I'd love to join a book swap and as the others are all up and running I thought I'd try for a new one.

If you'd like to join please add your name and I'll have a go at getting it sorted.

Any takers?

How it works

Hi swissmiss - I recently started a new book swap and found it useful to post it on the Adult Fiction topic too, as more book-lovers look there I think.

HTH smile

swissmiss Mon 08-Jun-09 09:52:33

Thanks Arti. Will do.

cathcat Mon 08-Jun-09 10:02:11

swissmiss Mon 08-Jun-09 14:45:51

@hitc - love your username. my ds1 used to say his name was firstname headintheclouds lastname as he couldn't say edward mcleod, his real middle names. made us laugh everytime. grin

simpson Mon 08-Jun-09 16:11:04

Can i join?

Have been meaning to do this for ages and there is never a new book swap group when I remember to look.

caykon Mon 08-Jun-09 16:13:52

is there room for me too

headintheclouds Mon 08-Jun-09 17:29:50

swissmiss-I couldnt think of a decent name for myself, but used to go in a shop years ago called headintheclouds-it was a joss-stick hippy kind of shop! the thought of your ds1 trying to pronounce his name is so cute!
Hey the bookswap is taking off quickley-like I said before I always miss these when someone starts one and I know its a bit sad but Im really pleased with myself that Ive finally managed to join!

steamedtreaclesponge Mon 08-Jun-09 17:33:49

Ooh can I join too please? I'm always after new things to read and would love to be able to discuss things after reading them, my friends just don't seem to like talking about books any more...

swissmiss Mon 08-Jun-09 18:20:30

the more the merrier, welcome! looks like we'll get this one off the ground. 12 seems to be a good group size. from looking about the other groups seem to run jan-dec but trying to sort it out in the run up to christmas will just never happen here so now seemed as good a time as any.

have i get everyone so far?

simpson Mon 08-Jun-09 20:51:37

Oooh excited grin

What happens now?

swissmiss Mon 08-Jun-09 21:14:10

jk, the link in my first message, courtesy of flamesparrow, explains all. seems fairly straightforward hence why i thought i'd bite the bullet, so to speak, and try and get one going. i'll give you my email address and then can sort a group email thingy for the rest.

if we get enough people (or even if we don't) how does 1st July sound for posting date for our first book? any particular genres people want to avoid? chick-lit? non-fiction? sci-fi? pre-20th cent? seem to be some of the vetoed ones in other groups. thoughts please?

anyone else???

MoominMymbleandMy Mon 08-Jun-09 21:28:43

I would love to if there's room for another.

swissmiss Mon 08-Jun-09 22:21:27

absolutely MMM.

moomin mymbleandmy

madamy Mon 08-Jun-09 22:26:09

Ooh - me please if there's room! I read far too much chicklit and other crappy books so would love to try something different!

headintheclouds Mon 08-Jun-09 22:45:16

swissmiss-1st July sounds great to me for posting date, and I agree with all your suggested vetoes-I just cant do sci-fi or mis-lit.
This might sound like an excuse coming on already, but I'm away on a work conference Wed-Sat and will not have access to Mumsnet!! I definately want to be in the group and will look on the thread as soon as I get back to see what Ive missed! How do we go about emailing addresses etc?

CandleQueen Mon 08-Jun-09 22:50:56

I'm in! If you'll have me...

1st July good for me.

simpson Mon 08-Jun-09 22:53:37

Ist July good for me too smile

Am on hol from 11th July for a week though.

Yes, another one who doesn't like sci-fi.

But will give most other things a go....

MoominMymbleandMy Tue 09-Jun-09 00:06:21

July 1 is fine by me. I'm not crazy about mis lit or chick lit but I will read the back of a cornflakes packet if I'm desperate enough.

cathcat Tue 09-Jun-09 00:19:40

July 1st is also fine by me. Also no chit lit is fine by me. DH presented me with 2 of these truly awful books for Mother's Day, thanks DH!

JackBauer Tue 09-Jun-09 06:43:55

Can I come in? Pretty please?

(and I do't care what I rea as long as it is romanticgrin)
