Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

I know I'm probably having a miscarriage...

but there's always a glimmer of hope (i think)? Am about 5-6 weeks (didn't have a period after last miscarriage) and was quite surprised when a PG test was (quickly and strongly) positive. I had a ERPC so I know it's not from the last one. I've done 2 tests since the first last week and both strongly positive. I've had v light spotting for the last 4 days - not enough to need a pad. Think I might have had some cramping so am not hopeful but not sure if this is related to bowels. Scan is tomorrow (have been waiting since Mon for appointment) and the wait is driving me crazy. I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster - one minute I'm convinced it's all over, the next I start hoping again. Anyone had any success stories in this situation or will they even see anything at this early stage?

I think I know the answer already but I could do with some handholding. Thanks in anticipation xx

I'm sorry to hear this. I don't think anyone can say if you are miscarrying or not until you have the scan tomorrow.

Good luck.

i'm so sorry that you're going through this, it is so hard! FWIW no reason to expect that this is a miscarriage as you're only spotting which might be implantation..

horrible waiting....

best of luck with your scan...

I also had quite heavy bleeding (needed a pad) at 6 weeks and had to be scanned - was sure I was miscarrying..

That was DD2 who is now 3! These scenarios can have a positive outcome, fingers crossed x

Alot of people I have spoken to have had a erpc, and then got pregnant before their next period had spotting as you describe, and it was fine. Im sure you will be ok, and of course there is a glimmer of hope!!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, and keep us updated.

I know its hard, but try to keep thinking positive (bit of a cliche I know, when all you can do is worry) but for many people, spotting is fine, and you will be one of these people!!

xx

Please dont give up hope...as it could all be okay.

My dp's mum bled for two days straight with my dp's lil bro so try not to stress out.

I might possibly be in the same boat as you hopefully. MC'd 5 wks ago, no period since, stronger line on PG test (done three now) symptoms are back and belly's bloated again. Only difference is that you have had eprc so you know its new pg. Im praying mine is too.

Nurse said I have to wait two weeks do another test and if its + then go to the doctor. But as you have your scan tomorrow, hopefully you will get the answers you need.

I understand what you mean about the waiting, its crap, but I am feeling positive and hopeful for both of us that everything will be okay.

I'm keeping my fingers cross for you, and stay in touch and let us know how it goes tomorrow...RL1 Xx

I had light spotting for a couple of days at 5-6 weeks and like you was convinced I was miscarrying (I've had 2 mc's before). I am now 16 weeks and all is well so far.....

I am also bad at feeling positive - I sort of think if I expect the worst, it won't be such a disappointment when it happens... The waiting is awful though - hope everything goes ok - let us know x

Good luck to you too Ruby

It doesn't always mean the worse although I think it's ok to feel negative just in case. My first pregnancy was completely normal. This one I bled between 5-7 weeks continuously. Had 'viability' scan at 6 weeks which showed foetus but bleeding at the edge of the sac. then had to wait. Am now 38 weeks and all fine. Sometimes it just happens. I have bled pretty much throughout on and off. Hope all goes well for you.

I was cross at some people's reactions - it was early, you can always have another, etc. It is a proper baby for you no matter how early. Good luck.

Thanks once again for everyone's replies. Well - had the scan and they could only see an abnormal area. Either a partial molar preg or left over from ERPC. They did an urgent HCG bllod test and thankfully the levels prob aren't high enough for a molar so prob left over products of conception from ERPC.

I knew you could get tissue left over but assumed that as my bleeding had stopped that was that. I even thought I'd had an ovulation pain 2-3 wks after.....

They said there is an outside chance it could be a v. early preg but that the endometrial lining doesn't look classic for that. Got to have another blood test on Mon to check HCG levels aren't rising and may need another scan to see if will need another ERPC at some point.

So, mixed emotions really. On the 1 hand I'm so glad it's not a partial molar preg and also that I haven't had a second miscarriage. Obviously I'm upset but I also feel a little silly for assuming that my HCG levels would have gone back to normal straight after the ERPC.

Arses - this pregnancy lark is so crap. Might have a rest from it all for a while (yeah right).

Big glass(es) of wine tonight.

Thanks once again everyone xxx

Dear dcb
So sorry to hear the news. My heart goes out to you. I lost my first baby at 17 weeks and was absolutely devastated. But I now have a beautiful 3 month old son. Take care and hang on in there. xx
