Twin Pram / Car Seat Advice

Hello all - just need some advice on twin needs! I'm expecting my twins in one week and have the pram and car seats sorted. ( I have a out n about nipper double). I am now panicking that I should have bought a pram which allows car seat attachments, and am wondering whether to buy a cheap mountain buggy duet from ebay, to use the frame for this, and just keep in the car boot. Any thoughts... do any of you twin mums out there find that you use the car seats lots to transport your little lovelies? Thanks.

Hi, I had a nipper and still do as wanted something that lay flat but then would work for when they were older. Car seats are heavy and I did enough lifting so just put babies in the buggy or carried them into the house one at a time. It took me ages to fold it up right at first but quick once I got the hang of it. Mine were quite small at about 5lb each and born in January so used these to keep them cosy in their pushchair and so they fitted in car seats www.amazon.co.uk/Diono-10285-Sunshine-Cuddle-Soft-Liner/dp/B000KN0L2O?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 - a link but I got mine second hand. I didn't get out in the car much for a while though - short pushchair trips were enough. I think it's normal to worry a bit before they're born. Hope it all goes well x

Thanks twicethehugs, that's really helpful. I think I need to stop trying to plan too much in advance and just see how it goes!. All the best x

Hi congrats on your twins, do you know what you're having?
The whole car seat and pushchair saga will never have a definitive answer, it all depends on your lifestyle. I got a pushchair that fits car seats because I needed to be able to whip them in and out of car for popping in to shops , school runs, after school stuff etc etc. I now have 5 kids and just needed the flexibility when we are all in a rush. I don't think I'd of been as fussed if they were my 1st.

I had an iCandy but didn't use car seats with it (I had carry cots). Didn't find it a bother not having the car seats.

Have the baby jogger city mini - sometimes wanted to be able to attach car seats, but soon got the hang of getting them in and out of the car / buggy.

Agree with PP that it can depend on your lifestyle. (Sorry - that doesn't help!). They can't really be in the car seats for a huge amount of time, and that was a factor in my choice to go with a buggy which car seats wouldn't attach to. I had second hand carrycots for mine - used about four times then got fed up of the hassle of taking them on and off so sold them on.

The head hugger things are handy too.

Good luck with the delivery and your first few weeks.

Thanks for your helpful messages and kind wishes. I'm expecting a boy and a girl (who will be here this time next week - what a weird thought! :))

I am going for car seat attachments - I never used them for my first two children, but now willbe doing school run at 9am and 3pm - prime nap times! I don't want to wake them up to put them in carry cot for a 5 minute walk from car to school twice a day!
