Hi there, I'm new to postin on here but have been looking through mumsnet since last yr when I was pregnant wit DS1 I found it really good. DS is now 6mths and have just found out that I am havin twins That will make me a mother of 5 DD1 is 12 DD2 is 8, the twins are due 12th feb. I really don't know wot to expect of this pregnancy and how I will cope with a 1yr old and twins. Any advice will be much appreciated lol

welcome ! I have only 3 - but my twins are 18 months younger than DS1 - so I can relate a little bit.

There are quite a lot of twin mums on here - so when you stop realing with the shock come here and start asking lots of questions.

One question from me to start with - id or not ? It makes a difference to the pregnancy.

throckenholt Wed 01-Aug-07 10:33:33

ps - hop over to the feb antenatal thread - there is at least one twin expectee there too.

welcome Kat and congratulations! I only have my DTDs, that's as much as I can cope with, so good luck to you - at least you will have a couple of willing older sisters to help out?

Meeely2 Wed 01-Aug-07 10:36:15

hi the Kat - CONGRATULATIONS! I am mum to DT's aged 2.8, non-id, boys. Wow, 3 other kids as well as twins, all i can say is GOOD LUCK!

keep posting and ask questions as you think of them.

Hi Throckenholt at my scan she said she thinks there not id due to the lining between is fairly thick, which she said was the safest type of twin pregnancy fingers crossed lol and fuddle the older girls can be helpful but only when they want to! I do feel still in shock not to sure when i shall quite get use to the idea either lol especially after repeatedly have DD2 saying since i found i was expectin oooooo mum u cud be havin twins! up until the morning of my scan

miniandme Wed 01-Aug-07 12:36:30

ExpectingKat im in the same boat as you, just found out about the twins on monday, also have 3 other kids at 11,9 and 4.
I had left a message on the due in feb thread then came over here to skulk about see what the score is lol,we will mayeb have to get egg over here too with us

miniandme Wed 01-Aug-07 12:37:34

Sorry forgot to say mines are defo non id as there is clearly 2 sacs and 2 placentas,i was dating at 13 +5 but scan put me back to 13,not sure which one to go by ,will ask mw today wheni see her

ExpectingKat Wed 01-Aug-07 12:49:53

Hiya mini
when i went for my scan thought i was 11 +2 but they put me as 10+5 as its within a week of my due date they said they keep u as the same due date, which i think tis a bit odd, as now still classed as 12+1 wot date are your double delights due?

Harrogatemum Wed 01-Aug-07 13:16:27

come on over to the main thread - its the one currently entitled something about being asked how many times that they are twins - there are load of us twin mummies on there (and a few triplet mummies, bows down in awe....)

We are all very friendly - we do cake and everything......

miniandme Wed 01-Aug-07 13:16:49

Yeh see i was told the same to keep my same due date of 2nd february! so that makes me 14 wks on friday then woohoo!!
My ds1 was 2 wks early,ds2 was 3 wks early and dd was 2 wks early and they of course were all singletons so can only imagine when the twins will make an appearance

chopster Wed 01-Aug-07 13:39:17

Hi and congratulations to both of you. I'm mum to four, aged 7, 5 and dts aged 2.4, so I had four aged under 5 at one time. you will manage fine.
they do keep the same due date for some reason, I know I was on the april antenatel thread, even though there wasn't really a hope on earth of me making it that far!

ExpectingKat Wed 01-Aug-07 14:53:45

DD1 a couple of days early DD2 was 10 days late and DS1 was a day early, 1 thing I said to DH is that i shudn't be late but I suppose u just never know, I can't imagine carry 2 babys that long lol I was so big and uncomfortable with DS and at 12wks finding it hard to fit into clothes now!
Thanx HarrogatemumI will check that thread out and I never say no to cake lol

hertsnessex Wed 01-Aug-07 14:58:04
