller rice.

Depends on appetite, my pre teen would have that plus some fruit and some crackers (bean pole with hollow legs).

Does the sandwich freezing work okay? Do they still taste fresh-ish?

I agree with everyone else. My four year old has bigger packed lunches than that.

Because i cannot be arsed to do sandwiches every morning. Grin they survive well and I get no complaints about that.

However, judging by your horrified replies I am as unreasonable as they say I am.

I suppose I'd best add another sandwich. Bugger. Grin

My 3 ds's are 20 , 17 and 15.

To me , that is adequate for a lunch with a drink, no need for anymore.

How can you freeze a salad sandwich? Doesn't the salad go all manky?

No problem with the concept of frozen sandwiches, but there are only a few things that freeze well in sandwich form, surely!

Yes, my teenage sons would all have easily eaten two of that size sandwich. And as well as the other things would have eaten something else besides - cake, chrisps and fruit. Actually my very tiny 7 year old foster child has more than that in her lunchbox. Sorry.

No way.
My Ds is 11 and eats more than that!

My ds eats two sandwiches - he is 7 and very skinny. He also has a piece of fruit / some crudites and a yogurt. If he didn't have a second sandwich, he would have some crisps and a cereal bar. I don't think this is anywhere near enough for active teenage boys.

Yes, freezing sandwiches is disgusting!!

Bair · 06/06/2015 18:03

You could just tell them to supplement it themselves. You've gone to quite some effort there, tell them they are free to add some cheese and crackers or fruit on the day? If at 15/16 you're not happy with what' made for you you should make it yourself. (Careful though, I wanted different from what Mum made, so made my own packed lunch from 14. Brother has never whined and my Mum still does his bait up and he's late twenties.)

I am going to try the sandwich freezing.

Mine would eat twice that (beanpole).
