Hi,

Can anyone recommend a website or place to buy toys, games or books that depict an array of cultures or colours of people/characters?

thanx

Hamley's have a good selection of dolls which includes 'ethnic' dolls.

Thanking you all, some of the places listed I have already visited and not found any, perhaps it was just my local store and not representative of the entire range.

Thanks again.

where are you Tamula? Have you ordered online from the shops that you visited, in case they have stock just for web orders?

Tamula, our local sainsburys has balamory josie jump dolls in this week if they're any good?

Hello again,

I'm based in East London and looked in my local ELC which had one 'tan' coloured play figure out of a bunch of about 20, this isnt what I had in mind. I looked briefly at the Hamleys website and didnt find much joy, but then I didnt look thoroughly. I know I can always find various coloured dolls in most toy shops.

But I'm not a huge dolly fan, if pushed I'd like male and female ones and not your typical thrilly and lacy ones or 'tiny tears' type!

Right now I am just browsing to compile a resource list. I'm basically looking for flashcards, posters, books, play figures, dressing up clothes, just everything in general!! I just want bubba to grow up seeing and being confident with what is reflective of their specific environment and themselves, which in London is a melting pot!

I found www.positive-identity.com a pretty good site, so thanks for whoever posted that one!

You're welcome. I don't use ELC for my "ethnic" toys. They've never had a selection and so I don't bother. Glad that you found some of the other sites a help.
