Winter Book Swap - T by RT *thread title edited as per OP's request*

I chose this (stand-in) book at the last minute having lost the one I wanted to include.
Whilst this is not my favourite book by this author, what I find fascinating about it is that the story proves gripping (and you want to know the ending) whilst also being a book in which I don't actually like any of the characters!
Usually, if I cannot connect in some way with the characters then I struggle to continue with the book but, with this dark tale, it proved otherwise.
I do feel I should perhaps apologise in advance if some people find certain aspects and scenes rather macabre (and possibly overly gruesome).
