Still spotting after 3 weeks

Hi all,

Just wanted to hear anybody else's experience on this. I sadly MC on 9th September and everything progressed naturally. The heavy bleeding slowed over a week but to this day I am still wearing pads and about 1-2 teaspoons comes out a day. Is this normal? There hasn't been any pain as such but in the mornings 2 weeks ago I had mild period cramps. This week no pain at all but still a small amount of brown/red is coming out. Is this normal? Should I make an appointment with the doctor? I've heard this may because my pregnancy hormone level may not be at zero yet. Until this is, I might not get my first period until 4-8 weeks so basically can't start trying again for over 2 months!! This is so distressing. When will I be back to normal?

Hi bean sorry to hear about your loss. I have been through the same thing I bleed for 2 months I phoned the doctor many times but said it was normal! To cut a long story short was in hospital 3 times and still had products inside me. Eventually had my evacuation procedure in hospital last Friday. I have been through hell and back and haven't had a period since May! Hopefully things will get back to normal now. Don't let them fob u off like they did with me. Good luck g/f. X

Hi kanella, Thanks for your mail Yeah I'm staring to wonder about the doctors!! Was it continuous bleeding or stop/start for you? So far I haven't had a dry day yet. Most websites say it is common to bleed for 7-10 days not nearly a month!! Just want to get back on track to try again. Hopefully things will get back to normal as you say so good luck xxx

P.S i took a pregnancy test this morning to see if my hCG level was still up and it came back negative which is good. This should mean I will ovulate again.

Hi Bean, I'm so sorry for your loss. After my mc last year I bled for over a month, heavy at first then a little bit every day like you. I had a scan at the hospital but all was fine. It happens. If you are worried you could ask your GP to refer you for a scan to check that there is no tissue left behind and that the lining of the womb has returned to normal. It's so painful all that but it does stop and then you'll get a normal period and your body will start functioning normally again. All the best xx

thanks Mouette. I've taken your advice and booked a doctors appointment to hopefully get another scan. I know everyone is different but how long did u have to wait for your period once it stopped?

Ur welcome. It didn't really stop - I was still getting a tiny bit of blood and then my period started. After my period I didn't get any more bleeding. Don't be surprised if your first cycle is longer or shorter than usual - mine was 5 weeks long. This website has some very useful information on all this:
