Consultant told me you won't go past 37 weeks, just wondering how many people actually get to 37 weeks with twins?

33.5 weeks
I was booked for a section but ended up having an emergency one. Transferred between hospitals in labour as no nicu cots at our hospital.
I was in hospital fora Month as had had to have another operation. Are home for five days in the middle but babies had to stay in. I was then readmitted for the further operation.
It was a bloody tough time looking back.

I had a section at 35 weeks. That sounds terrible mouldy, I hope you are all doing well now.

I was 37+4 and had an elective c section. Could have gone further but they don't like you to go to long with twins

I had an elective c-section at 36 weeks exactly.

39 weeks. Dr had said I wouldn't go full term.

I had my section planned for 38 weeks but they actually came 5 weeks early.
both quite tiny, short spell in SCBU and no lasting problems.

I was induced at 39 weeks and 3 days because I was so uncomfortable but the consultant was happy for me to keep going as the twins were both happy where they were !

Induction booked for 38+0. My waters went at 34 weeks, emcs as twin 1 was transverse. Spent 13 days in scbu.

I got to 32+2 when my waters broke. Didn't go into labour but was semi-emergency c-sectioned a few days later when my temperature went up. A few weeks in special care. A few years on you would never know they were prem.

Are they identical? Consultants are usually more cautious if they are, as two babies sharing one placenta is riskier.

Current advice based on evidence from Royal College etc is that identical twins MCDA are delivered between 36 and 37 weeks and non-identical, DCDA, are delivered between 37 and 38. MCMA usually deliver earlier, that's the rarest type who share a placenta and a sac. So although in the past they used to leave twins if labour had not started naturally and no other complications, they don't advise that now. So I am guessing that is why the consultant said what he did. We were told at 16 weeks that our babies will be delivered at 36 weeks and I am 33 now and that is still the plan. Christmas week babies for us if they stay put until then! How many weeks are you?

Non identical twins were induced at 38 weeks.

Identical twins - booked c section at 37 weeks, waters broke night before so technically had an Emergency section (although I can't imagine it would've been any different had it been a few hours later - at the planned time!).

I had mine at 37+2. I was amazed I got that far as drs kept telling me it was unlikely that I'd even reach 37 weeks.

Fraternals, emergency C section at 35 + 5 due to pre eclampsia. Two weeks in SCBU to gain weight. No lasting effects.

ID twins born 36+3 by planned section. T1 fine, T2 (the bigger one) had 'wet lungs' and spent a week on SCBU. I feel like they could have done with another week inside, but my body was pushed to its limit and I was very swollen, protein in urine etc.

I constantly worried about my boy/girl twins coming early but turned out they wanted to stay in and I was induced at 38 weeks

I haven't had twins, but I am a twin and we were approximately 4 weeks early. My mum went into labour naturally. My sister was fine, but I was in an incubator for a few days as I was a lot smaller.

My non-identical twins were born by planned c section at 37 weeks. My consultant did offer for me to go another week as the twins were quite comfortable where they were, I however was very far from comfortable!!

I was told that around half of twins make it to 37 weeks; depends on their size though and if you have any other issues (mine were both breech, so it was always going to be a c section). If you are scanned regularly you should have more of an idea of what'll happen.
