Feeling movement on one side.

Hello all, I think I'm starting to feel a bit of movement but it's only on one side, I'm trying not to google too much and was wondering if this is something anyone else noticed. I'm only 16 weeks and it's my second and third baby in there so I know it's quite early to feel much. I am so anxious about everything!

I didn't feel anything at all with my twins until 24 weeks (paid for private scan to check on them too) but all was fine.

I'm afraid this is one of those things with a twin pregnancy, I managed to convince myself at least four times that something was wrong! It was usually at about three o'clock in the morning.

If you're really really worried, to the extent that you're not sleeping etc, you could ask the midwife to have a listen?

I didn't feel anything until about 22 weeks and then only on one side til after 26 weeks. I still don't get much movement on one side.

No-one seems to have suggestions for monitoring twin movements, but equally my consultant and midwife are not concerned.

You should start to get more appointments though (from 20 weeks I've had a scan or midwife check every 2 weeks) which might help reassure you.

I felt Twin 2 from around the same time but never really felt Twin 1. I'd be reassured after a scan and know where they were, then think I could differentiate between them until the next scan when I'd find out they were somewhere completely different. Twin 2 was at the top and all spread out, whereas Twin 1 was all scrunched up at the bottom. I'd sometimes feel her if I curled up my legs underneath me or after a big meal though.

I spent so much time trying to get them to move, and worried so much; I know exactly what you're going through.

I had this throughout. Twin 1 was much more active, v wriggly; Twin 2 was much stiller (and bigger, as it turned out, which might have been one reason for the lack of movement). They both 5 now and still pretty much the same!!

It's good to know it's not too unusual then, I think I'm just going to worry about everything probably forever! I think part of my problem is I'm guessing totally where they are and actually they're probably somewhere else. I have a midwife appointment on Wednesday do hopefully that will help me relax for a few hours, hoping it's not too early to hear the heartbeats.

One of mine had an anterior placenta which affected feeling their movements. I ended up at mau a couple of times due to not feeling movement only to find one of them had changed position.

I had this! I nearly went in to the hospital on a few occasions because I was worried something was wrong. Turned out she was fine, just chilling out. Oddly, she is now my outgoing and active one, while dt1 is quieter and more shy!

I didn't feel anything until bang on 20wks and then I got some very recognisable kicks, none of that gentle butterfly stuff. Now at 24 wks I only tend to get kicks just under my ribs and wayyyyy down low. I have an anterior placenta that cushions everything in the middle. I can't figure out who's kicking when as they are both head down and the kicks could be coming from either of them.
