I am 5 weeks pg, extreme fatigue, much more nausea than I'm used to, belly aches, boobs hurt, mood swings are ferocious....

PuraVida Tue 18-Jan-11 12:17:49

oh and i'm huge, only 10 weeks, didn't show until about 18 least time

Have you got kids already?
I think later pregnancies are just tougher as you are busier and more knackered.
I had no syptoms whatsoever with ds1, with ds2 I had slight nausea for about 2 weeks.
This time I am now 10 weeks and I am shattered (going to bed 7pm at least 2 nights a week) plus I am so so sick that I can barely move most evenings after 4pm ish for fear of vomiting.
I've got enormous boobs and a belly showing already.
I do have a faint worry of twins, but mostly I just think its me being old and knackered and possibly its a girl this time?
Scan in 2 weeks so we will see then!

christ, do they run in families?

i have an 18 month old DS, so yes, i am definitley more knackered, and i am fatter than i was when i had DS, perhpas it's just that <hopeful>

four is a lovely number though Reality, i am one of 4 smile

I had far more symptoms with my singleton than I did with my twins. No sickness at all with twins, just knackered. So it's impossible to tell.

You can get referred for an early scan if there is a history of twins in the family - it got me one with the twins and then another early scan with our singleton when dippy midwife thought it was twins again.

Twins are lovely though, hard work yes but not the end of the world. It's cost us more in some ways to have them but I wouldn't change things for the world.

Fraternal twins run along the mother's side and identical twins are random. So fret not on that score.

I showed v early, had hideous symptoms, very early morning sickness etc. Singleton.

I think you're talking yourself into worrying about it.

You could have a private scan at aroun 6 or 7 weeks if you want to set your mind at rest.

It is a crap film to be fair. I also would have cried.

It's just your hormones you big girl's blouse.

Reality, I felt ABSOLUTELY SHITE when pg with DC3. From the moment of conception, almost

I was beyond exhausted, nauseous, lethargic, tearful

I thought I had something wrong with me blush (ie, not 'just' being pg)

The pregnancy was incomparable in every way to the 1st 2

I too thought it might be twins - got massive v quickly, too <slack abs>

It wasn't. Hooray wink

mamaloco Tue 18-Jan-11 12:48:50

I was like you on my 2nd pregnancy. Really hoping it wasn't twins. I had a transvaginal scan at 6 weeks showing only one sac (but I am not on the NHS and asked for it because a friend had an ectopic and I just wanted to make sure it was in the right place) But was really sick and exhausted and huge all the way through. DD2 was big and is massive at 11 months.
Good luck.

I don't think it matters if it is twins. All that number of bedrooms stuff is irrelevant. If I know you at all you'll do what we all do and just adapt. But you'll do it brilliantly because you're just like that.

ShowOfHands Tue 18-Jan-11 13:13:51

Did you hear me? Shall I say it louder as you're so very, very old?
