Car seat help!

We have DD 3yo and twins due in next 4 weeks (eeeek!). We thought we had sorted what to do for car seats but the salesman in Halfords told us that what we are planning is unsafe so now back to square one.

We have a Toyota Corolla where the passenger airbags can be disabled using ignition key so we were planning on putting one twin up front in belted car seat, one twin in back in DD old MaxiCosi Pebble with Isofix base, and DD in other Isofix back seat in her current Isofix Twoway Pearl.

Salesman said putting newborn in front is unsafe and we should buy a new car, put all 3 together in the back, or as a last resort put 3yo DD in front as if there is a crash she is more robust and more likely to survive. 😓

Help, please! There must be people in our situation.... what did you all do?!!

Is the 3yo forward or rear facing? If you have a choice I'd put a forward facing child in the front, airbag off if you can, seat as far back as poss (actually, check the airbag on/off advice, because I was recently told it had changed.)

If they are all rear facing then it's much of a muchness - the danger is a RF seat in the front, but if you can disable the airbag, then it shouldn't be an issue.

I would not go by what Halfords say because they are not experts in car seat safety. Maybe call the In Car Safety Centre and see what they advise.

ICSS will know for sure. They are experts on rear facing and car safety.

This is what we are doing...the car seat man in mothercare suggested it after I couldn't find three seats that fit across the back seat of my car! I can't afford a new car and no isofix in the front so it's our only option.

Chocolate phew! So that was recommended by a car seat fitter? Which DC did you put in front?

Bertie thanks will give them a buzz this week.

Have you heard of Multimac? Would be cheaper than a new car and allow all 3 children to sit in the back.

Multimac only supports RF to 13kg.

Cricket yes heard of Multimac but put off by reviews that said it didn't support newborn heads well and also it constitutes a modification to your car. Whereas turning off airbags with an ignition key presumably isn't as it is just something that is a feature of the car iyswim?

Ah ok, not looked into it myself, just heard about it and thought that might be an option if we ever decide to have anymore. Hope you get something sorted
