I used to think that I was a good writer. But, since joining MN, I have to face the sad realisation that this is untrue. If I comment on a thread, it dies, and if I start a thread, no one answers! I give up. I know I am a good reader, I will stick to that from now on....

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 19-May-13 18:06:54

Well, I am replying on this one!

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:07:30

Seeing the BIG typo in my title, I now KNOW I am not a good writer!

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:08:03

IN fact, I think I will give up reading as well...

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Sun 19-May-13 18:08:53

Oh yes. It happens to us all. I have killed many a thread and had tumbleweed moments as my clearly deathly dull thread disappears without trace with my lone little voice on it.

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:09:07

Thanks, Hazel....

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 19-May-13 18:09:28

Yeah, I thought I'd skip over that as your post sounded a little sad... grin

I seem to go through stages where I kill every thread that I post on. It's just sod's law though, isn't it - most people stay in Active Convos (well, I mostly do anyway), so if you fall off that... you're done for!

Noorny Sun 19-May-13 18:09:42

I think you need to become less emotionally sensitive.

musickeepsmesane Sun 19-May-13 18:10:27

I'm here too. I am very good at killing threads [shame] Also today, due to another thread, I have only just found out what the unanswered messages thingy up there means!!

Noorny Sun 19-May-13 18:10:33

Instead of starting a topic here, start a Topic chocolate bar. That may cheer you up.

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 19-May-13 18:10:39

Also, it always happens when I have made - what I feel is - a HILARIOUS joke or observation. Then, nothing, apart from the suggestion of tumbleweed...

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:11:00

or give up reading

AgentZigzag Sun 19-May-13 18:11:36

It can feel a bit meh when not many reply, especially if it's something really important to you.

The key is to post more not less, you shouldn't take not having many replies personally and it doesn't mean you're insignificant.

You seem an OK writer to me, what's a few typos between freinds? smile

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 19-May-13 18:12:00

Never give up, Zen!
Keep on plodding along, like me. And the Little Donkey.

AmazingBouncingFerret Sun 19-May-13 18:12:57

I'm great at killing threads. I also refuse to start them because they inevitably go down like a lead balloon.

AgentZigzag Sun 19-May-13 18:14:23

Start a thread about cake?

MNers can't resist a bit o' cake porn.

DeafLeopard Sun 19-May-13 18:15:27

I'm another thread killer too.

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:16:25

The " MN secret rules" topic really made me ponder. Sometimes I am laughing away as I type, then no one picks up on what I wrote, obv, not funny to anyone but me!

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:18:20

Could you look at the thread I started earlier and give feedback on it? Maybe the title was too yucky...

Jestrin Sun 19-May-13 18:18:50

I know for sure that I'm not eloquent and can't translate what I want to say into a written form. I can't even draw! grin

AgentZigzag Sun 19-May-13 18:21:01

Can you link to your thread Zen?

Or say what the title is?

FarBetterNow Sun 19-May-13 18:21:39

I wouldn't dare start one.

The snobbery about spelling and punctuation is incredible.
Those who can spell are infinitely superior (they think).

ZenOfPetals Sun 19-May-13 18:24:12

Strategic, KIm.

Agent- the title was 'Snot so confident

Yes, Far, I find it intimidating, but have still tried...

Bowlersarm Sun 19-May-13 18:24:44

Not brave enough to start a thread yet.

Comment fairly regularly now. The thing I find annoying is when I carefully word a post and make what I think is a great point. Then other posters sometimes quote me but not by name just as 'as someone unthread said..' I want to shout THAT WAS ME.

This thread is not accepting new messages.
