hi all.
would like to know peoples storys on their twins development.
mine are cwraling at the moment and starting to pull themselfs up on there knee.
one of them has a few words to say when the other doesn't.
at 5 months they had pretty bad reflux and was on medication. that meant no tummy time.
just a little worried

Were they prem? My triplets are 16mths and all walking but had lots of tummy time as it was the most comfortable position for their reflux when not upright. No words here though, just lots of purposeful sounds so they are trying.
They were 32.5wks so would be expected to lag behind by approx 1-2mths.

Mine were full term and only just started walking at 17 mths. They'll do it in their own time. Leave it til their over 18 mths and if you're still worried, you could always get them checked out.

Hello my twins are nearly 19 months now and were born at 37 weeks. One twin (DS2) walked at 12 months but the other (DD) didn't walk until nearly 16 months.

Neither can say much that is recognisable to anyone but me! DD talks a bit more / better than DS2 though.

My twins are 23 months and at 17 months they still had not great speech, only words i knew, but i would say about a month ago they both dramitically improved and are now stringing 2 and 3 words togther.
Dd walked at 12 months and ds at about 15 months, just give them time, you soon wont be able to shut them up !!

Just moved from NYC. Had many friends who had twins. They are everywhere.
Most of these twins were receiving some sort of support whether it be occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or around 18-months or so, speech therapy. From what I saw or heard from these mums, the therapy wasn't invasive, the kids just thought they were playing. Parents were happy with the progress and for their child to 'catch up'. I realize this is quite different than what I'm reading on the boards. I'm now looking for some like-minded health professionals here in the UK. Hmm......

Mine walked at 13 and 14 mths and need nailing down as they are fearless. Still mute (but we know that brrr means bird etc) at 19 mths. It will happen, don't worry.

I have nearly 19 month old twins, my DD walked first at about 13 months my DS waited until 16 months!!

My DD says a few words but my DS says none, Im a bit concerned but my HV is very blase about it all but I have friends with single babies the exact same age who can say 1 or 2 words who are being referred to speech therapists, I dont understand!?!?!

hey folks.
well around 3 weeks ago now we called in a HV as the girls still wasn't showing signs of standing or walking.
the HV is going to refer them.
anyway the very next day we brought the girls some new shoes, and with these shoe on they started to pull them selfs up on the sofa. Georgie even took a few steps holding on of course, amazing.
over the past 2 weeks they've come on so good. their fav game at the mo is climbing the stairs.
18 months and a couple of wks, minus the month prem

My DD1 didn't walk until she was 17 months. My twins are 16 months old and still not walking. Although they both stand up and one of them walks around holding onto the furniture and stuff. My husband gets quite frustrated that they're not walking yet but I reckon they'll do it in their own time.

My friend took her little boy to a physiotherapist who advised her to keep him in shoes. I don't think he walked till he was about 20 months.

Jimandzoe, to assume that all twins NEED some sort of "support whether it be occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or around 18-months or so, speech therapy."is utterly ludicrous.
Our twins walked one at barely 11 months and the other at 12 months. Very vocal and stringing words together at 21 months.

JimandZoe, not all twins need extra help and support - my twins are just like any other normal kids and didn't even need special care when they were born

Our twins are 2.5 now and dd speech is well beyond her years, ds is about right for his age. Ds walked at 10 mths and dd at 14 mths. They have reached many of their milestones before their older and younger brothers.

Not all twins are delayed or need extra help or support
