Hi all, as a would be mother of id twins I would love to hear your stories of being pregnant/delivering/raising twins/multiples.

One of the fond moments was when I was on the Tube reading a twin book and heard 3 different people start talking about twins in general.

Or when I was at the hospital and MW assumed I had one baby. 'Lets check the baby's heartbeat'. I caught myself thinking 'No one has one baby at a time!'...LOL

At school my DTs had to draw a picture of something special and DT1 drew his brother 'He's my special brother' (the TA ran out of school to tell me that it was so sweet it made her day).

They don't really do sticking up for each other sadly.

I think its incredible to see the way twins work together and learn from each other (mine are 20 months and are usually being destructive, but its still amazing). The relationship they have is indescribable.

Other good stuff about mine:

  1. When out walking with babies in pram everyone stops you to tell you how gorgeous they are and how fantastic you are. I never get tired of hearing that.

  1. When they are older they amuse and fight each other endlessly.

  1. We only wanted to have 2 children so I never ever have to be pregnant ever again

LOL at the baby's heartbeat - I had so many scans I used to attach myself to the monitor and once showed the student how to do it.

What Leoloopydoo said. Usually they work together to get up to mischief (14 months) but the other day one was upset and the other went over and cuddled him - VERY cute!

And when they are tiny and in the cot together all snuggled up - ahhhhhhh!

my DTs have just turned three and today I was just chatting with my friend who also has DTs and we were saying how lucky we were - what a great way to have three children (we both have older girls). Mine are so sweet together and I really benefit from it at home as the can play with or along side eachother for ages compaired to a singleton. I rarely get bugged to play with them when I don't want to .

And when they are tiny and sharing a cot, it melts your heart.

Good luck to you, we've had very happy days with our children and I wouldn't have it any other way now.

Aw my id twins are hysterical

They were 10 last Friday. I went in to their room once as it was suspiciously quiet. They had hidden themselves away in the wardrobe entirely dressed and ready for school without me hearing a sound. They jumped out and made me jump A MILE it was sooooooo funny.

They are in to swapping clothes\glasses etc at the moment and fooling their teachers

The first time i put them in a cot together i nearly died of pride and happiness >

A girl in our antenatal group had twins. She said when she was breastfeeding them in the first few days she looked down and they were holding hands - too cute

Just saw this though I don't have twins myself, my friend does - I went to see them at home when they were 5 days old. We stood in the hallway with a tiny baby each and just stared at them

At DD's christening recently, the same friend was talking to my aunt, also a mum of twins, she smugly said "oh, mine were 5 1/2 lb each" to which my aunt replied "oh, that's nothing, mine were 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 lb" the look on my friends face was priceless

Good luck with your babies.

bambi06 MCDA stands for monochorionic diamniotic twins. they have single placenta, 2 sacs and identical genetic material. they are the most common type of all identical twins.

One of my twins copied his brother's homework then got the rubber and rubbed out the others work!
Always remembered how special and clever it felt to be pregnant with twins, even though very uncomfortable...
Hope you are getting all the rest you need?

The tough times come in phases. I've had times when all the attention drives me nuts, the fighting is distressing, I'be been totally exhausted that I don't know how I will get through the rest of the day and I've asked myself many times - why me? It would have been so much easier just to have 2!

But I'm extremely proud (both of them and of myself), the attention can make me glow, they don't always fight and its fascinating to see them play together so intensely at such a young age, I love my boys so much and wouldn't change a thing .

Inabadmood, I hope today is a better day. I'm wondering who you are....!

For quite some time after the dts were born and I would see other people pushing a single pushchair, or with one baby in their arms I would look and have this strange feeling/question - why only one? where is the other one?

Leoloopydoo where is the other one? that is so funny! I have similar feelings too sometimes...

Had my 29 week scan today. All normal. But due to id twins, doc recommends elective c-sec at 35-36 weeks...Lets see what happens. I am only interested in healthy kids at this point.

Anjlix, great to hear that all is going well. My twins are mcda, they were born 36/6 and were only just big enough to stay out of special care which to me was a really important target (planned vbac, started spontaneously but had a cs because one had turned breech since the last scan). If there are no problems keep them inside you for as long as possible, 35-36 weeks seems very early. Do you post on the D'ya... thread?

anjlix Now I'm not sure if this story will make you laugh or scare the living daylights out of you. This happen 2.5 yrs ago when my wee weapons of mass destruction were 2. Leo asked me to post it (wicked woman).

Once upon a bedtime two angelic creatures clasped their milk and said night night.

Their gorgeous mother kissed them and closed the door and went downstairs where she proceeded to clean the kitchen and use MN.

The aforementioned gorgeous mother sent her DD1 to bed. She had stayed up late with permission and because gorgeous mother was on MN and couldn't be arsed to send her before.

A great cry came from upstairs. DD1 was sobbing uncontrollably. The angelic creatures had become candidates for adoption and/or military school. They had broken into the toilet and taken a bottle of toilet duck. They somehow managed to open said bottle and pour the contents all over DD1's bed and carpet. It was clear to gorgeous mother that they had been rolling in it. Their bodies were a pale shade of green. She sniffed their mouths and was reasonably convinced that they hadn't drunk any.

Gorgeous mother was last seen distributing leaflets along the road which said..........

"Darling Twins need new home. Gorgeous boy with chocolate drop eyes and gorgeous girl with same. Beautiful long curls. Love most foods and toilet duck. Please collect immediately!"
