how big did you get? I'm getting scared - waddling already!

I'm 20w pg with ID twins. This weekend my already prominent bump has seriously grown. I'm waddling and feeling huge - the thought of 17 more weeks is terrifying. I'm already struggling to bend down and today I cleared out the kitchen drawers (must be nesting) and chucked rubbish in a pile on the floor - dh had to pick it up for me. Really starting to worry about work - I finish at 31w as it'll be school hols, but have dd1 (3) to care for so not going to be resting!

Any advice/reassurance/honesty?

I've had 2 sets of twins, the first I was big but still able to do most things except pick things up from the floor lol. The 2nd set are now 2 weeks old and I was bedridden for the last 8 weeks as I was mahoosive, seriously big and carrying very low with them too, I was carrying excess fluid with twin 2 aswell which didn't help matters.

yep can relate to the size of your bump Mrs F. When I sat down my bump was over my knees, they were non id so 2 of everything and the were 6lb 14oz & 7lb 14oz & born at 38 weeks

Just approaching 37 weeks and my "waist" is 46 inches. Brassica - 1 stone 10 lbs doesn't sound much to me! I started at about 8.5 stone and am now - wince - nearly 12.5

It's 1 stone 11.8 today resting Grin I'm swinging between "OMG nearly 2 stone Shock" and "Feck, that doesn't sound like enough for twins!! Sad".

My last scan was 3 weeks ago, 1 week until the next and the docs don't seem worried. So I'm trying not to. (I'm finding losing control of my body quite hard at the moment. (Not in an eating disorder way. Really. You should see the cr@p I'm eating!!) I feel like someone else is living in my body at the moment Hmm)

Brasssica - I certainly didn't mean to worry you - rather, I am concerned that I have put on waay too much! (a lot around Easter, strangely...) Still, my MIL (who also had twins) put on 5 st+ by 37 weeks. But she did say that she lost 4st of it by the time the babies were 2 weeks old

I am 24 weeks gone with non-identical girls. I don't know how I am going to get through the next (hopefully 14 weeks). I am thankful that everything is going well from the medical perspective, and the babies are normal size for singleton babies! But I am so uncomfortable, breathless, tired! I am short and my bump has nowhere to go but out, and I think I am heading for a 1stMrsF style mega bump. I would love to bed rest but with a job and a three year old dd, this is not gonna happen soon. How long can one expect to carry on??

great thread - just what im needing. Im 26 weeks and have been thoroughly depressed and frustrated by the bump. im kind of on bed rest and can hardly move - takes 5 mins to get to the loo which i need to do often. the bump is massive and as im only 5 ft 2 it really stands out. bought a v ugly bump bra type of support which helps a little but its scary to think that there are still many weeks left and it can only get bigger. anyone else got one of the twins facing in and constantly kicking the bladder?

Hi Lexbm - I am now 24w and have dd1 (3) plus a job 30 hours a week. I work in a school so thank goodness for school hols, but then I will be at home with dd1 so won't be resting much! I'm 5"4 and a bit uncomfortable but I'm actually not suffering from the SPD I had with dd1, or the bad asthma that had me on steroids in my last pg. I'm getting heartburn though and the tiredness hits me with no warning.

I think it's bigger with non id twins as you have two placentas, I've only got one, although it's apparently big (which is apparently good). I have a feeling it's going to be a hot summer too. oh well, I'll carry on sharing the paddling pool with dd1!

13 more weeks of growing still terrifies me!

I put 3 stone on but I'm quite tall so wasn't as sticky out as MrsF's. I was enrmous though. I stopped working at 31 weeks because I was struggling to get behind the steering wheel.

I lost it really quickly as well - after about a month my pre-PG jeans were a bit too big. Sadly that didn't last!

Its good to know that I am not the only one! I bought the maternity belt, Nexcare Maternity Support from Mothercare, and that seems to help a lot with being vertical. I no longer have to hold the bump up with my hands when walking around! Take it easy and good luck!

PrincessScrumpy, I'm now 32w with non-identical twins and at around 25/26w, I expanded rapidly and started to ache all over my back and pelvis, especially pelvic girdle and I worried about how I'd manage until the babies arrived. When I told people how far along I was, they were saying to me, "oh, I thought you were due in a couple of weeks"!

Then, gradually, the aches and pains settled, my body caught up with the sudden growth and I now feel even better than I did then in many ways! Though when I'm wearing a loose dress, it's hot, and I'm sitting down, I have to peel my belly off my thighs!!

Also, now people have 'decided' that I'm small for having twins and being 32wks pregnant!

All the best x

If it's any reassurance to you big ladies out there, my non-id girls were born in dec weighing 9lb and 8lb5oz at 40+3... I was mega mahoosive but still managed a long walk the day before to try to encourage things (it didn't-i was induced!)... I was very tired and pretty uncomfortable but loved it - mad maybe - but the power of positive thought and plenty of rest, good food and love from your family goes a long way too... good luck x

Wow, fab weights myfourgirls. Thought my boys were a good size at 7lb13 and 7lb11, also induced at 40+3. I only put on around 2stone too that was with all the non-id gubbins (v diff shape after tho). That was hard enough work & I can't imagine how it must be to gain even more weight.

I remember being around 6months & being uncomfy, breathless & having a sore, itchy stretched belly button &thinking it'd be awful by the end. Must've plateaued a bit after that cos I worked til 37+1 (I teach so in feet a lot -support band from blooming marvellous was a lifesaver from 19wks or so) and also remember being measured and being same size as full term singleton when I was 29wks & wondering what the fuss was with a singleton pg (no doubt that will come back to bite me on the bum this time!). Def not easy, but we got there.

I put on 2 stone in the end. The babies arrived a week ago at 5.7lb and 5.8lb and I've only lost 12lb! ShockHmm Now how does that work?!

PrincessScrumpy - I'm 35 wks tomorrow with non- ID twins. I felt MASSIVE at about 20 weeks, and awful with it - so achy, my back and hips were painful all the time.

Fast forward to now and I feel so much better than I did then. Yes, I'm huge but not freakishly so - I've gained about 2 stone so far.

I finished work at 31 weeks and that was a huge relief tbh, but I had a physical job where I was on my feet all day, plus 2 preschoolers at home.

I feel much much better now than I did at your stage though, so don't assume it can only get worse. In my case it got much better!
