Hello all.

We hope you all know about the Mumsnet Academy and the (modesty be damned) really rather good courses it offers.

In the past few months, we've put on courses on everything from Creative Writing and Freelance Journalism to Ancient Greece and Starting a Business. Our tutors have included, among others, Mary Beard, Kate Mosse, John Briffa, Steve Biddulph, Alain de Botton, Lynne Franks and Bettany Hughes.

And we certainly know, from our inbox, how much those who have been on our courses have appreciated and enjoyed them.

Now PatrickMumsnet, who organises all our Academy courses, is starting work on setting up a new batch of courses, and he's keen to get some inspiration from you folks - as you're the ones we'd hope would sign up in your droves!

So, if you have any ideas/suggestions for courses you'd love to go on, please do post them here.

You know that list we made after the Rome course? All of that, hope you've still got it. smile

Hope there's a repeat of the Ancient Greece one. Can't afford 2 courses in the space of a month sadly, but I am beyond excited about the one I've got coming up smile

Would love to see a range of history courses - a history of medieval Europe would be top of my list. Not sure how much demand there'd be for that though grin

More history please! And archaeology would be great too. If you can get the marvellous Emily Pillinger to curate I'd be a very happy bunny

Hi Pantah630, yes I have the list still and hope to shape some of the ideas that came out of that weekend into courses over the next 12 months. I'll definitely keep you posted!

I hope you are well.

Maybe some courses in the North? Leeds or York ... Or online, even better.

I can't afford these courses sad but might save up if there were some animal first aid / behavior / care ones. Although I imagine they would be difficult as you would need animals to er...practice on.

Any of what you've done already but in the North West. Lancaster, Carlisle, Kendal - any of those will do!

Online stuff that can be accessed from anywhere in the country preferably.

Hi Hula,

We are looking to do more photography courses. What type of thing are you after? We have a course on Photographing Babies that might be an option?

Definitely online courses! What subjects would you like to see? We have a new online course coming up on Business and Enterprise. Is that something you'd be interested in?

Hi bunchamunchycrunchycarrots, we are developing some online courses at the moment - what type of subject matter are you interested in?

Moominsarehippos Mon 28-Jan-13 15:41:59

Cookery with Michel Roux Jnr. Oh yes.

notforthefainthearted Mon 28-Jan-13 18:51:10

Patrick, maybe some online courses around working novels? And anything to do with writing in general.

Will come back with more ideas.

I think an online language course would benefit many, especially those unable to travel.

An online Business / Enterprise course would be brilliant - but the content would have to be really special as there are so many free Business / Enterprise courses available from Enterprise charities, Business Links etc

Anything to do with writing but in Edinburgh - happy to host in my living room - Pom Bear crisps for all included in a reasonable rate.

What about a course looking at what career might suit you

grumpyoldbookworm Mon 28-Jan-13 20:25:24

Another vote for medieval history, also the list that Pantah630 mentioned. Ancient Greece was fab and so was Ancient Rome. Thanks!

PatrickMumsnet - Older children/people/animals, etc plus holidays. Babies are too little for me. I take photos mainly of children - I work in an infant school - plus my own DD at home and on holidays, days out at zoos, etc.

Hulababy Mon 28-Jan-13 20:44:59

And also - things further North. I'm in South Yorkshire so London isn't a realistic option for day to day. Also - consider put to school hours/term time

notforthefainthearted Mon 28-Jan-13 21:21:36

Ooh, career help is a very good idea.

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots Mon 28-Jan-13 21:54:37

Patrick, I'm interested in feminism and history, with maybe a splash of politics too. I'm mainly interested in feminism, not having much insight but with strong feelings in that area, if that makes sense, so keen to learn more. There was a course a while ago I remember thinking I'd have loved to have done, which was along the lines of parenting/feminism or raising girls as a feminist parent? I might have that wrong but it was something along those lines. I'm very keen to learn more how to raise my daughter in a way that helps her overcome the obvious barriers 'out there' so any help/enlightenment in those areas I'd be very interested in. Hmm, I'm not very good at expressing exactly what it is I'm looking for - I'd probably know if I saw it!
