Should I be worried?!

I'm pregnant with mixed race triplets (my husband is black and I'm white) and we're both so happy and excited. But the world can be cruel and I'm worried about what my girls might have to go through as they grow up. Am I worried about nothing? Help from parents of mixed race children! Thank you!

Please don't be worried. I have 3 mixed race children. When I was expecting my first I too had those thoughts. But my children have grown up to be well adjusted and are proud of their dual heritage Smile

Do you live in a Multicultural area? I have found the most prejudice on holiday with working class Germans/French and Spanish. Very little where I live.i get really angry about it,I'm white., DH,black takes it as it comes.

Congratulations and don't worry!

I think most readers of this board will have worried about their children experiencing racism. FWIW I think things are much better generally in the UK than they used to be for mixed race kids growing up. My mixed race children have only ever had positive reactions to their heritage. There are also far more positive mixed race role models around eg on children's TV than there were when I was young. Actually when I was young there weren't any at all. And IME schools nowadays are more culturally aware and better at dealing with any problems that do arise.
